Should I Go Back To The Psych Unit

Can the hospital detox you in their psych unit...?

Well, in a way yes the psych ward will help you detox. They may prefer to put you in a detox unit, but regardless of where you stay in a hospital, there's really no way you can use or abuse drugs. They regulate everything. So, yes in a sense, the psych ward can help a person detox. Although, they may not admit you for drug abuse, let alone keep you there long enough to detox completely!

Can a psych ward do this? is 14 too young to date?

I am a 14 year old boy. A few months ago I spent 9 days in an adolescent psych ward. On the psych ward, I flirted with girls and even got my first kiss, me and one of the girls french kissed. Ironically, I was admitted to the psych ward was because I have been out of control throwing tantrums and obsessed on wanting a girlfriend. Since I have been out of the psych ward, I have continued the same behaviors and wanted to go back to there because I find its a place where I can pick up a girlfriend.

On numerous occasions in the past, I would get out of control and be brought to the hospital emergency room, where it takes 3 hours to see a doctor since they are so slow. By the time 3 hours went by I was in control and they would send me home. It was almost a game to me. However the last time, I got upset again in the emergency room, so they decided to keep me.

Anyways, last week I was out of control and brought back to the emergency room. I was happy because I would meet girls on the psych ward. However the doctor told me because of this they would not take me, they would instead send me to an all boys psych hospital 100 miles across state (a psych hospital where adolescent boys and girls are on separate units). I wanted to ask could they really do that? Would the hospital send a horny boy far away like that just to keep him away from girls?

How long do they keep you after admitting yourself into the psych ward?

From personal experience:

If it is an involuntary or voluntary admission doesn't matter. Once you've been admitted, they are legally bound to keep for for at least 3 days. If you get there & someone tells you differently, it is a tactic to keep you calm. In NO way should you believe that you can leave when ever you want.

Even with a suicide attempt, the usualy stay is no longer than 4 days, 5 tops.

A midwest psyh. ward will run around $5,000-$7,000 a week with no insurance. The "room & board" alone is at least $500.00 per day.

If you've attempted sucide and are brought to the psych unit straight from the ER, the hospital will usually take you even if it's only for the 3 days. Most faithbased hopitals (Catholic) won't turn someone away based on abiltiy to pay and may also have financial/charity assistance available.

Best of luck to you.
