Should I Quit My Cheerleading Team

Should i Quit Cheerleading?

Okay, so i know this sounds bad, but my dad really wanted to me try out for cheer cuz i did it in middle school and loved EVERY minute of it. but at my high school, people make fun of the cheerleaders unless your totally kewl, and stuff. so i'm only a sophmore, and i'm not the high on the 'popularity' scale, i mean, i'm friends with popular people, but i myself am kinda dorky! so, i tried out, and made it, but i only tried out to get out of a day of softball, and cuz my dad wanted me to. then i totally screwed up my tryout, on purpose, to ensure the 'not making it' but NO i made it! and it was probably the cheer coach that convinced the judge people, but w/e. so, i've hated every minute of this, the cheering, the practices, the lack of bff's on the team. and plus we have to share the football bus with the guys! i don't want to do that! and i'm not even girly! so i was thinking i could just do football season, and quit at b-ball season, but i'm really not sure. i mean, I know i want to, all my bff's know i want to, but i don't want death daggers from the two returns from last year! i have other sports with them! so, if you have any advice, that would be much appreciated!

I hate my cheerleading team!?

okay so im on a competitive cheerleading team. im on junior level 2. i love my teammates except for a few. the ones i hate are older then me and try to boss me around but trust me they're not the reason i want to quit! well first of all i think i should fly. i am 5 foot and weigh 75 pounds. also, i don't think im learning the things i need to be. i have my round-off back handspring but im not working on two even though i should be! how am i ever going to work on my tuck if i don't get two back handsprings! also, my team like sucks. a girl on my team is working on a cartwheel! our dance is stupid too. my mom wants me to quit too. but since i have a competition this weekend and iv been on this team since april do you think i should quit?

Should I quit cheerleading?

My daughter is asking herself the same question after devoting 5yrs of time, sweat, cheer tears for competitive cheer team. She is also a junior in high school with an aggressive course load (Honors Physics, AP Literature, and AP Trig) and does not plan to take it easy her senior year. While we still have not figured out what we are going to do, I've posed a few pros/cons to her. PRO (#1) You love cheer...performing, tumbling, stunting. You love your program and you bleed purple blood. (#2) You've spent 5yrs at cheer, do you want to quit now? You can cheer through senior year, but if you quit now you've shortened your career. You won't be doing this when you're 20 or 30yrs old. (#3) If you were in a high school sport (tennis, bball, swimming) from freshman year through now, would you quit or would you continue to push? CON (#1) You have to wait to get a job to make your OWN $. (#2) Continued frustration with the lack of seriousness and committment of some on your team. (#3) You won't have as much study time as you want and you will still be under pressure to do well in school.

Your coach is right....having a job will absolutely intefere with cheer. Allstar cheer is an all year sport and it requires (and your team deserves) your full committment. Honey, this is a toughy but I wish you and my cheerleader all the happiness in the world. After your senior year, you'll both be graduating and can look back at your cheer days with satisfaction. I don't think you'll look back 5yrs from now and say "I wish I had gotten a summer job instead".

Anyway, the following may be options to help pay for cheer:

-get a job at your cheer gym helping out with the tiny's (if you have them and it won't be too strenuous)
-write letters to companies in your area who might consider sponsoring you
-ask parents to pay lump sum cheer fees with tax return (and you work off the @ around the house)
-if your folks do this, ask your gym if you can get a % off for paying all at once instead of monthly
-ask your gym to create scholarships (the best way to get financial help is to help others)

I know this does not give you the answer, but as I said before, my daughter is trying to figure it out as well. All the best my dear. I'm sure you will make the right decision.

Illinois Cheer Mom

Should i quit cheerleading?

Basically, I'm all stressed out by it. I joined the highschool team, and it's nothing but stress for me right now. My best friend quit cheerleading so I don't have many people to talk to on the team anymore, I am constantly getting hurt (I got a bruise up to half of my arm, its ridiculously huge) and I'm cutting my dad's work time, and they're having a tough time on money now.
I feel bad for quitting and all, but I am non-stop worrying about cheerleading, I think about it ALL the time, I have practice 3 times a week and I always dread practices. My dad said even though some money has already been spent, even more money will be used up if i keep on continuing from gas, competition, traveling, etc. My dad always has to come home early from work to take me to cheer, which cuts his overtime, and we are doing bad on money >_>. My mom is telling me to stay on the team since i won't have anything to do in high school she claims. All my friends said i should quit if im not enjoying it and keep getting hurt. I feel bad if i quit though, since 2 people on the team already quit, but its just the beginning of the season. I honestly don't know what to do anymore. help :(

My cheerleading team hate me?

