Shoulder Injuries. Need Help

Shoulder injury, I have no insurance pls help.?

Sounds like a rotator cuff injury which I've been dealing with for 10 months. My suggestion is for now to stop any workout or anything causing pain in the shoulder. Next is to apply ice...the inflammation is whats causing most of the pain...next is to take an anti inflammatory...motrin or aleve. It can heal on its own if you baby it. It will take several weeks or maybe even months. If after all this you are still having problems you will have no choice but to see an ortho doc. Good Luck!

Shoulder injury help needed?

I had recently fallen and had some popping happening in my left shoulder. Like a good man I went to dr. had non contrast mri done. finally got the results back from mri, but since im just a mechanic I don't know what all this mumbo jumbo words mean... Moderately severe insertional supraspinatus tendinosis. some bursal sided fraying with 7 mm partial thickness rem rent tearing anterior insertion.

too many big words for me to really understand what it all means... any help?

Help, shoulder injury, cant weight lift, need some advice?

ive been lifting consistently for about 2 years, im in college, 20 yrs old, well i had a injury while lifting still not sure what it is yet, waiting til monday to see a shoulder specialist, well ive been outta the gym for about a week and counting, and i feel like a bum cos i cant go (doctors orders) is there anything i can do as far as exercise to maintain strength while i stop lifting, or even a way to remain cut and lean while im off.

P.S. for those of you who lift, i ususally do 14 weeks on and 2 weeks off, and ive just come off my 2 week resting period at the beginning of this month and thats when i got hurt, im hoping for the best in terms of the injury, but is there anything i can do to speed up the process..i know i should rest it, ice it, and take ibpuren...

How can I help my shoulder pain go away?

Some exercise may help you to get relief from shoulder pain like :

Rotator Cuff Exercises : To work the rotator cuff for shoulder pain, you should wrap a resistance band around a doorknob. Stand next to the door and grab the grip with the hand closest to the door knob. Bend your arm to a 90-degree angle and pull the resistance band across the abdominals. Release and repeat for a total of 12 reps. If you don't have a resistance band available, use any type of plastic tubing.

Stretching and light weights help strengthen the surrounding muscles that atrophy making shoulder stability worse. You should also be stretching to the edge of discomfort but not beyond and not before either. Pushing to this limit will slowly tell the body where to heal and what to lengthen for less stiffness.

Take some better diet help to get relief :

1.Fatty Acids - Tuna, salmon, nuts and seeds are high in fatty acids which are better for you than the name might suggest.

2.Sugar Free - High blood sugar levels are not good for you in general but also cause more swelling and inflammation.

3.Herbs and Spices - Chili, ginger and rosemary are some of the best herbs that also contain anti-oxidants and are well known for anti-inflammatory effects ion the joints of the body and can be used to spice up your meals too!

What is better for swimming shoulder injuries? Ice or heat?

Heat will encourage swelling as the heat makes the blood vessels expand. Ice will aide in the reduction of swelling and also helps alleviate pain. Normally, you heat before you workout to help the muslce relax and encourage stretch. After you workout, ice will help reduce the swelling and provide comfort. Also, Ibuprofen if your doctor allows it.

Follow your trainer's and doctor's advice before anyone else's though, that's the most important thing you can do! Depending on the type of injury, neither heat nor ice may help, you may need other treatment. Get it checked out if you haven't yet!!!

Good luck!

Shoulder pain???? Someone please help!!!!?

Nothing showed on the x-ray because its not your shoulder joint. Somehow, you've irritated and inflamed the area where the bicep meets it and the constant motion will aggravate this and cause the "clicking".

As you've had this for a year, its become chronic, rather than acute and will now take some time to resolve.

Tedious though this will sound, you need to alternate cold and heat on the area, for 5 minutes a time for an hour. So, bag of frozen broad beans or peas, alternating with a hot water bottle, or microwave hottie. Keeping your elbow resting on the arm of the sofa or easy chair and your forearm raised toward your shoulder (to shorten the bicep).
Do this every night for a couple of weeks and you will start noticing a difference. To finish the job it will take longer.

To explain your other symptoms - the cracking is typical of an "injury" like this and indicates that it is where the bicep attaches; it became "frozen" as unconciously you will have kept the arm mostly immobile during that week, because it hurt (the muscles will have stiffened with lack of motion); the change in temperature (from sun to rainy) sounds like an arthritic symptom, but as nothing showed on the x-ray (and arthritis would!) its not that, its simply that the arm muscle stiffens when the air is cooler.

I'm sorry there is no quick fix. Long term pains, sometimes have long-term solutions. If you decide to take any pain relievers with this, remember not to over-use the arm when the pain is lessened. You'll just be back at square one.

Can you practice BJJ with a shoulder injury?

If it was a different sport that you don’t need a lot of movement and pressure on the shoulder then yes, but BJJ puts a lot of strain on your shoulder. Even if you’re only on your back trying to defend a guard pass, I mean even the basic shrimp will put pressure on your shoulder. If it’s a torn labrum or a torn rotator cuff, I would definitely just go and get a surgery if I’m planning on doing it for a long time in my life.Source: Had injured shoulder during promotion, decided to get surgery after a month, got back a year and a half later. Still not fully recovered, but better when I injured it.
