State Of Fear By Michael Crichton

Will Michael Crichton's "State of Fear." Be adapted into a Movie Anytime Soon?

The only way it could be adapted is if they softened or eliminated the anti-global rhetoric, which is possible but unlikely to happen. That said, if they were able to pull that off, this would have the potential of being a really fun movie. I really would love to see the lightning car chase scene in a movie.

What is the Best Michael Crichton Book?

I've already read Jurassic Park, Lost World, and Pirate Latitudes. I have to find another book to read for school and I thought i would read a Michael Crichton book. Which one is his best?

Did Michael Crichton's "State of Fear"  have an impact on the Climate Change  discourse in anyway?

I think for many it was a first introduction to the other aside of an argument which seemed implausible. Climate change activists were making statements left, right and centre, some true while some were exaggerated. Before I read it about a decade ago, as a teenager, I was completely taken in by the wave of global warming pop culture which was becoming prevalent. Reading it made me question the veracity of some claims to a greater extent and made me understand the problem with a questioning mind.I think it definitely is important to have genuine facts on this issue because otherwise a great disservice is done to generating awareness of a serious problem. Hence, in its paradoxical way, the book made me delve in to the issue with a more rational mind rather than taking claims by environmentalists at face value.

What Michael Crichton novel should I read?

A better question would be “What Michael Crichton novel I shouldn't read”.I have read most of his fiction novels, my favourite being Sphere, and never been disappointed. He puts the science in fiction. Agreed, he faced humongous backlash for his novel “A State of Fear” for its anti-climate change tones, still it was a really interesting read. When you pick up a Michael Crichton book, you usually have to keep your patience for the first 1/3rd of the book. He takes time to build the setting of the story, and the characters. But once they threshold is crossed, you would be unable to put the book down before you complete it. A book that epitomizes this is The Great Train Robbery. It took me over 10 months to complete the book. First 100 or so pages, around 99% of the time, and the rest within a day and half. I completed three other novels after I started this one, and before completing it.If you haven't read any other works of Crichton, I would suggest you start with The Andromeda Strain, which takes you on a roller coaster ride from the first page itself, so that the next time you pick up one of his books, you are assured that it is going to be one hell of a read once you cross the 1/3rd barrier.
