Should I Treat The Ammonia

How do I treat an ammonia rash?

I do the dishes at my job and I get a really bad rash on my arms and hands from our sanitizer water which is made with ammonia. We recently found out we ve been making our water too strong and that s why I m getting these rashes. Its been going on for a year now, is that dangerous for me? And what helps it heal?

HOW DO YOU TREAT FOR AMMONIA POISONING?

Yes, you do the water change every week. You want to get a gravel vacuum so you can clean down into the gravel where all the fish food that's not eaten and the fish poo falls. If you just take out the water with a cup, then the rest of the waste stays behind.

The only thing you need to add to the water you put back in the tank is something to remove the chlorine/chloramine. And you want to run a little warm water into what you use to take the water to the tank so it's about the same temperature as what's already in the tank.

Because the next step after ammonia is nitrite, and you don't have a way of testing for that [yet], add just a little bit of salt to the tank [1 tablespoon for every 5 gallons of water]. The salt helps to protect them from nitrite poisoning.

But the best way to remove ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate is by doing water changes.

Also, when you do a water change, put the old water you took out of the tank in a clean bucket, and use that water to clean the pads inside your filter. You don't want to change them, or rinse them under tapwater because the chlorine from your tapwater will kill the good bacteria that converts the ammonia and nitrite to nitrate, which is a lot safer for your fish.

ADDED The 25% is what you would do during an *average* week. But like I told you in your other question, you should do daily changes until your pearlscale starts acting normally again.

How do a treat ammonia burns in goldfish?

Black spots from ammonia burns actually signify that the goldfish is healing from ammonia burns. Do NOT change 100% of the water as it can damage the fish's slime coat and stress them out when moving them. You should do a 50% water change instead or use Ammo-Lock which makes ammonia harmless.

by the way, you should finish cycling your tank.

Why is chromatogram treated with ammonia gas?

Silica gel is polar and mildly acidic. When you try to separate polar compounds on a TLC plate, it sometimes help to pre-treat the plate with ammonia to neutralize some of these acid sites. This has the effect of making the plate less polar, allowing for a cleaner separation of the spots.

I've used this technique in the past. Simply holding the plate over the neck of an open bottle of ammonium hydroxide for a few seconds is sufficient. Conversely, 1% NH4OH in the mobile phase accomplishes the same.

What is the best treatment for ammonia burn in gills?

What I can think of is to make sure the water condition is pristine and keep temp slightly on the lower range of the fish normal range, this enable the Dissolved Oxygen to be slightly higher and will probably help it breath better until it recovers.

My betta fish has ammonia burns, how do I treat him?

There's really only two things you can do to treat the current condition and that is large water frequent water changes and using a general fish medication that treats skin oriented injuries or diseases, Melafix being one of them.

To prevent this from happening again once you've cured him, is keeping up with the water changes and do not overfeed, the chief cause of high ammonia levels. This is easy to do when you have one Betta fish as it only requires dropping in a single pellet right above his head every day. However, in a community tank, just sprinkle in a few flakes. It's better to have underfed fish than dead fish as a result of overfeeding or ammonia burns. Good luck. :)

How effective is using ammonia to treat bee stings?

Bee stings are acidic and so an alkaline solution will help ease the pain.  However ammonia is fairly aggressive and it will work to ease the pain it may well cause other problems.  I would suugest bicarbonate of soda as a better choice.

What if you inhale bleach and ammonia?

What if you inhale bleach and ammoniaWell, if you actually inhale either liquid, your lung tissue will be so damaged, you die. So don’t do that. If you inhale the fumes from either one, your lung tissues will be damaged in the same degree as how much you inhale and for how long. Not much and just a few seconds, not much, if any damage. A lot and for a long time, lots of damage, possibly enough to kill you. So don’t do that, either. If you mix the two chemicals, there is a chemical reaction that releases a very poisonous gas called chloramine gas. ( this is not the same as mustard gas, although a common myth describes the chloramine as mustard gas) . However, the chloramine gas is poisonous, too.
