Temporary Fix For Broken Front Tooth

How can I fill in or hide my broken front tooth temporarily?

I lost the filling for the half of my front tooth that was missing, and now I have a chipped tooth. The dentist will fix this, but I have to wait up to a week and a half. How can I hide this and still open my mouth without looking ridiculous? I have school and a job, so I really can't let this be known. Thanks!

If a front tooth is broken, how can it be fixed?

When you say tooth is broken, the are different ways it can be broken..Just the outer enamel can be chipped off, it can involve internal pulp tissue can cause throbbing pain, the tooth might be cut off horizontally through and through, it can have a vertical split, or the tooth structure might be intact but dislocated within the socket..Dentists classify tooth fracture into 9 classes, according to Ellis classification (Tooth fractures) - Dental Clinic HelpBasically if you're not in pain and just the outer structure is broken, then a Dentist restores it using restorative materials.. Again there are choices of restorative materials and varies from case to case..If you're in pain, it means the pulp tissue is damaged or exposed causing the nerves to fire up resulting in pain..In such cases, a Dentist takes up a radiographic image of tge tooth to assess the extent of damage..After diagnosing, if the tooth is salvageable the Dentist recommends Root Canal Treatment, and later a ceramic crown on the tooth to hide any discoloration..In cases where the damage is extensive and tooth cannot be saved, the Dentist has to go for extraction and a Prosthetic teeth can be replaced for esthetic purposes..In the last case where the tooth is intact but dislocated within the socket, the Dentist checks the vitality of the socket..If the socket is still fresh with blood and can support the reattachment of tooth, the Dentist splints the tooth with adjacent tooth for support.. The tooth attached has lost its vitality so after a period of 3–4 weeks one has to undergo Root Canal Treatment for the complete treatment..This is just a brief information about the different treatment options, also there are various approaches within each treatment depending on the case..So always consult your Dentist for a detailed work up..Hope this helps..

Where can I get a Temporary tooth?

No, you can't buy an actual temporary tooth in the drug store. But if you have a regular dentist, he should be able to squeeze you in. A broken tooth is a semi-emergency, and if your dentist makes you wait for an appointment for something like that, you need a different dentist. I don't think it will be a problem.

If this is not an appearance problem (in other words, if it is not a front tooth), you might be able to get by for a day or two with temporary filling material. Those products work pretty well, and they are available at CVS and other drug stores. Good luck, and I hope this helps.

How to temporarily repair broken tooth?

I broke the tooth that is just to (my) right of my front teeth. i cant quite afford a dentist at the moment, and was wondering if there was a temporary solution. Ive been using this dental wax thats apparently meant for braces, to smooth over the now sharp edge, but it comes out when i bite food with it. I found this stuff called "DenTek: Temparin Max" and was wondering if that would work?
again i just need a temporary fix till i can see the dentist in a couple of weeks or so.
thank you in advance.

Broken front tooth(gum line)?

Just because the tooth broke like you explain, it does not mean you will need a root canal.
The dentist looks at the tooth, a radiograph and your symptoms.
If the radiograph and the exam show that the nerve is not exposed, and you do not have any pain or discomfort, you may want to try to see if it can be bonded and avoid a root canal.
A root canal is done as a last resort, when you will have pain or loose the tooth if it is not done.
Bonding the tooth will make it look fine again, but it may not last as long as a crown or veneer.
Make an appointment with your dentist and talk to him or her about your options.
I hope this helps.

Why do i lisp now? A front tooth broke in half and now I have this terrible lisp. Is this normal?

It is VERY normal. You may not realize it but when you make the /s/ and /f/ sounds, you use your tongue (for the /s/) and your lower lip (for the /f/) to speak. With the gap, there is more air, interfering with the speech sound.
