Should The Title Belong To A Guy That Doesn

I bought a car with a lost title. the guy i bought it from doesn't know the pre owner not stolen. need title.

First of all to state the obvious you should never buy a vehicle without a title. That said you need to investigate a little on your own. Your local police office could probably run the VIN to determine if it is stolen. If that is not possible go to www.carfax.com or www.autocheck.com and run a report on the vehicle. This should tell you if the car has been reported as stolen.
In our state there are procedures for the salvage yard to obtain a title on an abandoned vehicle. I don't know how this is handled in N. Carolina or in Florida. We have what is known as a bonded title in our state. Where you have to maintain a bond in the amount of 2 or 3 times the value of the vehicle for a number of years, have the vehicle inspected by a dot investigator or highway patrol officer and then submit the appropriate application for title.
Check with www.dmv.org and click on your state for assistance or contact your dmv office.
Good Luck

What is the law on selling property that doesn't belong to you?

I bought a mobile home from a guy I worked with. A short time later he ended up in prison on a parole violation and I wasn't able to get the title from him. Evidently the home belonged to his mother who was not happy that he sold it. Long story short I no longer live in this home and I'm out the money I paid him.

He doesn't want a title but acts like my boyfriend!?

If he chose you, then you are boyfriend and girlfriend, and that's it. Otherwise you are free to see whoever you like.

He acts like a boyfriend, but doesn't want the title?

I have been dating this guy for five months now, and he is absolutely amazing! ( He is 26 and I am 21) He cooks me food all of the time, always takes me out, I have met his family and he has met mine. We talk all day every day and visit each other about three times a week. (he lives an hour away) The thing is, is that he doesn't want me to officially be called his "girlfriend" even though we are exclusive. He IS divorced and has been hurt badly in the past. We just recently had a heart to heart about everything he has been through, which sort of explains it. And I have brought this issue up to him before and he told me that the girl changes as soon as it becomes a relationship. But that one day he has intentions of making it official. Not exactly sure what he meant by the girl changes but he prefers to let things develop naturally and not rush anything like he has in the past. I can truly appreciate going slow and not pressuring anything but sometimes I feel a little disappointed or impatient at times. It's like we are basically bf and gf so what's the harm in calling each other that? I was just hoping someone else has been through something similar and can give me advice or have any opinions? Thank you so much!

I bought this car from this guy and now he won't give me the title...?

this is question gives more details.
ok so i already had the car in my possession but then he wanted me to pay for it later so he signed a bill of sale gave it to me than i would give him the money when he got it cause i think he didn't have it right than or something so anyways a few weeks pass buy and he says he has the title (we were friends and worked together) so he says three hundred dollars cash and i'll give you the title so i said ok he said let me count it than i asked for it back and he threatened to put me in the hospital (*** hole!!) so i said okay but give me the title so he said follow me to the bank and i'll give you it i followed him and than he gave me an envelope and left so i looked inside and it looked like a title so i drive the court house or treasures office to license it and i open it and get out the paper work and its all a bunch of receipts and stuff and on top of that they said that it looks like he still is on a loan through the bank for the car so he doesn't even have the title wtf!!!

sorry that was so long lol had alot to explain

What does it mean if someone name is on the title of the home and not the mortgage?

The loan person I went to see, say she just wanted to do the mortgage in my name, not also my boyfriends name, but she stated that she could put his name on the title, what exactly does that mean, does that mean he would legally own half of my house? and in the event that we break up, I would half to give him half my profit from the house if I sell it? Is this a good idea or not? Also what if he currently has judgements against him, could a lein be put on the house? thanks

Guy wants to buy my car with no title?

It is not a good idea for either one of you. He will never be able to own, title, register, insure or drive that car without a title and he will come back to you and will quickly come back to you and ask that you get a duplicate for him. Avoid the hassle for both of you. Request a duplicate title from your DMV. They will likely give it to you on the spot at a walk in DMV office. Keep your license plates. . Letting him have them is even a worse idea than selling him a car without a title. I believe that He is trying something shady here. Don't leave yourself vulnerable and liable to a lawsuit.

Where in the world do people get the notion that a "bill of sale" replaces the need for a title? A bill of sale without a title is not worth the paper it is written on.

What does it mean when name on car title doesn't match name in DMV database?

My mom just spent her savings to buy a vehicle from someone on craigslist, the guy seemed really nice and we drove to his house so we didn't think we would get screwed out of money. When my mom took the title to the DMV they said that the name didn't match in the DMV system. My mom paid the registration fee and everything was submitted but the person at the DMV didn't have an answer for my mom on what would happen. Please help!!
