Something That Gets White Dots Off My Black Jeans

If you bleach something black, will it turn white?

That sounds like a cool and creative idea! Bleach can turn garments into some pretty weird colors. For example, I had a light blue shirt that got some bleach on it and the spot turned pink. I would imagine that if you bleached your black jeans, then they may turn gray or even brown.

An easier way of doing this is to just obtain some white or light-colored jeans to tye-dye, as this would save you a lot of time.

How do I get white residue off of my black clothing?

I would use some white vinegar and water to use on the black clothing. Put them back into the washing machine and run through a rinse with 2 cups white vinegar and lowest washing cycle on the last rinse. Never wash any black clothing with any other clothing or items. I agree the wash for black clothing is better to use for any of your black clothing like wool lite for black only clothes. Never dry anything either with other clothing items. The vinegar will help remove the white residue off your black clothing. If it doesn't work then I would re- wash with the black clothing only wool lite soap.

White marks of jeans after washing?

White residue on my black jeans. What's that?

When you say "bottom" are you talking about the "seat" of the jeans? Can you scrape off the residue? Or does it seem to be a part of the fabric? Is the fabric just wearing out? If it's on the knees and the seat only, are you sitting or kneeling on something that has transferred to the fabric?

Sometimes when I do a load of dark clothes, some items have a collection of white lint on them, but it is in random areas and is on the items that are on the side of the tub during the spin cycle. It comes from not regularly cleaning the lint trap I think. I remove it by rubbing the fabric together, or, if it's real noticeable, I get a small damp rag and rub off the lint. It always comes off, but it's a drag!

You said you're rinsing several times, but for the general record, it's not good to use more soap in the washer than recommended. It won't rinse out completely and your clothes actually don't come very clean.

How do you iron black pants so they don't have shiny marks?

You use something called a press cloth, which a fancy way of saying you place a piece of fabric between the garment and the iron. The cloth needs to be made from a natural fiber (synthetic fibers like nylon will melt onto your iron) and have a flat weave (like cotton shirting, not cotton twill) to avoid embossing the weave pattern onto your clothing. You can buy pre made press cloths online, but any reasonably sized scrap of the appropriate fabic will work. Some good fabrics to use as press cloths:Wool - preferably a good quality worsted wool, it holds a lot of steam and is very good at preventing shine.Cotton - shirting, muslin, or even duck cloth, also takes a very high temperature, transfers steam well, and distributes heat evenly.Silk - organza, I know it seems weird to use delicate looking, sheer silk for ironing, but it really is great. It withstands very high temperatures, prevents shine, and best of all you can see what you’re doing since it’s sheer. Hands down my favorite choice, and the one I use 99% of the time.

What has caused white marks on new black jeans?

White streaks on black jeans can result from the use of too much laundry detergent, undissolved detergent or hard water mineral deposits. Additionally, the fade-resistance of the dye used to color the jeans can affect whether the jeans eventually start to streak, as some dyes fade more than others. Getting the white streaks out of your black jeans requires that you determine the source of the streaks and then treat/repair the jeans as needed.Step 1Check the creases of your jeans for powder, or scratch one of the white streaks on your black jeans with a fingernail.Step 2Rinse your jeans if you found obvious signs of laundry powder or mineral deposits or if you were able to scratch away some of a streak with your nail. After you rinse your jeans, turn them inside out and dry on low heat, or line-dry, to prevent fading.Step 3Dye the jeans if you suspect that the streaks came from fading. The exact method to dye depends entirely on the jeans-approved black dye product that you purchase. Typically, this involves soaking the jeans in a sink or bucket filled with a solution of water and dye.Step 4Hire a water specialist to add water softeners or add 1/2 tsp. of salt to wash water before washing your jeans to help dissolve hard water deposits.Step 5Turn the jeans inside out before washing to prevent the dark exterior of your jeans from rubbing and wearing when swishing around in the washer.

How to get flour out of my black jeans?!?!?

Don't use a paper towel, then you'll have to deal with trying to get the paper lint off the black jeans. Just use a damp towel, and blot, don't rub. Alternatively, you can use one of those sticky rollers that remove pet hair from furniture; just keep pulling off the sheets of sticky paper as they lose their stickiness. Or, you can wrap tape around one hand "backwards," so that the sticky side is out, and pat at the flour; you'll have to use new tape 'til the flour's all gone.
