Shoulder Pain On And Off For About Two Months. What Could This Be

Help extreme shoulder pain persisting over two months... what injury could i have?

Sounds like you have a rotator cuff injury. A rotator cuff injury is an injury to one or more of the four muscles in the shoulder. This shoulder injury may come on suddenly and be associated with a specific injury such as a fall (acute), or it may be something that gets progressively worse over time with activity that aggravates the muscle (chronic). Occasionally, even a simple act like rolling over in bed can result in a rotator cuff injury.

The type of injury can range from an inflammation of the muscle without any permanent damage, such as tendinitis, to a complete or partial tear of the muscle that might require surgery to fix it.

Help...so much pain in my shoulder...?

My shoulder has been incredibly painful on and off for about three months now. I have been to see two doctors....the first said it could be a muscle spasm and gave me anti-inflammatories and said that he couldnt diagnose further without an x ray....
The second didnt know what it was either and said to go back to the original GP

Basically, it hurts all along my collar bone and then spreads around the shoulder and down past my arm and to my wrist onsome really bad occasions. I have not damaged it or had an accident so that is ruled out. Only 21 and so I do not think it is frozen shoulder.

what is it?

On and off shoulder pain?

I've been getting this shoulder pain, on and off for about 3 months. A job at work where we flip glass to make a window seems to be the cause of it, even though I'm not 100% sure, the pain seems to start after I perform this job (I don't do it very often). Even if I just flip glass for 5 minutes, my shoulder hurts for days after. Any ideas what it might be and should I see the doctor?

Shoulder pain and lung cancer?

Hi, I am a 21 year old female with a history of about 5 yrs of smoking a pack of cigarettes a day (I quit two years ago). Recently I've lost quite a few loved ones to lung cancer all of a sudden. This has made me somewhat paranoid that I myself may have cancer. I have had presistant pain in my right shoulder/shoulder blade area for the past two months or so. It is not necessarily a sharp or strong pain, it feels like a muscle strain after going to the gym...but it has been consistantly noticeable off and on for about two months. I read somewhere that this is a sign of lung cancer, and now I am worried. I had a CHEST x-ray (full front and side view) late Janurary for an unrelated situation and nothing abnormal was found. Is this a major cause of concern, or am I just being paranoid because of recent losses? I am in prime, perfect health otherwise....If you or a loved one has had experience with shoulder pain related to lung cancer, was the pain an excrutiating type of pain?

p.s. I also have a 10 month old who weighs about 24 lbs., which my husband thinks is the cause of the pain- but if that was the case wouldn't both of my shoulders hurt? i am right handed and yes i often use my right hand to move my baby around

One month ago, my shoulder dislocates but pain remains the same as before. What do I do?

Assuming the dislocation was correctly reduced (made better), you are almost certainly feeling the effects of the torn muscles and tendons and ligaments that a dislocation normally produces. Try heat packs or ice packs and take something like ibuprofen. If it remains painful then see your doctor.

Can gas cause shoulder pain?

So abdominal bloating and abdominal ( intestinal ) distension can happen together and two of the causes can be “ Gall Bladder inflammation aka Cholecystitis ( Acute or Chronic ) and Acid reflux.Inflamed gall bladder can cause abdominal distension/bloating and can IRRITATE OVERLYING DIAPHRAGM. Diaphragm is the wall which separate lungs from abdomen in simple words. Now Phrenic Nerve is the nerve which supplies both diaphragm and Shoulder. Phrenic nerve is a nerve that originates in the neck (C3-C5) and passes down between the lung and heart to reach the diaphragm.Pain arising from structures supplied by the phrenic nerve is often "referred" to other somatic regions served by spinal nerves C3-C5. For example, a subphrenic abscess, acute cholecystitis beneath the right diaphragm ( in the abdomen ) might cause a patient to feel pain in the right shoulder.Abdominal Bloating can result from Gall bladder stones or inflammation of gall bladder. Pain in left arm for 3 months?

These might be the possible causes:

You might be feeling some numbness as well, this might be caused by "extreme" or "prolonged" activities that make use of certain parts of your body. Say, a pianist who plays piano for 16 hours a day is very prone to have the carpal-tunnel syndrome (Which worsening can be prevented by total rest)

There are several things you should do:
1. Everyday you can put warm towel on the affected area, do it for like a week and see if there's an improvement.

2. You can visit a physical therapist who can give you a correct massage or therapy since they'd have to "re-align" some of the parts that may have been overused. (realign is not a medical term, but you see, over-working any area of your body can lead to "growth" just like muscles, and the skin.)

3. Don't sleep on the affected side.

4. Do some stretching exercises everyday, word of caution: WHEN THERE'S PAIN, THERE'S SOMETHING WRONG. Stretching should feel good and it should relieve some discomforts.

5. If like another month pass, then have it X-ray'd or if you have the budget, some athletes would go to MRI.
