Somebody Withdrew Money From My Account Anyone Experienced This

Can someone withdraw money from my bank account if they have my account number, branch number and institution number?

Do not listen to anybody who tells you that it isn’t possible to drain your account knowing only your bank account number and bank name / routing number. With those two pieces of data, I can make checks to cash that, when cleared, will drain your account. And those checks *will* clear, by the way.I can have fake checks printed and use them at the grocery store. I might be asked for ID, but in California you can get extremely high quality fake ID for under $50.Another way to drain your account is by doing an ACH transfer. I obtain a bank account and register for their online banking platform. I plug in your numbers as an external transfer account. Many banks will perform trial deposits into your account that I would have to verify, but not all banks do that. Some businesses allow you to pay your bill or purchase goods or services by plugging in your account details in their online platform. For example, I pay my wife’s cellular phone service for her sometimes online using my bank account details. I could do the same with yours. If I get an actual check of yours, then I have your name, address and, possibly, your phone number. That makes it even more fun.

Can anyone withdraw money from my account if they know my account number?

Is it illegal to withdraw cash from somebody else's bank account if that person gave you permission?

If they gave you permission, why would they be pressing charges? That makes no sense.

It is illegal for you to take money out of someone else's account. If they want to give you money, let them write you a check.

If someone knows my bank account number, is my money still secure?

~~No. An account number has much more security than that. The only thing they can do without question is deposit money. Otherwise it has protection against withdrawals.~~

Using a fake ID to withdraw money from someone else's account?

Someone deposited a lot of money in my bank account?

Ok so I go online and check today... I have Checking and Savings mind you. I noticed in my savings account, there was like over $3000 in there and I was WTF!!! I know its not the IRS depositing my returns because this deposit reads "CUSTOMER DEPOSIT"! Hmmm.... I'm really not sure what to do. If I call the bank and ask them, even if they dont know where it came from, will they let me keep it anyway or take it back regardless?

Oh and I gave my account information to nobody. My guess is that maybe someone who banks at the same bank as me was probably a digit off when making a deposit and it went into my account. But that would make no sense because at my bank or most banks rather the teller asks you to swipe your card first in order to bring up your account on the computer before making the deposit right?

Scam where someone put money into my bank account?

I work at a body shop and we got a call from a telephone line where deaf people can call and type to the operator and the operator will tell us what they're saying. We have had a deaf customer before and thats how we went about it, so that wasn't anything weird to us. Then they ask for our cell phone number so we could text and it would be easier, which wasn't weird to us either because thats how we communicated with our previous deaf customer. They asked if they could send us money through our debit machine, an amount of $3500. They said their car was in another state and they needed us to send the money to the towing company. My boss thought maybe our previous deaf customer had referred this man so he would trust us doing so with his money.
Then once we start getting more details he says send the money via the western union. I automatically knew this was a scam. So we ask for the towing company address and telephone number, a fax of the towing bill, and pictures of the damaged vehicle. They went to google and sent me a picture. So we didn't reply to them.
Which left us with 3,500 dollars that these people put into our bank account.
What does this mean? where will the money go? how should we report it??
