The Only Thing That Clears My Acne Is Tanning

Does tanning in a tanning bed help clear acne and acne scars?

Yes, tanning helps acne but it won't help your scars. If anything it would make scars worse if you don't protect them. It took me about 4 weeks of tanning to see acne results, but it really helped dry up acne on my face and chest. If you exfoliate your face regularly, you can help the scarring, just make sure to wear a moisurizer on the scars while you tan and after. It sounds strange, but acne forms sometimes because you don't use moisturizer on your skin and it over produces its own oil because of it. I did not use a sunblock because I didn't see the point in tanning and using sunblock. But I never use high pressure beds, just the standard without face lamps or facial tanners. The facial tanners will really make you look old if you use them. Stick to the low pressure standard beds and you will have good luck.

Why is sun the one and only thing that clears my acne (vitamin d?)?

That amount of milk does not have much Vit D in it. And milk iteslf is usually not that good for your complexion. You need to get some sun daily, at least 10 minutes preferably between the hours of 10 am to 2 pm, but sun is sun. Winter sun is good also. If you want a supplements go and buy some vitamin D3. Take a few thousand IU's a day. It is not the uv rays sterilizing your skin, it is the Vit D reacting with your body chemistry to change the nature of the oil your skin produces.
Keep up with good skin hygiene and get some sun, without makeup or sun screen on, for about 10 minutes a day. Just don't overdo the sun to much is not good just as to little is not good.

Tanning is making my face breakout?

Are you putting the tanning lotion on your face? That can cause you to break out. I have never heard of tanning causing break outs. It clears all my acne up also, so it is probably the lotion you are using.

Tanning is the only thing helping my acne, how bad is this?

This past year my face has been breaking out alot, mainly stress I think and I know everyone is against tanning these days but I went becuase I'm trying to get a tan for a modeling shoot I'm doing and it's for summer so I needed to "look the part" so to speak. Just for a glow, not even to be "tan" really, well I'm amazed with how it's helping my skin! I stopped using BP and I just wash my face, exfoliate sometimes, and moisturize and my skin is clearing up so fast and is less oily and looks great! I'm still pretty pale too so it's not like I'm doing it for the "tanning hides pimples", it just seems to really help! I only go once a week for ten minuetes, the staff there says you don't actualy start tanning till after 8, am I endangering myself too much?

Tanning beds clear skin?

It is true and it is false.

Here's why:
It's true in that it clears your skin ONLY if you tan regularly
Tanning dries the skin, so it dries most acne on your skin. When I start tanning, the pimples on my back and face gradually go away. It's great!
Except you have to do it VERY often to maintain this clear skin. So this is why it's realy actually false. if you miss a few days of tanning, well your skin creates extra oil to make up for the dryness and so the result is A LOT of acne (this happens to me if I skip only like 5 days of tanning, my face is pimple city!)

So it is only a temporary solution to clear skin, and only if you're OK with tanning like every other day :/ which is extremely bad for you skin. So, I believe people should not use tanning as a way to clear their skin. they should go to the dermatologist and find a permanent, or almost permanent solution to their acne problems :)

Hope I helped :)

Can you lie face down on a tanning bed?

It will take a few sessions to get a tan. Just because you are red doesn't mean that area will become darker. Ask the tanning salon if they have a bed with a face tanner in it. BTW a tanning bed will dry up your skin so some light will help with current acne issues. The only thing a tanning bed will do for scars is reduce the appearance of them with your tan. If you have severe or deep acne scars you need to research other alternatives then tanning.
