Should I Wait To Get My Second Tongue Piercing

Can I smoke after my tongue piercing?

I just cringe at the question. Can you smoke after a tongue piercing? Yes. Should you? Not til it’s healed, give or take about 2 weeks. Google “Dry socket” it’s painful, causes healing to take longer and be more dreadful, and yes- It is a common thing with tongue piercings with any kind of suction. I had a partial dry socket occur because I used a straw for a slushy without thinking about it, NOT fun or worth that slushy at all. I couldn’t imagine smoking, since that also has so many toxins that you’d be exposing to an open wound in your mouth risking infection and further irritation and just general unnecessary risk. If you do decide to smoke, do mouth wash after every cigarette to help clean up toxins, and like another poster suggests, you may need to dilute the mouthwash to avoid even further irritation depending on your sensitivity level. (Everyone is a little bit different)

If you get a tongue piercing, can you numb it? And does a piercing in the middle of your tongue hurt?

Yes, it is possible to have your tongue numbed before getting it pierced. However, numbing the tongue may make it more difficult for you to feel if something is incorrect or wrong about the piercing, until it is too late.Make sure to chose a piercer who is experienced, and preferably licensed and accredited with the APP, or the Association of Professional Piercers.Poorly placed piercings and poor quality jewelry can cause a lot of damage. If your piercer utilizes breathing techniques, when your tongue is pierced, you usually just feel a short pinch of the needle, and the needle and jewelry going through the tongue. After the initial pinch, you may just feel some pressure or movement. It is not a super painful piercing. The biggest annoyance is initial jewelry length, and swelling following the piercing. It is important to follow good aftercare and oral hygiene, and only get jewelry changed (by your piercer) after the initial healing period.Good luck! Happy piercing!P.S. The gauge or thickness of the needle used may affect how painful the piercing is. However, unless you are going for a large piercing ( which usually would be scalped or possibly dermal punched), no worries. 12 gauge or 10 gaugeis fine and dandy.

How long should I wait to get a second piercing after getting my first piercing?

You could get them done at the same time? but if you don't want to do that than personally I would just wait tell my ears were not swore any more but that's different from person to person but for me about a month or so... NEEDLE FOR BOTH! Guns are bad ! they can not be sterilized properly ! Never go to Clare's or any place like that because they don't even have an auto clave ! Um really no other tips when you go to a piercing shop they will go over all the healing and after-care type stuff.

Getting tongue pierced for a second time!!!!! I have a question for you! :] Obviously.?

If you have it done in a different place to the first time then chances are it'll feel exactly the same as it did the first time round.

If you have it done in the same place, it will be slightly more tender but apparently not that much worse. One of my friends is on her last chance lol - if she takes it out again she can't have it re-done as it's now been done four times and there's getting to be too much scarring there. I never took out my original as I love it too much, but my second piercing (in front of the original one) hurt a bit more but was still totally fine - my first was numbed, the second wasn't.

Getting my tongue pierced for the second time? Help me!?

Hey! Two years ago I got my tongue pierced but I had to take it out for one night so it closed. Now I still have the scar thing, but I'm getting my tongue pierced again tomorrow! I heard some people saying that you can't do it again, or that if you do it hurts a lot more than the first time Is that true? How does the old scar affects my new tongue piercing? Help me guys please!
Thank you so much!

Can you talk after getting your tongue pierced? I want to get it done on Saturday before I work that night. I'm a cashier. Is it a dumb idea?

Do not get it done before you work. I actually did that.I got my tongue a bit impulsively, one friend said “yeah I could definitely see you with a tongue piercing!” What turned into her getting new jewelry, turned into me getting a new piercing. Literally right before I went into work. I ran into work the second I was done getting pierced. The inital piercing for me, definitely hurt, but left me with a dull pain in my tongue. My tongue definitely swelled though, and I am a main cashier at my work. I had a bad lisp (I sounded like the one girl in Zoey 101… if you know, you know). I could NOT pronounce any words with the “th” sound. I still can’t pronounce my “threes” correctly. I had a very hard time communicating with customers and often they would be saying “what???” right back at me. I did my best to not talk at all.If you can wait til a day you aren’t working, trust me it’ll save you some aching. Your tonge will just swell up a bunch, you’re gonna want to drink a TON of ice cold water, your words are gonna be messy, it’s all just a bit messy.

Got my tongue pierced 3 days ago...?

You need to get a new piercer, that is horrible aftercare advice. You're only supposed to use mouthwash once a day, anymore than that and you'll destroy tooth enamel which will make your teeth more sensitive and will increase your chances of chipping a tooth and even loosing one. Please only use it once a day as recommended by most dentists. What you should use instead of mouthwash (make sure it's alcohol-free), is a salt soak mixture. I suggest you get a gallon of water and dilute 4 tablespoons of non-inonized sea salt in it. After you eat something, fill up a shot glass or something like that, put it in the microwave and warm it up. Once it's warm, just gargle it in your mouth as you would the mouthwash. Be sure to do at least one salt soak a day for 5-10 minutes.

Soup, yogurt, popsicles, ice, anything that's cold/lukewarm, you can eat. It's best that you avoid hot/spicy food for 2-3 weeks so your tongue can calm down and so it doesn't get really irritated again.

The swelling should last for 2-3 weeks, generally, and during this time it's recommended you don't drink, smoke or eat hot/spicy food because all of this isn't good for the piercing (you can eat hot/spicy food, it's just very irritating). Be careful when you eat so you don't accidentally bite done on the tongue ring and chip a tooth and please make sure you're eating. Not eating is not good for you or your piercing.
