Suzhou City Guided Tour

Is it best to travel to China for two weeks independently or with a tour if I have a mid-level budget?

It’s really up to you and the type of travel you prefer. If you’re a seasoned overseas traveller and you don’t mind going on more of an adventure and exploring the city and discovering new places than go for it by yourself! However, if it’s your first time going to China, it can be a bit overwhelming especially if you don’t understand the language. I wouldn’t be too worried about safety in China if you do your research on the most common scams, but you might waste time finding the attractions your looking for and transportation. Also, if you want to explore outside the major cities I would for sure recommend getting a tour, because not only is getting to those cities quite difficult for foreigners, but even less people who can speak english will be there and your more likely to get scammed on transportation and attraction tickets. Also, tours get special rates for hotels and tickets so usually the price is pretty reasonable and you save time and a lot of effort.Or you can just do a mixtureYou can consider taking day tours in the cities (like this one See The Best Of Shanghai In 1 Day w/Private Tour Guide ) or from the city you land in to other cities nearby (Shanghai to Hangzhou: Tour of Hangzhou: Explore the "City of Heaven" , or Shanghai to Zhuanzhang: 1 Day Suzhou and Zhouzhuang Tour from Shanghai - Sublime China) that pick you get from your hotel or the city center and guide you to and around another city, they’re reletively cheap too! around 100–200. And if you don’t want to do any planning you could just have all 2 weeks planned for you, like this 13 day 5 city tour that includes all the transportation and accommodations in between Top 5 City Tour of China: Beijing, Xian, Guilin, Shanghai & more! Most sites also let you can customize your own tour and they’re usually pretty reasonably, theres no harm in asking how much your ideal trip will cost.

What are some of the most beautiful cities in China?

As some people already mentioned, there are many beautiful cities in China, all offering something different to their visitors. Some people come to see the bustling cities such as Shanghai or Beijing, while others prefer to explore the smaller towns where you can still feel the traditional, ancient China. My personal favourite and a city I would wholeheartedly recommend is Yangshuo in the Guangxi province. Many students that come to our Omeida Chinese Academy fall in love with the beautiful scenery and decide to stay even longer than they previously intended or they keep coming back. And why is is such a beautiful city? Well, the town itself is rather small and has a fairy-tale like atmosphere. Its surrounded by these stunning karst mountains and a winding river Li. The views are simply magical. There are many activities that the visitors can docruising on the river Li or river Yulongbamboo raftingvisiting the many caves in the area (e.g. Silver Cave or Treasure Cave)visiting a local tea shop and tasting the many special teasvisiting the tea plantations itself (such as the Seven Stars Plantation)taking a cooking class to learn some secrets from the Chinese cuisinetaking a Mandarin class to learn even more about the culture and traditions of the Chinese peopleclimbing some of the numerous mountains the the region (the area is popular among climbers worldwide)going on the many hikes in the area (e.g. hiking up the Husband Mountain)renting a bicycle/motorbike and just discovering the area on your ownChina is a vast country and cities vary a lot between each regions. Yangshuo is perfect for those who are ready to soak up the atmosphere of rural, traditional China and enjoy the many outdoor activities the place has to offer.
