Swollen Tonsils For 2 Days

I have 1 swollen tonsil?

Well this all began maybe about 3 weeks ago, one night I was screaming and yelling a lot with my buds (all influenced by some alcohol) and such. The next day I got a sore throat, it was so horrible. Hurt to swallow, but it didn't hurt to drink or eat food. Then about a day or two after that I got a mild cold. Running nose, congestion, the usual. After the cold went away the sore throat persisted. I had gotten some NU-DOXYCYCLINE which almost instantly took down the pain in my throat.

Now I looked in my throat and I saw white spots on my tonsils, I suspected "tonsil stones" which they did go away on medication. I was to take 2 a day, until the medication was gone. At the end I kind a missed the last 6 tablets, and I was taking them every 2 days or so. Now I notice the white spots coming back. And now just recently noticed only 1 swollen tonsil (the left one) Now no pain is associated with my swollen tonsil. Except maybe when I swallow (It was hurting a little yesterday, today it's much better still feels like something is lodged in there)

Now I want to know if this is serious because I was reading on so much **** that got me worried. All I have is a throat that has red veins at the back, with 1 swollen tonsil. I wouldn't even call this is a sore throat.... this **** has been lasting for so long I don't know what it is anymore, first I thought it was strep throat, then tonsil stones and such.... and yes I do plan on visiting the doctor but I want to see if it'll go away on its own, or maybe with some home remedies.

Swollen tonsils with no pain?

Food poisoning AND a sinus infection is a hard hit for your body. Your lymph nodes and tonsils swell when they are fighting infection. Though your food poisoning is over and done with, it seems you still have a bit of your sinus infection left. It went away, but the fact that you have yellow/greenish snot is a sign that it still is on it's way out.
Your tonsils getting big is just a way of showing you, and your body, that it is trying its hardest to fight everything off.
Once your mucus becomes clear, your tonsils should start to unswell.

Swollen tonsils for 2 days?

Why have you had more than a gallon of water?? Is this in one day?? You don't need this much. Cut it back to 64 ounces. You may have diluted your blood too much along with your electrolytes and this would explain your current symptoms. No swallowing ice, no gallon of water, understand? You're not just hydrated, you're overhydrated.

"What is something else I can do to get rid of the swelling?" -- Tonsillitis is viral is most cases and it resolves on its own. If you want to see your doctor, be my guest, but I'll tell you again, most cases of tonsillitis are viral.

Give Chloraseptic anesthetic throat medication a try. It comes in a spray, in lozenges and in dissolving strips. Continue with hot salt water gargles as often as you like. Sipping icy drinks may help numb pain or hot drinks may soothe. You've already been practicing this principle with the tea and ice but Chloraseptic anesthetic throat spray may eliminate the excessive fluid intake. Viral tonsillitis shouldn't last more than a matter of days.

What should I do when I have one of my tonsils swollen? Few days back, I had sore throat and fever when my doctor said that the right side of my tonsil is swollen, and it should be removed by tonsillectomy. What are the natural ways to avoid it?

Normally, the doctor would prefer to treat the tonsilitis with antibiotics. Ask your doctor if this is an option (it could be viral). If the doctor tells you that antibiotics aren’t an option, or you consider antibiotics “unnatural”, then your only nonsurgical hope is prayer. You’ll need a lot of blessing, because tonsilitis can develop into rheumatic fever and nerve damage if untreated, because tonsilitis is frequently caused by a strep infection.Tonsilitis can also develop into a pus filled abcess, and if the diseased fluid gets into your blood, you could develop septicemia (blood poisoning) which in turn leads to multiple organ failure. If you’d like to avoid this kind of fate, listen to your doctor.

Sudden swollen tonsil?

I had a sore scratchy throat a few days ago. It's been completely gone for 2 days. It wasnt bacterial infection. My tonsils looked fine during the illness, just had a scratchy throat. I felt 100% all day today, then all of a sudden, a couple of hours ago, it became painful to swallow. My right ear seems to be "clogged" since the swelling started. I haven't eaten all day, so I don't believe it's a food allergy even tho I have many. I just looked in the mirror and my right tonsil is almost double the size of my left. My throat doesn't hurt otherwise. No patches or super redness. I took Benadryl when I got home from work. It hasn't gotten worse since then.
Could it be allergies of some sort (seasonal)? Should I be concerned and go to the ER?

