What age do USA kids leave school?

Hi i'm from the U.K.

I was wondering at what age do kids leave school in America?

Here in the UK we leave school at 16 years old.

High School in the UK is 11-16 Years old.

But in America do you leave school at 18 and then do whatever you want like go to college?

Its just a question that had been bugging me so I thought I might as wel ask :)

Leaving after 4th year?

Hi I'm 14,nearly 15 im going into 3rd year at the end of the summer and when I leave school(end of 4th year) I want to apply for the visa lottery so I can move to America.but if I want to Apply I have to have done my leaving cert and 12 years of school.12 years will be at the end of 4th year,so if I was leaving at the end of 4th year would they let me do my Leaving cert then? Or are u only allowed to do it after 5th year?thanks.

5 years of high school or 4 years?

4 years of high school is more than enough. 5 years of college would be better because it would allow you to really learn not just in class but in the environment you are living. In college I was so busy getting good grades that I did not really learn life lessons. ( I graduated in 3 years) There are people from many states and countries that I could have enhanced my education through conversation but I did not go there. High School, just learn the information and move on. The requirement for high school are so light for real students that you can do it in less than 4 years if you try. Invest time in college, get through high school as quickly as possible.

When do you leave school in america?

Most people stay in high school until they graduate. The last year is called 12th grade. People are usually 17 or 18 at this time. After high school some people get jobs. Others go to community or junior college which are colleges that offer two year degrees or offer two years as a stepping stone as these colleges are usually close to home before going to college or university. A lot of students go to college or university which offers 4 year degrees called a bachelors then 2 to 3 year degrees called masters and then 2-3 year professor or doctorate degrees.

At what age do people usually finish high school?

In Canada, the usual age range to graduate is from 17–19 years old. Due to taking a thirteenth year or having a birthday later in the year, people could be a year younger or a year older than 18. My own sister graduated at 17 and I will graduate at age 18 (Gods, that’s weird to think about).Generally speaking, most people will graduate in grade 12 or grade 13. Many of them will go on to go apprenticeships, college, university, or start their own businesses. Thanks for the A2A!

If you drop out of high school and come back the following school year, will you be a part of your graduating class? Or would you be held back a year?

Typically the way it would go, assuming they wanted you back in their school because you're a great student, they would most likely promote you to the next grade but make you take a full schedule and complete any courses you didn't earn enough credits in. Your graduation depends on completion of certain core courses like English, math, history, and Physical Education, and typically at least one language course. When you've satisfied that requirement, in most cases you need only earn enough credits to be considered a graduating senior. Theoretically, you could complete high school by sophomore year just on the premise that you took all the required courses and earned enough overall credits. Your school may work differently, but if you can work it out with your guidance counselor, you can be promoted to the next grade and just complete any courses from your previous year that you didn't attend. For example I was a senior taking sophomore classes that I missed after transferring schools just because I had to pass that course as a requirement for graduation. I was still a senior, just had to take a sophomore class. Not fun.

I started high school at age 12.What age do American children start?

American children usually go to Kindergarten around age 5*. A "pre-K" year is also fashionable in some parts of the country.Elementary School consists of grades 1 through grade 5 or 6, depending on the school district. In my children's district it is through grade 5, where I grew up it is through grade 6. This is roughly from age 6 to age 11.Junior High School is typically grades 7 and 8 only, while Middle School generally includes grades 6, 7 and 8.High School begins with grade 9 ("Freshman year"), and includes grade 10 ("Sophomore year"), grade 11 ("Junior year"), and grade 12 ("Senior year"). Most high school students are 13 or 14 years old when they start, and are 17 or 18 years old when they graduate. It is also not uncommon for someone to skip a grade. For example, one of my best friends skipped 5th grade. His birthday is in December, and he had been one of the oldest kids in his grade. He was very bright, so they advanced him from 4th grade directly to 6th grade, where he was now one of the youngest kids in the class. My dad didn't skip any grades, but still graduated from high school at age 16. It just goes to show you how variable the system can be.___*The exact age of the child depends on when his/her birthday falls. School starts in August or September and runs through May or June. Different local school districts have slightly different schedules, and the ages are not mandated by state law in California.

At what age does british students graduate from high school?

No age. Graduation is something we do from university.

If you mean what age do we leave school, then legally at 16. However, this leaves you with no chance of going to university or getting many jobs, so most people stay on until 18.
