Should I cut my hair short?

Your head appeals to these types of short hair…… But maybe this one suits you since you have bangs…… This will also do, even if you have a short neck…Should you or should you not is up to you ;-)

Should I cut my hair short or leave it long?

For just about all my life I have had long hair.. about down to my butt.. and dark (no hair dye yet).
Many girls/women have told me i should cut it short.
Many men like my long dark hair and tell me no...
I like the way I look in long hair but with this heat wave we have been having in WI lately.. been thinking of getting it cut short..
I need some in put here to help me make up my mind on this..
Short hair would be a big change for me (a bit scary) but so is being almost 50 and single again lol

Should I cut my long hair?

I got this a ton when I was starting out professionally. I used to wear a pony tail nearly to my waist, most often braided.  In college, I will never forget CompSci 101. The teacher told everyone in class to stand up, then, he said "If you have ever used a computer, stay standing, else, sit down." A few people sat down. Then he said "If you are comfortable using a computer, stay standing."  More people sat down. Next he said "if you own a computer, stay standing." Most of the class was now sitting. Finally he said "If you built your own computer, stay standing." Three of us were still standing, all with long hair in pony tails and glasses. Long hair was an identity thing for me for a long time. It seemed to be an in thing with the professors and a lot of the professionals. That changed over time though, and as I got closer to business and further from writing code I heard a lot more "Get a hair cut."  These days, I keep things short, and lightly spiked forward. I tell my barber to use clippers with a #3 guide for the sides and back, then feather the top in at a reasonable length. It took me a while to be comfortable that short.... I started with a look that was longer, but in the end have found this to strike the right balance for me.  Do I miss the long hair? Yeah, occasionally I do. It's a pain to grow out and goes through all sorts of awkward phases while it's growing out... I don't think I'd be willing to go through that mess again. In general though, I get more compliments on my appearance with short hair, and it's way easier to take care of.

what do you think?

Is it harder to cut short hair or long hair? Why?

Disclaimer: I’m not a hairdresser. Here we go:It appears to me that neither long nor short hair are particularly easier or harder to cut, but thickness would matter. Thick hair would probably be more difficult to cut than thin hair. If you mean style wise, long hair would probably be easier to cut, as you could cut more off without it making a noticeable difference whereas a shorter haircut in short hair would have an immediate noticable affect.

Should I cut my hair short in the Winter?

My hair is pretty long right now and it is badly in need of a trim.

I have a haircut appointment coming up in a few days and I've been thinking of cutting it short. I've had it short before, but never in the cold weather months.

Should I cut it short now while it's still cold or should I wait until Spring and just get a trim for now.

I have cut my hair too short. How can I quickly get my hair to be longer?

Don’t feel too badly: The same thing happened to me when I was somewhere around 10 to 12 years old.I *hated* going to the barber. There was always a long boring wait, and then the process of getting my hair cut always seemed a bit scary, and I simply didn’t like the barber much anyway. So I’d always get a crew cut so I wouldn’t have to go again soon.Heh, one day the barber asked why I always got a crew cut.I made the mistake of telling him.He said, “Well, I can help with that! I’ll give you an “old country” crew cut.::sigh::After a heavy scissors trim he basically mowed the top of my head down to perhaps an eighth of an inch of fuzz with his barber clipper. When I got home and looked at myself in the mirror I felt like I was going to die. I played sick the next day so I wouldn’t have to go to school and (I was sure) be laughed at, but by the following day I had to do it.I remember wearing a hat all the way to school even though it was Springtime, and I remember unsuccessfully trying to keep my head partly covered with one or the other of my hands for the next few days at school. I was VERY traumatized. What I do NOT remember happening was anyone making fun of me! I don’t think anyone did. It was a fear all in my head, and my vision of what I looked like in the mirror wasn’t actually true.Soooo… don’t worry too much. You might have someone make a snarky crack about “Hey, get a load of the haircut!” but that’ll probably be the worst that’ll happen, and within a week it’ll grow back to looking a bit more like what you might have expected with a short haircut.Best of luck!MJM, who thinks you might enjoy seeing what my hair looked like ten years later when I was in college… See me with my parents at:Michael J. McFadden's answer to Can anyone show her long hair photo?(No, I’m not a “her” but I address that in the first sentence….)

Do you regret cutting your hair short?

My hair is about this long:

And I want to cut it this short:

Will I regret it?... but my hair grows so fast and I guess it always grows back, right?

Thanks :)

Why do girls cut their hair short???

A woman has a right to do whatever she wants to her hair. Just as you don't like short hair, there are plenty of men out there who like short hair on women.

Does cutting hair short help hair loss?

Most of the time, hair loss is a result of an underlying issues such as alopecia, however there are circumstances where the hair just falls out naturally. It is commonly advised that cutting the hair can prevent hair loss, but how true is this? The truth is, cutting the hair short doesn't actively prevent hair loss. It does make the hair look thicker overall, because the nearer the strands of hair are to the roots, the thicker they are. So if you want your hair to appear thicker and fuller, you are best to get a shorter cut. There are environmental factors which relate to the specific hair cut and likelihood of hair loss, for example, when the hair has been cut short it is less likely to get tangled and caught in things like zips or scarves, which significantly reduces the everyday strains that would otherwise go unnoticed – this means that the hair will grow in better condition if it has been previously cut very short too.Everyones hair has been biologically 'programmed' to grow in a certain way, so no matter how it is cut, the growth rate and texture has been previously determined and this is the path it will follow. It is advisable to get the hair cut every six weeks to keep it in its best condition, as this way the ends have a chance to recuperate and replenish themselves and the hair looks fresh.Recommended Reading.
