Should Bulls Fans Be Worried That Derrick Rose Is Already Missing Games

Should the Chicago Bulls have kept Derrick Rose and banked on a playoff run led by Rose, Wade & Butler?

Even assuming all three players were in their prime at the same time, a team built around those three players would have a hard time winning. Why?Because all three of them need the ball to be at their best. Not a one of them is a great off-the-ball player.Great basketball teams need players who play different roles. For the same reason a team with too many post players has a hard time integrating them (they get in each other’s way), a team with too many players whose games are predicated on creating their own shots would struggle to be great.

Why is the downfall of Derrick Rose so sad?

It could have been avoided, so, so easily. The downfall of Derrick Rose has been especially sad for Bulls fan to see. His first knee injury was in the first round of the playoffs, against the 76ers. The game was over and done with; the Bulls were op 12 with 1:20 remaining in the game. Why he was even on the court was a mystery to me, but of course, the Bulls coach Tom Thibideau was firm believer in not resting players. Derrick’s knee was never the same after that, after that one leap towards the basket, after that one fall, after that one look of pain. Derrick continued to have knee injuries. He tore his meniscus, his MCL, Etc. As time went on, Rose’s monstrous contract fit for a stud was a problem, since he never returned to his MVP form, and he eventually lost some support in Chicago, and during the rise Jimmy Butler, Derrick wanted the ball and he and Jimmy had chemistry issues, so, it was Jimmy or Derrick and for once, the fans and the front office agreed, Rose had to be moved.Derrick Rose's run in Chicago: A timeline. When it comes to Derrick Rose, do many NBA fans feel like they're seeing and watching Tracy McGrady 2.0?

Because at one point during his career Tracy McGrady was almost as good, if not a bit better (at least talent wise) than Kobe Bryant. And yet once the injuries came, he regressed. And regressed. And regressed. And regressed.Until he was a shell of himself.Derrick Rose is and has been an even worse story that McGrady. The only plus is that he revitalized Chicago for a brief period of time and became the youngest MVP in NBA history. That alone showcases how top notch he was. Russell Westbrook is the same age as Derrick Rose and yet at the time, no one really knew Westbrook would become. Like McGrady and Kobe, the argument was fierce on who was the more athletic and purely talented PG. Now Westbrook is arguably the best PG in the game and a triple double machine and plays more violently than Rose ever did.A bad injury can literally change everything. It robbed Derrick Rose of his career, just like injuries robbed McGrady out of his.

Jeremy Lin or Derrick Rose?

Hey guys, I literally know nothing about basketball. But I've watched a little. So my Asian friend and I were talking and he said Jeremy Lin is better than Derrick Rose, but I think a lot of that is just sucking up to his own race. I think D-Rose is way better, but I don't really have the basketball knowledge make that statement. Who do you guys think is better?

Derrick Rose Overrated?

Yes he is over rated! The media really pushed his campaign. They just wanted a more likable replacement for mvp cause lebron is a jackass. I do believe that stats really lie but cmon. The bulls won the best record because of their defense. Rose is not even a defensive threat. so what does he bring to that defensive team? hmm? Offense, am i right? But so does deng and boozer!! He is a ball hog but he cant score more than 30ppg. Even deng and boozer each avg around 17ppg. Give a trio besides WADE LEBRON AND BOSH. who avgs better. NONE! Their a defensive team. Reality check! Gasol avgs around 18ppg. carlos boozer did miss 23 games but he manages to avg 18p and 10r per game. a doube double avg. And when boozer arrive that really solidify the bulls. Watch the allstar game last yr. D.ROSE is not even in the mvp talk. The bulls became a threat once boozer arrived.they were 38 and 16 at the all star break. and when boozer and noah arrived they lost.. are you ready to hear this. THEY only lost 4 games!!!!! and rose gets all the credit? CMON! He was a last minute MVP! And the media pushed it! AND There is no comparison between nash and rose! are you kidding? Rose is nowhere near nash! Nash turned the worst record phx suns to being the best in just a span of one season! ya'll see nash's value cause the suns are a run n gun team unlike d.rose he's value into a defensive team is very over rated. and remember the losing streak the suns had when nash went down for 6 games. They lost all 6 games. To make my point strong. Just think of this. Remove rose and put monta ellis in the bulls with that kind of defensive roster. Could you honestly say that the bulls would still be the best record? HELL YEAH! Last. heat vs bulls? Where was the leadership? BLOCK party for wade and lebron. He got stopped or got blocked everytime, in the last 2 mins of all the heat wins. They blamed boozer but really it should be rose. But the media points their fingers at boozer. And with your shallow heads, ya'll agree with the media. Boozer is a very good passer of a double team, if they just feed him the ball down the post they would have gotten better shots. and if they dont double you all know bosh cant guard boozer cause hes so strong. hes been shooting above 50% in his entire career.

