Swollen Painful Ear When I Woke Up

Is it okay that my helix piercing is red, swollen and painful? I just get my helix piercing a week ago and suddenly its red, swollen and painful. its been two days now that my helix piercing is swollen, red and painful.

Swelling and pain are all normal signs of healing for a new piercing. I’d suggest taking some ibuprofen or tylenol to help with pain and swelling. (Do not take Aspirin as it could thin the blood)If it’s oozing a liquid that’s yellow, or green, or really any colour other than clear and not blood, it could be infected. Are you doing sea salt soaks 2x a day and any time after it comes in contact with unclean liquids? (Such as pool water or ocean water) 1/4 tsp non-iodized sea salt and a cup of warm water to soak the piercing. Letting it sit under hot water in the shower to loosen any crap getting stuck there is even better. You can also buy a poercing cleanser. I suggest H2Ocean, I recently used it on my tongue and it worked WONDERS!Did you possibly hit it on something? It’s a helix piercing, it could be close to hair and get easily tugged. Same with shirts and clothing. Maybe you’ve been sleeping on it. All are big red flags to look out for. Irritations can cause swelling redness and pain.Keep monitoring it closely, and if it starts to get really hot to the touch (mild heat as it is swollen or red from being irritated is normal) or continues to be swollen, red, and warm for prolonged periods of time - if it starts to ooze anything that isn’t blood in moderate amounts or clear liquids (yellowy, puslike, brown, red, large amounts of blood, etc) go see your piercer a/o a doctor; it could be infected.Do NOT take out your piercing if it gets infected. It could close and quickly trap an infection inside. Follow through with those sea salt soaks and go see a professional.

Swollen Eye Ear Infection?

It sounds like you have a middle ear infection (also known as swimmer's ear, although you didn't' have to have taken a swim to get it). We all have fluid in our ears which helps with our equilibrium and balance. Movement and displacement of this fluid is the reason behind motion sickness, or why you may not be comfortable reading while riding in a car. The fluid normally drains into the lymphatic system via the your Eustachian tubes (located behind the ears). In any case, if this fluid becomes infected, usually due to your putting cotton swabs or something getting stuck in there, voila, you get an ear infection!

The muffled sound you are feeling is caused by fluid that has collected behind your ear (because it isn't draining via your Eustachian tube) and is putting pressure on your ear drum - your hearing is reduced because that fluid is directly behind your ear drum and the swelling it causes (from the fluid) prevents your eardrum from reverberating against the two little bones directly behind it which produces sound.

Your ears, nose, and throat are an interconnected system. Thus, your sinuses (located in part behind your eyes) can become inflamed because the fluid is collecting and not being released as it should be. This is likely what is causing the swelling in your eye. You can't do anything about this really.

For temporary and MILD relief, you may be able to find some comfort by reducing the swelling in your ear and eye by taking ibuprofen every 4 waking hours. Do not exceed the recommended daily allotment. Ibuprofen reduces swelling. You NEED an antibiotic to get rid of your ear infection. It may be in the form a pill, or you may need a topical antibiotic in the form of ear drops that you put in 2-3 times a day. It is possible that the doctor will give you both a pill and ear drops to take simultaneously depending on how severe your infection is. You can't do anything about your ear until you get the antibiotic. I'd suggest going to the ER so you can start right away. The sooner you get your prescription, the sooner you can start feeling and hearing better.

See the video below so you can understand what I am talking about above with regard to the fluid behind your ears. Also, there are suggestions on what else you can do to relieve your symptoms. I am always getting ear infections, so the above is just what I've been told by my specialist.

I woke up and my entire side of my face is swollen from my ear to the middle of my lip - it is an abscess?

That is an abssessed tooth. I have had them twice so I should know. The last time it got down into my throat where I could hardly swallow. This is bad. You need to get rid of the infection before the dentist will touch you. The reason you need the infection gone first before a root canal can be done is the numbing medicine will not work if it isn't gone. The infection blocks it from working. Let me tell you it would be hell if you couldn't get numbed up. So get some antibiotics and get it gone. Also can use Colloidal Silver. Works like a chram. Once it is gone see the dentist asap and get the root canal and crown put on. It is not bad at all. It is like having a filling done, but takes a bit longer. If you don't get the infection cleared up it can spread and go to your heart and kill you- no joke. This is nothing to fool around with.

I woke up this morning and my right ear lobe is swollen and purple but I didn't hurt it in anyway?

Thank you all for all of the advice. I haven't seen any improvement it's still purple and swollen . I had a friend look to see if there was a bite but nothing. I do take my earrings out every night before bed. It kind of looks like I have a hicky or how ever you spell it. However I would know if that's what it was. I guess I will have to give it a day or two and go to the docters if it doesn't improve. Thank you again...Kristianne24

One ear is swollen after sizing up my gauges?

I just sized up from a 14g to a 12g the other night and yesterday they were fine but when i woke up this morning my right earlobe was swollen. It didnt hurt, but its swollen and its a little hard but not rock hard. I just took my gauges out and cleaned both my ears and the gauges with antibacterial soap that was recommended by an actual piercer. There was a little bit of puss but not a ton and there wasnt really any blood at all. I soaked my ears twice today with a salt and warm water soak. Should I size back down and wait and continue to clean them? I read some of the other yahoo questions where people skipped like ten sizes and there was puss and blood and whatever, but my case really isnt that serious. Just a little bit of swelling, no pain, my lobe isnt rock hard and there was just a little puss
Is my ear just irritated? I just thought I'd ask just to be sure! thank you!

Swollen, hard lump in Tragus- ear?

I woke up this morning with a lump in the front ear. The pain has gotten much more severe over the past 24 hours. It hurts to open my jaw, and I can't sleep because of the sharp, throbbing pain my ear is feeling. My mom thinks it's a swollen lymph node. Should I be concerned? What could possibly be wrong with me?

Ear Cartilage Piercing is swollen?

If you've had it pierced with a gun then it's gonna be pretty angry, gun studs are very blunt compared to cannula needles and guns also carry the risk of shattering cartilage.

Infection in piercings will usually consist of the following symptoms: leaking a darker yellowish-green pus that may smell, the piercing will be hot to the touch and swollen.

It might be worth taking the piercing out, letting it heal and getting it done properly at a studio.

Sore throat/ear pain/swollen lymph node?

Four days ago I woke up with a cold (sore throat, headache, etc) then as I was starting to feel better, my throat on the right side got worse. When I swallow it's like a sharp pain and earlier when I got a glass of water, I could only take a sip because of how cold it was and I had that sharp pain again. I can also barely eat, yawn, cough etc
But now my ear is also hurting deep in there and I noticed I have a swollen lymph node. If I touch it, I can feel it back in that corner of my ear/throat. Also when I bend down or put my head low, it feels like a lot of pressure by that lymph

Is this still part of my cold or something worse? I'm going to try and go to the doctor tomorrow but I'm trying to figure this out before
Thanks !