Go to gym with swollen tonsil ?

Ok so my right tonsil is alittle bit swollen, it only hurts abit in the morning when i try to swallow, during the day i dont feel any pain at all, i dont have fever nor is my nose running. it has been like this for 2 days

im wondering if its alright for me to go to the gym ?, im that kind of person who gets really depressed if i miss my workouts, still i dont want to make it worse.

Swollen tonsils? In a lot of pain?

there's a couple things you can possibly have, but one thing for sure is that you have tonsilitis, it happens to everybody in their life time, that's inflammation of the tonsils, basically your body is fighting off an infection or virus, it's important that you DON'T get your tonsils taken out, your tonsils are soldiers that protect anything entering your body. there are a few illnesses that can cause tonsillitis such as strep throat, or just a flu, if you don't want to go to the doctor then don't, because when i got it i didn't go, and my tonsils stopped swelling in a matter of 2-3 days, but take some strong medicine, such as contac, that should help, make sure you drink lots and lots of water, and get lots of sleep.

Any home remedies for swollen tonsils?

I need good home remedies for swollen tonsils. I've tried 2 tablespoons of honey with a squeeze of lemon and it didn't work. I can't handle the pain anymore and I just want the swelling to lessen. I would really love a good remedy to stop the pain. Please help me!!

I have one swollen/sore tonsil. What is the cause?

well, i can say that it's not from the hookah. i've smoked my hookah for a while now and i've never gotten sick from it. no one is going to get sick like that from smoking.. hookah or cig.

Well, unless you decided not to use a mouthpiece and one of your friends was sick.. and was a jerk for STILL sharing.

And i dont think it'd be from HIV/AIDS. HIV can stay in someone's system for YEARS and they wont even know they have it. but i'm sure when comes out the end result isn't something as miniscule as one swollen tonsil.

But in all seriousness, i think you're just a little sick. go check with a doctor. i'm sure he'll give you some antibiotics and you'll be good to go.

One swollen tonsil, swollen lymph nodes on one side of neck? Should I worry?

I'm only 16. I have hypothyroidism/hashimoto's disease [different diagnoses from different doctors].

In the past few weeks I've gotten what I thought was the flu twice, 3 times over the past 2 months. The last bout of the "flu"[flu is in quotes because I'm not sure what it was] my temperature ONCE AGAIN hit 102. It feels as though I have a recurrent fever of around 102 but it lasts for different durations each time I have it[and is sometimes accompanied by other feelings of illness, sometimes not]. This time it only lasted around 2 days [last time lasted around 4(when NOT on ibuprofen)]. This was my schedule of sickness:
Day one: Two nights before a musical audition-began losing voice [kept practicing]
Day 2: Day before musical audition-scratchy throat
Day 3: Musical audition-once again scratchy throat
Day 4: Dance auditions-at the end felt terrible. Had chills right after. Went home to a 102 fever.
Day 5: Musical callbacks-on ibuprofen, felt terrible, voice scratchy
Day 6: Sick. Sick. Sick. 102 fever
Day 7: Different performance [voice was almost gone, I think my fever was gone by then]
Day 8: Voice gone throat pain-noticed swollen tonsil and lymph nodes
Day 9-13[5 days]-Voice pretty gone, throat KILLING me, still only one swollen tonsil and swollen lymph nodes

I have one REALLY swollen tonsil and the others a bit red but nowhere near the other.
Over the past few weeks [ironic, because it happened when I was NOT sick] I've lost weight. Seeing as I am hypothyroid I usually slowly gain weight, and never lose [even when I try hard to.] I've went from 157/159 to 150/152. It might just be a lot of stress.

Is this any concern? I never went to the doctor when I thought I had the flu previous times. I assumed it was the flu, stayed home, drank fluids, and rested.

It is possible I just completely over used and overworked my voice and my body with all the singing and dancing. But would the symptoms last THIS long? I've now had a sore throat, and swollen tonsil [one], for around 12-13 days. [Not sure when the tonsil became swollen but I assume since my throat began hurting]
