Should Democrat Politicians Who Voted In Favor Of Military Action In Iraq Take A Lesson From Beck

Conservatives, liberals, supporters, detractors and all others: What do you think will be Trump's greatest contribution to presidential history?

A President who runs the country like a business. For 70 years, we’ve had the kindergarten model: whoever cries loudest gets free ice cream. How’s that been working? Many people will say: A country is not a business. They are quite correct. But in an age of global capitalism, having a businessman as President is a terrific idea.In his second term, I anticipate Trump will go into full-on business mode:“Ladies and Gentlemen, today I have introduced legislation to do XYZ. Here is a spreadsheet showing the advantages and disadvantages to our country…Here are the groups who will benefit, and here are the groups who will be screwed...We are going to ramp the winners. We will also stop investing in low ROI programs. If you’ve been on welfare more than 5 years, you are done.If you’ve been on unemployment more than 3 times in the last 5 years, you are done. And don’t even get me started about carpal tunnel disability payments…There is no free lunch. We will stop taxing carpenters who work two jobs to subsidize slackers who sit on the couch and watch Oprah. This will be good for the nation as a whole, and especially for working people. If you are in the group that will be screwed, too bad. That’s life in the big city. Deal with it. We’ll give you some great education and retraining. In fact, we’ll give you all kinds of free opportunities to make something of yourself. You must then sink or swim on your own. You are responsible for your life. Not me. Not the U.S. Government.”Bottom Line: Trump is a businessman. He is not a politician, and he doesn’t like politicians. In fact, he doesn’t like Politics. That’s why the Beltway crowd (both Democrats and Republicans) hate his guts. It’s like putting Colonel Sanders in charge of PETA.If Trump succeeds - and that’s a big if — the economy will boom and fewer whiny kids will get free ice cream.

Debate topic idea for an intro to political science class?

How about:

President Bush: Friend, enemy of America, or just plain stupid

While I think the first topic is excellect, here are some more topics that might be more realistic:

The Murkowski family: Should US Congressmen be allowed to nominate family as their replacements

Who owns America: How to deal with Native American tribal claims that the US government broke treaties ratified by Congress and stole land alotted to Native Americans

Social Security and Medicare: Solutions to the problem no one wants to talk about

College: American right or privilege

Outsourcing: The end of the American way of life?

The Draft: A peace time necessity or an invite for war (or Required Service for all high school graduates)

The 2nd Amendment: Right to protect our family and country or the death of civilized society?

Immigration: Welcoming our friendly neighbors or inviting an assassin to the party?

Democrats and Republicans: Is there really a difference?

Gay Marriage: Who does it hurt?

Obesity in America: The cost to society per pound

Was John McCain a warmonger or just on the wrong side of history?

McCain is a true hero, and I send my sympathy to his family and the many friends and colleagues who simply loved him. Few politicians have inspired so much genuine affection and respect across both parties. On foreign policy,McCain’s career is a mixed bag. His high point was giving strong support for Clinton’s normalization of relations with Vietnam, in spite of his own horrific experiences in captivity. That was noble, and totally successful for both the USA and Vietnam: it just isn’t an issue any more. But apart from that, McCain was a relentless advocate of higher military spending, critical of attempts to resolve problems by diplomacy, and a supporter of military intervention just about everywhere. And perhaps the best way to look at that is to observe that since 2000, the US government has done what McCain wanted in Iraq and Afghanistan, with totally disastrous results, and has deviated from his policies only in making a deal to end Iran’s development of nuclear weapons - a policy which has been a notable success. We tried it his way: it doesn’t work.