2013 NBA Playoffs: Should Derrick Rose play in the Miami series?

"Should" is a tricky question.I don't really think that there are many people qualified to answer whether or not he should because most of us haven't torn our ACL and, of the ones that have, most of us don't rely on our athleticism to make money. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: one of the biggest hurdles for an athlete recovering from a major injury isn't physical, it's mental. It's about getting back the belief that, when you go to jump or execute a cross-over, that your body won't suddenly fail you.The absence of that belief can manifest itself in two very real ways;A player tries to overcompensate, and end up putting unnatural pressure on other parts of your body. In the short-term this might not manifest itself, but it can have very real, long-term impacts by introducing risks for new injuries. Derrick Rose is the long-term plan for the Bulls, he's the player they've chosen to build around, you don't risk that for a slightly increased (but still low) chance of beating the Heat.A player can end up limiting the things that he is willing to do.[1] You don't go all out; you don't try to run as fast or jump as high, you don't try to change direction as much, or you don't try to stop as suddenly. This can have dramatic short-term effects by potentially making the team worse.[2]Most of the Bulls aren't playing with injuries that carry significant, long-term risk. Most of them have the flu, or injuries that don't require extensive rehab. Noah's plantar fasciitis is probably the most risky but, I don't think many people would argue that it's more risky than worrying about the possibility of tearing an ACL for the second time.Should he come back? If he feels ready. Otherwise, it's not worth the risk just to try and "keep up" with his teammates.[1] In the abstract, of course Derrick Rose makes the team better. But we have no idea what Derrick Rose the Bulls would be getting. Is Rose as good if he decides to go a step or two slower?  How does his willingness to not jump quite as high impact his ability to finish at the rim?[2] More to the point, there's a distinct difference between practices and games. We always here athletes talk about how "practice-speed" and "game-speed" are different, how the atmosphere and the pressure is different, etc.

Is Derrick Rose overrated?

I'm a huge Bulls fan and D-Rose is my favorite player but I do think he's overrated. First, his stats aren't really that good for an MVP. Second, the defense and their new coach is the reason why they've improved so much. Everyone says that the Bulls have a weak supporting cast and that LeBron (who should be MVP) has Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. The Heat have a mediocre roster outside of the Big 3 and the Bulls roster is extremely underrated. Luol Deng is very underrated, Joakim Noah is the anchor on D, Ronnie Brewer is an underrated perimeter defender (he averages 1 steal a game or something coming off the bench), Boozer gives them a good low post scorer, Kyle Korver can make some big 3's, and Taj Gibson can be a beast when given solid minutes. When LeBron is on the bench, the Heat look disorganized on offense and defense. When D-Rose is on the bench, the Bulls D and solid supporting players help them win. Whenever Derrick struggles you never seem to hear about it on ESPN but when he has a great game it's all they talk about. ESPN is just hyping up Derrick because everyone hates LeBron now and they need a new poster boy. It really hurts but whenever I hear people say "Oh Rose has just carried this team" and "He's runaway MVP this year" or when I hear Mike Wilbon kissing up to him it makes me sick. Derrick Rose is my favorite player but he's obviously overrated.

Do you ever feel bad for Derrick Rose? Will he ever return to his former self?

At his age (he turns 30 in October) and after the numerous injuries and re-injuries he’s had, Derrick Rose will be at best a serviceable starter for a middling contender such as the Timberwolves. He occasionally shows flashes of his old explosive self but he is already unable to do so on a regular basis. Part of this is due to his style of play, which relies heavily on strong drives and athletic finishes, which often involves a lot of contacts and impact to his damaged knees and ankles. Rose has never really developed a reliable shot beyond 20 feet, and this allows defenses to cramp his driving lanes. As to whether we should feel sorry for Rose not being able to return to his old form, I say we should actually feel happy that he was able reach his peak at such an early stage, winning his lone MVP in just his third year in the NBA (and becoming the youngest ever to do so). Many other players with similar or greater potential than Rose (Grant Hill and Brandon Roy comes to mind) were not able to reach the peak of their careers due to injuries as well.
