Tekken Tag Tournament Or Ultimate Street Fighter 4

Should I get Street Fighter X Tekken?

I am getting getting it and for a few reasons. First, the game is up to 4 players online as well as offline. Essentially when you play, you can have a live person as your partner or you can control the two characters at a team. This is an optional thing when you play. Keep in mind this also includes online. They are also introducing an online training mode so your friends can teach or practice combos with you. Another feature that will also be in training mode is that you can also have a friend, online of offline, and practice tag combos with him. If i was playing with you in training i could either be against you or your tag partner and practice link combos. The last of my favorite features that I know which is fun for everyone is what they call the "Scramble Mode". Instead of tagging in your partner it will have all 4 players in combat at the same time. I would say that it would almost be like Super smash brothers except with street fighter mechanics. This mode would be really enjoyable if you just wanted to have fun with friends and let loose. In my opinion, it looks like the gameplay is the middle ground between Street Fighter 4 and Marvel vs Capcom 3. I did notice you say you did not like them and i definitely understand because both games can be fun while playing with friends but ridiculous when you play competitively online when you don't want to be really competitive. With that said it would be much more enjoyable when you have a friend to partner up with online. I would try STxT. it seems much more inviting. If you have any doubts about anything i said check the official site they will talk more about how they help with the learning curve which includes input settings for beginners (not related to simple mode of mvc3) as well as few more game modes.

On a final note, the producer said they were not going to do what street fighter and marvel did which was make mutliple versions of the game with more characters and modes. they are actually going to have updates and well as dlc with the game that will add more to it.

Is Capcom's intention to make "Street Fighter x Tekken" as balanced as "Street Fighter IV" or are they just trying to fufill people's desires for "dream matchups?"

No, these cross over games (in which characters from two different worlds collide) will never replace the main stream games. I think the people at capcom and namco saw a brilliant opportunity to pit in Ryu against Jin, Ken against Paul, and so on to make a lot of people's dreams come true. But in terms of gameplay, SF X Tekken is known for having balancing issues, e.g. a few characters like Rolento and Rufus is overpowered, while many others are very much weak against everyone else. But for a game like SF IV, balancing and giving a fare chance to all characters is a big issue. For this reason, we see multiple versions of SF IV. The next one will come out in June 2014 which will have new characters and balancing, and will be the last one until a new SF game comes out. Similarly, Namco brings out Tekken or Tekken Tag Tournament games every other year which are their main games for competitive play. They are also working on Tekken X SF, which I believe will be more of a fun game than an actually balanced, competitive game.

Does Street Fighter X Tekken play like Street Fighter or like Tekken?

It plays like the bastard kid of a Street Fighter Alpha and Tekken Tag.Why Alpha? Everyone gets a chain combo, but these chain combos aren't as flashy as those in a VS game, thus they are more in line with Alpha, even if the execution is more lenient. If you end the chain combo with a Hard attack (it uses the 3 punch and 3 kick button Capcom style), your other character tags in.You only have two characters in your team, and just as in Tekken Tag, you lose the round if any of your characters is knocked out. You can also charge your normal special moves to turn them into super moves such as performing the Hadoken with Ryu but holding the punch button to charge it, thus turning it into a Shinkuu Hadoken. I suppose that mechanic is meant to mimic how Tekken characters tend to have an unblockable charge move, though there are no unblockables in Street Fighter x Tekken. There are the usual Capcom fireball characters, which are lacking in the Tekken roster and you fight on a 2D plane, so there is none of the Tekken sidestepping. This is strictly a 2D affair. There are many other neat mechanics, but I'm sure you're not looking for a full gameplay discourse. The game is actually a lot of fun, but the gem system does a lot of harm to its balance IMO.

Which is the best game: Tekken, Street Fighter, or Mortal Kombat?

As someone who used to play quite a lot of Street Fighter I have to say that after playing Tekken I much prefer it to either Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat. I’m talking about Tekken 7 and Street Fighter V.Tekken is more like real fighting, it is up close. Players are not jumping all over the screen or shooting fireballs from far away. There are some characters who can shoot fireballs but they take ages to charge up and are only useful as a surprise tactic now and then. There are four buttons in Tekken and each button is an attack from each of your four limbs, so it feels like you have complete control over your character. The hits feel more satisfying in Tekken and you can do 6 hit combos easily but it is hard to master. It is more beginner friendly but has just as much depth as Street Fighter.Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat are like Quake and Doom (largely fantasy based and players flying all over the screen) whereas Tekken is more like Call of Duty and Battlefield (somewhat realistic, the action takes place on the ground and is easier to digest)

Why does street fighter have less number of moves  when tekken has 100s of moves?

Tekken characters have a lot of useless moves. You don't really need so many moves. There are so many moves that it is impossible to memorize them all.But a large number of moves doesn't mean the system is deep. Does King really need almost 200 moves? How many different kicks, punches and throws does a character really need? Most people probably only use a fraction of each characters moves.Tekken 7 is the end of the Mishima saga and hopefully that means a total revamp of Tekken is on the horizon.I hope Tekken 8 will be a new beginning with a much more simplified moveset for each character. Less would definitely be more.

Why does “Street Fighter” still use a quarter-circle movement method instead of NetheRealms’ system of down-and-left?

Speaking not from Street Fighter experience, but ArcSys experience here.I believe the biggest thing is how the move feels. If you’re in the center of a combo, chaining say: 2K -> 2P -> c.S. -> 2D -> 214H, would you rather form an uncomfortable line from 2 to 4, or just swing it around, riding the gate to the 4.Personally, I'd prefer riding the gate. It makes the actions seem more visceral, and if I'm in a particularly excited mood, I'll ride the gate with a flourish rather than careful execution. To me it seems like there's one way to do a 24 movement properly, and I can't get it consistently, I get the same way about DP inputs, instead of going 623 like a normal person, I'll go 6323 so it feels smoother.Keep on rockin’.

Is Tekken, Street Fighter, Fatal Fury, Samurai Showdown, and Virtua Fighter series still the gold standard of fighting games, are there any other beat 'em up games that come even close?

They are the classics, well not Virtua Fighter, it’s pretty forgotten. You’ve mentioned classics from Neo-Geo, Capcom, Namco, but you have left one new big player of the last 15 years.Guilty Gear/Blazblue, from Sammy and Arc System Works. If you have not tried this, fix that. They are the most popular and influential fighting game to come up from outside the big boys. Also at the tournament level, you will see two other games regularly, Super Smash Brothers (it may be light compared to the ones you mentioned, but it’s super popular, and that helps the genre,) and Marvel vs. Capcom (it’s remained popular for over 15 years, and is a beloved series to many fans for it’s huge character roster and solid play.)OK, I looked up one of the largest fighting game tournaments, and it mentioned two other game series, Injustice and Dragonball. I wouldn’t say either is as deep as the ones we’ve been talking about, but they are popular enough, so that’s saying something, and I hope they improve.Evo 2018 - Wikipedia
