Why can't students talk back to teachers?
There is a difference between explaining something and talking back. Talking back is when you argue and give back attitude. If a student tries to argue with me I consider that talking back. If your teacher really sent you to the office just for talking then she has a problem with managing students. I suspect there is a little more to this then you are saying. My principal would send a child back if I sent them to the office just for talking. You got detention for disrespecting the teacher. From what you have written, you seem to think that teachers and students are equals. That is not the case. The teacher is the authority figure in the class. The teacher witnessed you being disobedient. He/she might not have observed the other student. As someone already said, there is a time and a place. You should have just gone to the office and explained what happened. Then you should have talked to the teacher later. If you are usually well mannered the teacher probably would have listened. As for your last question, you provided no evidence that the teacher disrespected you. Sending you out for being disobedient and disrespectful is not disrespectful to students.
How do u have a really serious talk with your teacher?
honesty is the best policy, go up to your teacher after class or school and say something like: "i have something really important to talk to you about but i'm really nervous so here it goes" they aren't gonna turn you down or make fun of you in any way do no be worried teachers are always there to help i've cried in front of teachers before and they have never been like "OMG STOP CRYING YOU BABY YOU ARE STUPID" they are always very kind and understanding i used to be that shy girl but honestly, it doesn't matter as long as you know talking to your teacher will settle the problem, you shouldn't worry about being shy just have you best interest in mind and go for it and you will feel much better once you've settled your issue good luck sweetie :)

They will be more than glad to listen and be there for you. They see you 5 days a week, they're a part of your life and you a part of theirs. They're very interested in your well being.
What do I do if I can’t talk to my teachers or guidance councler or parents?
I’m in high school in NYC and I’m sad/depressed/anxious/suicidal and might have an eating disorder. When I try to talk to someone I get to nervous last min and make up another reason why I wanted to talk (like my grades or fake drama) I feel like I should talk to a teacher or something but I can’t. I go into the guidance office and get to nervous, I actually just walked out once. What do I go?
