Stabbing Pain Near Ac Joint

Stabbing pain in my wrist?

Carpal tunnel is the most likely culprit, but you say you have ruled it out.

Hmm

No trauma. Okay, the two other things that come to mind are Intersection syndrome and de Quervain's Synovitis. Gimme a sec, I'll get you a link.

For de Quervains:

http://www.emedicine.com/emerg/topic571....

It's a bit wordy for the layman, but is 100% latest word on the topic. I noted when reading the article a reference to volar flexor tenosynovitis, which also could cause this.

For intersection syndrome:

Note the drawing in the middle of the page here, if the pain location matches your own, we have a winner.

In the meantime, try some conservative measures. Take aspirin or Motrin, reduce activitie that cause the pain, maybe get a wrist brace. If this fails, see a doctor.

EDIT: ps, it could still be Carpal Tunnel, but even so, the course of action I recommend is a good conservative approach as well. Good luck

Severe stomach pain!??? help please!!!!!?

Treatment plans for abdominal pain are individualized depending on the underlying cause, the presence of coexisting diseases, the age and medical history of the patient, and other factors. Treatment generally involves a multifaceted plan that addresses the cause, minimizes the discomfort of abdominal pain and decreases the risk of developing serious complications of underlying causes, such as anemia, shock, sepsis and dehydration.

When abdominal pain is caused by a self-limiting condition, such as a viral gastroenteritis or indigestion, the treatment includes resting the stomach by not eating solid foods until abdominal pain has passed for a period of time and ensuring adequate hydration. This can be achieved by drinking water or an oral rehydrating fluid, such as Pedialyte.

In some cases, medications are used to treat abdominal pain. Antibiotics may be prescribed when abdominal pain is caused by a bacterial infection, such as in bacterial food poisoning due to shigella, salmonella or campylobacter or some sexually transmitted diseases. Surgery may also be needed to treat some causes of abdominal pain, such as ectopic pregnancy.

Treatment of abdominal pain that is caused by serious or life-threatening conditions, such as intestinal obstruction and appendicitis includes hospitalization, medications, intravenous fluids and medications, and surgery.

Pain in AC joint and Bicep tendon whenever I do anything strenuous. 21 yr old male?

Hey, i'm a 21 year old male. I've had shoulder pain for close to 8 years now due to playing baseball since a young age. The current pain i'm going through is a bit different now. I'm in great shape, around 10% body fat 5'7 165 pounds, I lift weights regularly and I do brazilian jiu-jitsu and boxing. For the past 6 months or so, every time I do anything strenuous with my shoulder I get bad pain in my ac joint and bicep tendon. If I completely rest it, it will go away in about 2 weeks. I do not know how I did it, but as you can see I am very active and participate in a lot of contact style combat sports along with heavy lifting at the gym and at my job. Currently, the AC joint is tender to the touch on a scale of 1-10, it goes up to a 10 if I press hard enough. My bicep tendon has been extremely tender for this past week. I cannot sleep with any pressure on my shoulder at all.

Clavicle (collar bone) Pain?

See your health care provider as soon as possible (orthopedic surgeon), for consultation. Shoulder pain may be localized or may be referred to areas around the shoulder or down the arm. Disease within the body (such as gallbladder, liver, or heart disease, or disease of the cervical spine of the neck) also may generate pain that the brain may interpret as arising from the shoulder. Conversely, pain felt in the region of the shoulder blade or scapula nearly always has its origin in the neck.

The collarbone (clavicle) is a frequently fractured bone; fortunately, it has remarkable healing powers. An inability to raise the arm on the affected side is common; the shoulders may also appear uneven. Bandaging the arm to the chest is the only treatment required.

A shoulder separation occurs when the collarbone (clavicle) meets the shoulder blade (scapula). When ligaments that hold the AC (acromioclavicular) joint together are partially or completely torn, the outer end of the clavicle may slip out of place, preventing it from properly meeting the scapula. Most often the injury is caused by a blow to the shoulder or by falling on an outstretched hand. After injury it is hard to do a 180 degrees rotation.

Treatment

Rest
Ice and Heat Application
Stretching
Physical Therapy
Anti-Inflammatory Medication
Cortisone Injections

See a doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment.

I hope this helps you. And good luck.

Shoulder Problem, bone sticking up on left shoulder (no pain)?

A little over a year ago my left shoulder started to hurt and had limited mobility for a few days for seemingly no reason. The shoulder had a bone sticking up at the top which was never aligned like that before. The pain only lasted a week, but it was still not structured correctly.I had X-rays and even an Ultrasound done to see what was wrong with it, but they said everything was fine.

Fast Forward to now, still no pain and still a left shoulder with a bone sticking out more than it should. Mobility is perfectly fine and no pain. I could post pics of it but it doesn't look like much, but if you felt it, you would notice it right away.

What should I do to possibly fix this? What would this be considered?

Intermittent chest pain under collarbone... Very frustrated. Please help!?

It could be poor posture or stress. A more serious cause might be angina (chronic chest pain of cardiovascular origin). A still more serious cause could be a heart attack, or the beginnings of a heart attack.

If the pain gets worse or persists, see your doctor. If the symptoms become suddenly much worse (crushing, squeezing pain in the chest, pain radiating to the jaw or arms, nausea, sweating, anxiety), you'll need to visit the ER or call for paramedics to check for heart attack.

There are many benign causes of chest pain, but unfortunately there are a few very serious causes as well. It can be hard to decide whether to rush to the ER for something that might be harmless, or put up with symptoms at home while risking something like a heart attack. If you're worried about it, that's a good enough reason to get it checked. If you're not worried but it's bad or getting worse, that's also a good reason to get it checked.

The older you are, the more careful you should be about getting it checked.

Pain in my shoulder/collarbone...?

i

it sounds like you've got an issue remarkably similar to me in one of my shoulders. I'm a computer programmer so no matter how hard I try to sit up straight, adjust my chair, computer screen etc etc etc my shoulders are sore by the end of the day - so I can move my arm backward and forwards but if I try reaching out to the sides or lift my arm above shoulder level like when I take my shirt of over my head or even reaching my hand up to brush hair away from my face, then I get the pain and its right in the pointy bit of the shoulder where the collarbone joins.

I went to a physio who told me my AC joint was stuffed and I'd have to have xrays and cortisone injections. Well I've had cortisone injections before and all they do is just take the pain away they don't treat the cause of the problem - not very helpful at all, so I was a bit pissed off with that.

so now I'm working with my personal trainer doing very light rotator cuff exercises and very specific isolation exercises for trapezius, rear, medial and anterior deltoid muscles and the lats - the idea is that we strengthen up the whole shoulder and back so the shoulder joint is correctly positioned - I'd much rather try a natural approach and fix the cause, because then its fixed for life, rather than spend lots of money on pointless treatments that just treat the symptoms.

its working well.

hope this helps