I have found in cheerleading there is tons of drama. My daughter is an amazing tumbler on her team and there is, what I call, jealousy directed her way. If your coach believes you are not the best flyer for your team....he will be the one to decide you should be changed, so the girls can ***** all they want. It is not their decision to make. If you know you can do a good job...then get up there and do your best and then when they see you can do what they are asking of you...they will get down to business and work as a team and not bring so much drama to practices. In all moves in cheerleading it all boils down to staying TIGHT and LOCKING OUT. You can never fly correctly if you are all lose and floppy in your flying.

Are my reasons good to quit cheerleading?

Well now I'm on te varsity basketball squad and this is my third yr cheering every yr I do I really don't like it because of the girls. I really love cheering and if y friends were on the squad I would love it even more but If the coach tells me to quit I would love that just as much. I cheered in 8th grade took a break then tried sophmore yr and the girls invited all thejv to a pool party I went and I socialize and the next day of practice no one. Talked to me like the pool party nv happened (which is common). no matter how hard I try they just don't seem to want to be my friend ad every timebi suggest an idea they don't like it or wen I say somthing they ignore me . But yet at the same time I want to cheer . And idk how my mom is going to take it cause she is the type to stick to things till the end but idk if I can this time . and I want to tell her before she spends over 4oo dollars on it (yeA it's expensive) I rather finally play piano and get lessons and focus on track (I did track all 3 yrs andbi love it and the girls ) . So what should I do? and how tk tell my mom and convince her....but at the same tine I still kinda want to cheer

Should I quit my cheer team?

I'm starting my 2nd year on varsity cheer at my school and I'm contemplating as to whether or not I should quit (a.k.a not try out next season which starts in November). I loved cheerleading when I joined freshmen year. I loved it even more when I was moved from freshmen to varsity, skipping JV. But now I'm really, really sick of it. I only talk to 2 girls on our team. Well no that's a lie; I TALK to everyone but only 2 people are nice to me in return. The coach is a *****. And I mean a short, bitter, evil little *****. Nobody likes her. Not even the parents of the cheerleaders. She's so obsessed with winning that she cares more about it than we do.
The only reason I'm staying right now is because I'm scared that it will look bad on my transcripts if I quit. And it is kind of a confidence boost when we wear our uniforms to school... I'm not gonna lie.
But other than that I have no reason to be there. Actually I'm taking 4 AP classes this year and I'd rather focus on those rather than dumb cheerleading.
Cheer makes up about 90% of my stress. When I wake up in the morning I think to myself "Oh.. it's so nice out! OH MY GOD I HAVE PRACTICE! NO!" and my day is ruined. Plus I suck at tumbling (gymnastics); I have this serious phobia of it. We tumble everyday and I cannot even begin to explain how high my stress level is because of it.
Should I stay just for the credit or quit (in November)? I don't think I'll be able to last another 2 years on this team (I'm going into 11th grade). Help?

Should i quit my high school cheerleading squad?

I think that if you really enjoy the sport of cheerleading, you'll be having fun with it, and people will enjoy your enthusiasm and you as a person! Would you regret if you quit? I quit my sophomore year and I gotta say I missed cheering so much! But that's just me! :) Don't do something you'd regret by quitting something you love! And it's normal to feel awkward! I cheered freshman year, quit sophomore year, and started again this year, my junior year. I felt really awkward my first day, even though a lot of my really super good friends were there, but now, at our second... or third, I don't remember haha... We already are having soooo much fun and having inside jokes, and I guess I'm officially called Mike hahah :) I think it will get better! It's just weird at first because its been a while since you've all been together. But If you're having fun with the sport then definitely keep going with it, and I promise friends will come eventually in things like.. stunt groups, stretching, and games you cheer at :) :)

Should I quit cheerleading if my coach talks badly about me and others?

If you want to quit because of what your coach does, you will give up something that you like. It’s hard to be subjected to what some mean people do, but this is your life and you could just accept that your coach is creepy, and do what you love.Don’t be so eager to quit because things aren’t the way you like. You can get past this if you choose.
