Since Aol Changed Its System I Have Received No Emails Or Spam For 2 Weeks-an Impossibility.what Do

What do I do if I am getting spam emails from myself? How do I make them stop?

This is called spoofing. Someone basically impersonates your email address from a remote server using “smtp severs”, SMTP stands for “send mail transfer protocol”, which basically is the protocol that allows any email to be send in behalf of any domain names.Because anyone can build a tool that makes this possible, it's your email providers responsibility to build a filter that fights spoofing. The most common ways to fight fake emails coming from your own domain name are SPF records, DKIM signatures and Dmarc policy. I will explain them in simple terms.SPF record stands for sender policy framework, this record is added in your Domain Name System (DNS) and it states who you have granted permission to send emails in behalf of your domain. For instance if your email provider is Google, you add a txt record that they will provide to you, same with office365, and any other email provider. In simple terms let's imagine that you always get letters from the same person, and the sender has appointed an specific mail man to be the one delivering the email, upon receiving the letter, you will check if the mailman is the one, anything that is not being delivered by him is a fake letter. Then you as a recepient decide what to do is the mailman fails to be the one. (Mark as spam, reject etc).DKIM record stands for Domain Key identified mail. It's basically another record you add into your DNS and also configure in your email provider server. This is a digital signature that will be added to your message headers and it needs to match exactly with the record in your DNS at the moment the message is being filtered. In simple terms let's use the mailman example once again, following the pervious rules because SPF is a must before implementing DKIM, this time the sender signature needs to be in every letter you send out and the recepient will verify that it matches exactly.Note: These two should suffice and prevent spoofing.Dmarc policy it works with Dmarc compliance systems. Some in house servers that are not so up to date don't comply with it. Basically it's a policy that dictates that emails that are generated that failed SPF and DKIM check should be either quarantine (normally it means marked as spam) or rejected. Yahoo, AOL and some other email providers have a Dmarc policy that rejects emails that are not generated in their servers.I have briefly touch what this records do, there is a lot more to learn about each of them. I hope it helps.

Has Yahoo recently changed their violation system?

This is from the Sept. 26 yahoo answers blog. There is a calendar picture on the left, and arrows to the right or left to change months. It is an automated system, that's right, a computer program handles the violations, not a person.

Quote:

"It has been over a week since we released the new beta of community moderation. The early results are very, very promising. You, the Answers community, are removing the most abusive questions and answers within minutes! And the average time to remove abuse is getting faster and faster each day. Accuracy rates are equally impressive and also improving daily. We manually review each report and have found that abuses removed through the new system have a better than 98% accuracy rate. We’ve kept the system in a conservative mode for now (to see how it performs) by focusing on the most abusive or blatant violations and it is working. You are doing great!

"Of course, there are many improvements to be made. We are progressively tuning the system to make things better, reviewing thousands of abuse reports to determine if our algorithms are effective at identifying the most trusted reporters. Some of you have asked about the exact way we measure a trusted reporter, but we can’t release this information. It would be like Yahoo! Mail telling people how they determine spam email from good email. If you report well and participate responsibly in the community, you become trusted and have more impact in the community.

"We will be updating you regularly on the progress of community moderation, especially as we expand the system based on the early success.

"Congrats and thanks to all of you who are taking an active role to keep Answers healthy and growing!

"The Yahoo! Answers Team

"P.S. We also want to encourage you to report more spam."

Also check Sept. 7 and Sept 17. Back then it was on its most lenient setting. It has probably recently been cranked to a higher setting.

My email was hacked. I can t receive any emails. I have cleared all of the filters, forwarding addresses, and reply-to addresses.?

Had the same problem...when I finally checked filters it seemed like that wasn't it, until I looked closer and there was a filter, it was just a series of "...................." which is why I overlooked it the first 10 times. The filter was sending all my mail to the trash. I have never enabled a filter, and no one else ever touches my computer.

Try this and see if it solves your problems too:
Go to Settings Menu Icon
Select Settings
Select Filters
If anything appears in the box such as "............", select it and press DELETE
*****SAVE your changes.*****

I had to go to the trash select all my messages and move them to the inbox.

I am now back on track. Hope this helps some of you!

My emails disappear, then reappear in my inbox- with changes to my message?

I wrote an email to myself on aol, because I just made a new account and wanted to see if it was different or something than yahoo....

well, the message arrived in my inbox, and I clicked on it. Then, I went back to my inbox and the message was gone. A few seconds later, it reappeared in my inbox, but when I clicked on it, it had this
symbol "=0" after some of the lines, and some lines were highlighted in a different color.
Does this normally happen? What's up with this?

