what do you think? also, my hair color is naturally dark brown, but i have recently dyed it black. it looks okay, but any suggestions on what color(s) would look good too?

Should I dye my hair this color?

Yes......That is a gorgeous color. However, before you do that, Alex, go to a wig salon and try on some blonde hair pieces/wigs/extensions, that match that color, just to see how you look with blond hair. Take the photo with you to the wig salon. The sales ladies, will help you...Then, if it goes with your skin tone......Have it done professionally.

Will my hair go back to blonde?

If you get a standard drug store box dye you could be stuck with a big brown mistake for a very long time. If you want to experiment with a color but you aren't sure if you will like it or hate it then try a temporary color that washes out in anywhere from six shampoo to three months. These are available at places similar to Sally's Beauty. If you hate the brown it's easy to wash your hair a few times with a temporary color. If you hate a drug store box dye you will need to use a color remover and these can be quite harsh on the hair. As a natural blonde who made the big brown mistake and then made it worse with bleach trust me, you want a temporary color first. Further: get a color lighter than you think you want. Dyes look darker on lighter hair and that nice milk chocolate color on the box could look almost black on your hair. Many browns look flat, cold and one-color. A warmer brown looks better than cool brown and can mitigate some of the one-color look. And finally, just because a color is intriguing and looks good on others it doesn't mean it will look good on you. So be sure you try a temporary color before making the big commitment to a permenent dye.

Would you ever dye your hair a color that is not a natural color?

My natural hair.My first attempt at color. Strawberry blonde. Made me look washed out and gingerOmber style pink. Natural on top, pink shoulder down. I loved it but pink washes out fast. This is in Poland. I cracked my knee open, needed stitches, and ripped the stitches open again. So I was in a lot of pain (I didnt get pain killers but I got to see what hospitals are like in UK. I missed the chaos of US emergency waiting room, hospitals dont feel like hospitals without the emergency room).Next look. Blue, purple, pink. I loved it. I felt confident and sexy. But it turned into this…I went to a amusement park and the chlorine ate my dye and my purple stained blue. Note: colored hair does not mix with chlorine.I only go to hair stylist so not to screw up my hair and fry it. I asked to fix it but waited until closer to two trips to dye it this beautiful color. We mixed blues to make it stand out but the purple ended too light and didnt stand out against the pink. I still loved it. We tried not bleaching my roots and seeing if my hair can withhold the blue (I told her my hair's health is a must and didnt want to bleach it too soon) but it washed out.Two days before my trip, I couldnt get a hold of my stylist to fix up the roots so I went to Ultra store for ideas for a temporary dye. I ended up redyeing my hair. I didnt bleach my roots again and you can see the roots are starting to be seen.My hair looks like this now. Roots are showing. I use blue eyeshadow to hide my roots and it masks it really well. I am getting my hair dyed in nine days. Thinking of two possibilities, tell me which one I should try:

Truthfully, why do you dye your hair an unnatural color like purple or green or orange? Is it that you want to be noticed or do you just want to be different?

I dyed my hair pink back in April 2016.I dyed my hair pink because I want to have pink hair. I think it's fun to have pink hair. I saw myself in the mirror with pink hair, I feel happy and cheerful. It literally had nothing to do with how other people see me. In fact, the only time I thought about how other might think of my hair was before I dyed it, I went to ask my company HR about whether the company policy allows pink hair (they did). After that, it's all about me. I loved it for about… 3 weeks? I think? When the color started to fade. And because I have natural black hair, in order to dye pink, I had to bleach my hair twice, which basically killed my hair. It felt like plastic dead doll hair instead of the silky smooth bouncy hair I used to have.By July, it's faded to a lighter pink. I still like the color. I'd love to maintain this cotton candy pink color. I actually liked this color more than my original hot pink. But I just couldn't keep bleaching my hair, dying it, for a few weeks of good color. I'd rather have lively human hair, instead of dead doll hair…So by November, I dyed my hair back to my natural dark brown. (You can still see what's left of the bleached hair)This entire thing is about me and how I see myself. I don't care how other people see, or if I stand out or not stand out in the crowd.

Should i dye my hair?

No - Your hair looks pretty good.

As a 13 year old, should I dye my hair an unnatural color? (for self expression)

You can if you want to (and you're allowed to,) but be prepared for some consequences. When I was around your age, my hair was in a pixie cut and I dyed it purple. I liked it a lot, because purple was and is my favorite colour; it was a way of self-expression that would fade out by the time school started again. I was a really shy, quiet girl who would rather read than talk to people, so it was also a great conversation starter. However, people made a lot of stupid assumptions about me. Some people just assumed that I was a punk, or a lesbian (nothing wrong with that, except that I'm not,) or a delinquent, just because my hair wasn't up to society's standards. A lot of judgement came my way, and there were days I wanted to dye my hair back to natural ASAP.On the other hand, everyone who knew me gave me tons of compliments. My friends would gush about how cool it was, and they played with it almost constantly. ;) Occasionally, strangers would come up to me and say how much they liked my hair. My parents were totally on board, because they knew I needed a little confidence boost. Now that I'm older and have tried almost everything, I found a compromise: I put unnaturally coloured highlights in my hair instead of all-over colour (I just got rid of green and blue, and I'm putting in some pink and purple in a week :D ). It doesn't get as many horrified looks, but it gets just as many compliments and allows me to express myself through my hair.So really, if you want to dye your hair, go for it. Maybe try a few different things, and see what works for you, but remember to have FUN with it!
