Should I Re-take The Asvab Try To Get In Coast Guard

Retake ASVAB for Army?

You have to wait a certain amount of time before you can retake it. I think its 6 months.

Your AFQT score is plenty good enough. Your GT score is pretty good, it should be good enough for most jobs. Most jobs don't really require a GT score though - they require a lot of the other line scores.

Pending on the job you want - your scores should be good enough. I would pick your job first. Find out the line score you need for that job, then see if you made it high enough. The highest line score in the Army is for 25S Satellite Coms which is a 120 EI score. Most aren't that high.

68W medic, you need a ST(Skilled Technical) of 95 I believe.

Should I retake the ASVAB ?

No sir he isn't!! Surprise, shock, it's infrequent however he's being sincere. You can take it as in many instances as you wish, the seize you almost always must wait 6 months among experiment and in case your rating is going down any wherein, you're sadly caught with that new rating. Good success, I might research up if I had been you!! Taken the ASVAB greater than as soon as, move me my ratings all went up no less than 10 to fifteen pts!! The ASVAB isn't a move or fail experiment, this can be a placement experiment for jobs are open to you, it isn't just like the SAT's. The handiest technique to "fail" is to attain like a 25 total. A greater rating simply opens up extra profession offerings.

ASVAB, AFQT, LINE SCORES-Coast Guard :)?

While it's above the minimum, you won't have a great shot of acceptance in the Coast Guard at all with an AFQT of 50. You definitely want to take it again.

To take it a 2nd time, you have to wait a month from your 1st. To take it a 3rd and subsequent times, you have to wait 6 months between tests. Bottom line, study up and try to do better on your second try.

For HS, minimum line scores: AR + GS+ MK + VE = 207 and AR at least 50.

Assuming you do get into the Coast Guard with whatever your AFQT is but don't have the line scores for the rating you want, you can also continue to take the ASVAB (same rules about waiting between tests apply) once already in the service, for purposes of trying to get the line scores.

Good luck!

ASVAB SCORE FOR COAST GUARD?!!?

65 is pretty much the 'shu-in' score.. however a score in the 40's is the minimum.. you will be able to pick BM and other jobs similar.. however if your extremely serious about picking AST you gotta score big time cause you have to score pretty damn high for AST. I took the test and physical with the army but opted out of DEP, talking to a coast guard recruiter but he is very lazyish.. im going for BM as well. unless another 2 weeks go by and nothing about me going to MEPS to take the USCG oath and contract than im going navy.

the test isnt that hard however.. im 19 and havnt been in school in like 2 years yet still scored a 68

best of luck

Army or national guard retake asvab?

You can retake it after 30 days

but that doesn't mean your recruiter is willing to take you to retake it

IE: you have no " right " to retake the asvab

2. and with a score of 31, most recruiters would not want you to retake the asvab

because if you scored a 29 the 2nd time -- then your ineligible to enlist

3. only the last score counts, they throw out the previous scores

so if you retake it and score lower -- you just screwed yourself

Is my Asvab score high enough to be an AST in the Coast Guard?

Yes, the ASVAB is timed and you can't use a calculator. The test isn't too bad but that depends on your test taking skills and general knowledge of various subjects. I recommend getting one of these prep books
It can make a big difference in how well you do since you'll know exactly what to expect on the test. The higher your score, the more opportunities you'll have and the better jobs you can qualify for so don't take the test lightly just because some people say it's easy. There's a big difference between doing okay and doing extremely well.

The prep/study book will get you used to the timing of the test so you know how long to spend on each question and get used to the time pressure you'll be under. They give you everything you need to know to do well. Good luck!

What should i choose in the coast guard?

I don't know what happened to your other question I answered... so here it is again...

You don't have to worry about choosing a rating yet - you haven't even hit Cape May. For your final selection - after you make E-3 - just consider the following questions:

What do I like to do?
What do I want to do when I get out (either after 4-years or 20)?
What do I HATE doing?

MK's are our mechanics - they work on gas and diesel engines, as well as heating and A/C units and boiler systems.
DC's are our builders - they weld and work construction.
HS's are our medics - doing everything from updating medical records to giving shots and doing physicals and even providing routine medical care.

All three can give you what you need for civilian employment once you get out - and all three can be a heck of a lot of fun while you are in... but it totally depends upon what YOU like and what YOU dislike.

None of them will either help or keep you away from getting stationed on the Left Coast. We have all three ratings all over the place.

If you are interested in doing boardings and SAR, I would recommend MK, but all three CAN do it (depending on your unit allowing you to do it). Personally, I'd get some ASVAB practice tests and retake the ASVAB so you would qualify for more ratings with a higher score.

Can I change jobs after joining the coast guard, or retake the asvab after basic?

I recently took the asvab a few times for the Coast Guard in attempt to score high enough to be an HS(Health Services technition) Unfortunately I didn't score high enough. My recruiter told me that because I have taken it 3 times now, that I will have to wait 6months before I can take it again. Or, I could go in with the score that I have. I have pretty much decided that I will go in with the score that I have. I would just like to know if I could take it again. If so would I have to sign up for something else first? When could I take the asvab again. Would I have to go through alot just to get an opportunity to take it again? Any info, or insite would be much appreciated. Thank you. - Andy.

Are you able to retake the ASVAB even if you pass?

Yes, within standards, you can re-take the ASVAB test as per Kaysibabes post. Point of fact though; unless the score you are going with is from a test you took in the 11th grade where you were just screwing off and not trying, it's highly doubtful you'll have any significant increase in scores. The only real way to gain significant points on the ASVAB test is to enroll in college core classes and build on your English and math skills. The line scores that help determine MOS/jobs/Ratings go off what you already know and natural aptitude. Seldom ever does a person re-test and make any significant improvement unless they bring a real lucky pencil.

If you aren't deployed in the Coast Guard, do you have a 9-5?

Thanks for the A2AIt depends. If you are stationed on a base or a headquarters then you may well have a 9–5 job 9 (though it is usually 7–5) However small boat station and various cutters and units such as MSO may have very different hours. So I will give you some examples from my time in the CGWhen assigned to aMedium Endurance Cutter we generally worked a 7–4 work day when in port. However when the engineering dpt was short handed we worked 12–12 3 days on and 1 off. When I transferred to a small boat station we worked 96 on 48 off. I then went to a resident inspector job and I was required to be on site any time contractors were present. This meant I was often on duty in excess of 24 hours. From the inspector job I went to an Area Training Team. typically when on the road we worked anywhere from 8 to 16 hour days, with no particular schedule and while home we tended to work a shortened 6 hour work day, but we were only home 6–10 weeks per year (during the 3 years I was there we were gone 42 weeks twice and 46 weeks the last year). From that I went to 2 back to back jobs as Public Works Officer for a base. those were 7–5 jobswith duty every on average every 4th day. After the PWO jobsI went to a Marine Inspector position. After 16 wees of training the job hours were generally until the assigned inspections were done. when the inspection would take over 1 day the days could be 9–5 but could also be 6am to 12AM. When in the office doing paper work then the hours were normal civilian hours (in NYC that meant 8:30 to 4)One thing I should mention is that while on cutters or other law enforcement/SAR units you will usually be in some form of Bravo recall status. This can run from Bravo Zero and up. At Bravo Zero you have to be reachable and able to return to base within 15 minutes. Bravo one is 30 minutes, Bravo two is 1 hour. Regardless of which Bravo status you are on you must be reachable at all times. With the advent of cell phones this became much easier. Back in my time it was land lines so you were constantly calling in telling the OOD where you were.