Email has been working fine, now receiving this error (#MBR1212) Incorrect username or password?

Hi, Try Updating the Internet Browser you are using at the moment or using a different Internet Browser.

Or Contact Yahoo by Email, this can be done by clicking on HELP at the Bottom Right Hand side of the Yahoo Home Page under Horoscopes.

Click on whatever Subject is best for you for more information, you can also Click on the Arrows for more options, or Type your Problem in the Search Help box.

You can also Go to the Right hand side of page and click on Contact Customer Care.

Click on Category, page will reload for you to click on Sub Category.
Make sure you fill in Brief Details of what has Happened, click Enter.

Depending on the Category you select and the Sub Category you also select you should then see at the Bottom of the Page for more help Click on EMAIL A SUPPORT AGENT. You may have to click on different ones and try variations.

There will then be a Form to fill in. Fill in the form with as much information as you can remember about your security details and your account.

Yahoo will then contact you at a Different Email Address that you need to give them. This email address CANNOT be a yahoo email one.

You need to give them a different Email Address, it could be one that you already have or you will need to create a new one, Google, Hotmail, etc. You do this by clicking on Email and then click on Register and follow the instructions.

They only need this Different Email Address to give you instructions regarding your yahoo account.

When Yahoo send you an email, make sure you check the Trash and Spam folders as well as the Inbox in case it went in there instead.

You will be asked to create a New Password, Best a hard to Guess One for anyone trying to access your Yahoo Account.

I Would Also Strongly advise that you register an alternative email address and your Mobile Number/Cell Phone Number with Yahoo, that is done through Account Settings. (I Think).

That way if your account is ever hacked or similar, a message should come up and they can send a code to your phone or other email address for you to then unlock your Yahoo Email Account.

Good Luck
Claire

Why is AOL now blocking emails sent from Yahoo accounts?

Hi,
Thousands are having all kinds of problems with their mail since the new format, with Server Farm issues with Original Mail AND Beta Mail, several months ago!
Yahoo! and Sun Java are also having conflicts. Rather than trying to work around them, here is the easy and fastest way to cure them (for most). Go to Tools, open Internet Options, and select Advance tab. Scroll down the list and see if you have Microsoft Virtual Machine listed, if so, uncheck the 2 java’s listed. Make sure JIT is checked, click apply then ok. and then Close. This lets MSN virtual machine launch Yahoo! mail.
If not: http://us.m.yahoo.com/
Also: you will have less problems with Mail if you sign in via Messenger! Go to preferences, general, then check box: Automatically sign me in when I click a Yahoo! link in Messenger. Then click on the little envelope icon on top of messenger box. Or go to My Yahoo and click on your mail link. Or click on the Big RED Y! on the Yahoo! Toolbar. Bottom line is any link that already has you signed in!!!
I recommend that you use Original Mail until beta works out the bugs. FYI, beta means TESTING. Go back to IE6 which works just fine and is problem free. It is still installed on your pc. If you are using Yahoo Mail Plus, and your server farm has problems, switch to the free service until things are worked out.
NOTE: Use beta software at your own risk; it is intended for testing and evaluation purposes only. Do not install beta software on your primary computer or production environment.

I hope this helps you.

Is Yandex email a safe alternative for American users?

Yandex Mail is far better than Gmail:1. Less privacy issues. Russian IT territory is not open place for NSA.2. Faster than Gmail.3. Better attachements management in terms of uploading/viewing/editing.4. Modern interface comparing to Gmail. 5. No annoying ads. No reading your emails to offer you ads by email content.6. Fully operational, Android app + iOS app.7. Better contacts management.8. Unlimited storage.9. RSS included (I don't know why Google aborted RSS.)10. NO EXPIRATION PERIOD !!!11. EXPIRED/DELETED ACCOUNTS ARE NOT RE-USABLE AFTER A WHILE LIKE YAHOO OR OUTLOOK !!! This is a very serious privacy issue considering people that could die or become available by accidents. 12. Better aliases management. (Even better than Outlook.com which the best.)Yandex Mail is like Gmail + good features from Yahoo Mail + good features from Outlook.com. I have a Gmail account but I am more satisfied by Yandex Mail after using 2 weeks.  Definitely I will use Yandex Mail as my favourite email.
