Thinking About A Career In The Army/air Force Need Advise

I need advice Army or Air Force? i'm indecisive ?

if you like more hand on hand combat..go Army..but if you like more technical jobs..go Air Force..by the way..hardly anyone in the Air Force will fly planes..just so you know..the only thing the Air Force has thats even close to the Army is Security Forces..which is'nt as exciting as it sounds. from my perspective.. and Military Police officers, which stand and solute people at the gates..
But the Army has more hand on hand fighting (Rangers, Green Berets) etc.
idk. you'll have to decide on your own though...go to www.airforce.com
or www.goarmy.com..and look under the careers tab..see what you like

Is joining the Air Force a good career choice?

I m in general studies currently and still unsure what I want to do, I m graduating in May with an Associates. Any information you wanna share on Air Force? And what you think are some good career choices they offer in it? Any info/experience in it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm thinking of joining the Air Force. Pros and Cons?

Pros:
-You get pretty decent pay
-Free food and housing
-They pay for college
-Air Force treats their soldiers the best
-Job stability
-You get a degree while you are in it
-You get in great shape
-Paid medical expenses
-You get to see many parts of the world
-You can easily get a job when you get out (one relating to what you did in the service (airplane mechanic, air traffic controller - $100,000/yr+, police officer anywhere)
-You can get a house on or right off the base and stay with you family. They have a school on base for your child as she grows, and civilian jobs for your wife

Cons:
-The military's needs come first, so you cant choose where you will be stationed
-You won't see your family during basic training (2 months) and tech school (can be 2 months, can be 8 months, depends on your air force career)
-If they need you in Iraq, then you will have to go. Good thing is that Obama is trying to pull the soldiers out of Iraq, so you either won't have to go, or you wont have to go for long.

Personally I suggest you go. It will be good for you. Don't worry about being deployed. It's part of the job, and you will be thankful once you're able to start supporting your family I am an 18 year old female and I considered going, that's why I researched all of this stuff. In the end I decided not to go because unlike you I have my college paid for and I still live with my mother so I don't need to worry about job stability yet. When I go off to an university, that's another story.

I need advice on college vs. Air Force?

I am planning on pursuing a nursing career, but I have bad grades from a previous college, which would most likely hurt me on transferring to another college. (I went for pre-med for 1 yr and did very bad on my last semester on first college, now I'm trying to transfer to another one with a different major). If i get very lucky, i might get accepted to the one I'm transferring too, but there is a chance i wont get in. Thats when i thought i could join the Air Force and pursue nursing career and something greater there.

Now my question is, is it a good choice on joining the AF and going to nursing school while in there? I read a few Yahoo questions and answers on going to school first and then joining AF, but in my case, things may be different if i don't get accepted to college.

Should I enlist in the Air Force at the age of 33? I’m feeling my call.

I enlisted at age 35, and did one deployment to Afghanistan at 37. I outdid most of the younger peeps on my PT test.I’m going against the grain and say yes, as long as you understands what that means. If you are willing to enlist you would only do it to go active duty, this means, working for the Air Force full time.Go active duty. This way you get all the benefits there are. Including a pension eventually.Active duty means you will have to move when they tell you to move. If this is ok for your wife and 4 kids, then go for it. They can usually go to school on the base.Active duty means that if you live on base, they pay for your housing. If you live outside base, they give you money to pay for housingKnow that someone at age 22 can be yelling at you. You will be surrounded by a lot of young people, a lot of them outrank youMake sure that you list your Associate degree, so that you can enter as an E-3, get paid as an E-3, rather than E-1. Enlisted ranks are E-1 through E-9.Air Force is the correct branch to go. Do not join the army. That’s what I did. That’s the only mistake I did, joined the army, ended up looking for bombs in Afghanistan. The Air Force is the “most common sense applied” branch. None of them are common sense, but there is a relative ranking between the branches. The benefits are incredible. If you feel stuck at a dead end job, and you think Department of Defense can be interesting, enlisting is not a bad way to go. Once you qualify for school benefits and put in enough years, you can pass them on to your kids. Are your wife and kids ok with you being gone while you do basic training and your “job” training? During this time, you will not be home, and they will not house your family. For me, this was 6 months. You can qualify to student loan repayment as one of the benefits. This will take care of some of your only debt that you may have. So, long story short, if you feel stuck, do it. Understand that they may treat you like an 18 year old, and if you are ok with that, you will not have an issue. Take it seriously, promote as soon as you can, and always do a great job, regardless of peers that may look at it as a temporary phase of their life and not give a shit.

Could I have some Air Force Officer/Enlisted advice on intelligence jobs?

ASVAB scores: QT=74, M=64, A=78, G=70, E=69 Composite=281
Joining Air Force
Please give advice on each job listed. These are the ones I really want and have qualified for, missed Linguistics by 2pts on G-score. Not happy about that. I checked these online already but want YOUR input. =D

1) 1N1X1 - IMAGERY ANALYSIS
1N0X1 - OPERATIONS INTELLIGENCE
1N2X1 - COMMUNICATION SIGNALS INTELLIGENCE PRODUCTION
1N4X1 - NETWORK INTELLIGENCE ANALYSIS
1C3X1 - COMMAND POST

2) If you are not happy with what you get in MEPS, is it true that its too late to turn around and go home? I know you dont sign anything until the end, but the Recruiter says "I'm not sending you there unless you are set on swearing in that day".

3) I have a 4yr degree in Bus. Admin. but have a 2.5 GPA, so i dont qualify for OTS, is there a way around that? I would go in as E-3 if I enlist but I badly want to be an officer. E-1 to E-3 takes 10 months I want my 4 yrs to take me further than that.

Should I go to college or join the Air Force? (PLEASE GIVE ADVICE)?

I'm really having a tough time deciding whether or not I should join the A.F. I'm in my second year of community college with 30 credits. I can either transfer or do four years in the air force. Whatever I do, I plan on getting my bachelors someday. I would like to join the A.F. for travel, learn a skill, see new things, and to meet new people and finish up my associates degree. If everything goes well I will leave the air force at age 24 and finish up my last two years of school. Some of my family would rather me just go get my bachelors and forget the AF. My mom says if I want to travel so bad hopefully I'll just have a good job and I can pay for it with that. In today's economy it isn't even guaranteed I'll end up finding a great job when I graduate. I'd like to go to school for the learning experience and the fun. If i do the AF I'll wonder what it would be like to be young and in college. If I do college I'll wonder my entire what it would have been like if I joined the A.F. PLEASE HELP VERY CONFUSED THANKS.

by the way, I'm not interested in doing school then becoming an officer in the AF. I'm not looking to make a career out of the Air Force. I just want four years.
