Those Who Do Both Do You Prefer Ski Boarding Or Using Regular Skis

Why do people prefer skiing than snowboarding?

Skiing is more practical if you just do it a few times a year -- It's easier to learn and allows you to see more of the mountain. Snowboarding honestly takes 3-4 days to get decent enough at to enjoy yourself.

It's all the same if you go all the time, I do both and I prefer snowboarding the majority of the time.

amad --- A large reason I quit skiing was because I f**ked up my knees playing basketball, IMO... Snowboarding is WAY easier on your knees.

Why do you prefer snowboarding or skiing?

I have this argument regularly with a good friend and i think it will be easiest if i just go ahead and list all of my points, im a scottish skier, i say that cuz avoiding rocks is all part of the scottish ski training and works like a charm:
anyways

*Skiing is much faster and much more controllable than boarding
*People say that boarding looks cooler, but honestly theres only one air trick at the end of the day(besides spins), a grab, different kinds of grabs yes but there the same thing just from different angles, skiing on the other hand theres the grab(all forms), helicopter, flying squirrel, Backscratcher, Daffy, Lincoln loop and so many more (most are hard to believe when you see them, and i suppose we shouldn't forget that these are done during spins and flips as well)(and yes boards can do flips/spins)
*Skiing isn't necessarily easier to learn, its just more dignified as we dont fall all the time as we have more control, and snowboarders allways get in my way
*Skiers can go uphill without taking our skis off
*Skiers, ddidntknow why, but always seem to be nicer people, and much fitter
*[sad or what] skis generally have much more of a feel of 'engineering excellence'
*you dont noramlly have to wait at the bottom of a drag lift whilst a boarder goes up 6 metres and falls then gets on again and dose the same again, and again , and again, and...
*Casual dressed pro skiers just look so much better than the best baggy troosered pro snowboarder.
*running out of ideas so il finnish up by saying that boards are a million times less capable than skis, they cant go uphill, they cant do precission, they cant push themselves allong. and so on

*by the way, bladers are gay in france apparently, and i dont like them either as there is no skill in that area, not when i tried it anyway.

so there you go, my opinions on boarding vs skiing
i could go on but id just bore you

cheers
[edit: sorry for spelling trouble, bloody spell checker changed them to not make sense]

Skiing or Snowboarding?

It depends on what you mean by uncoordinated...

There is no question that skiing is a lot easier pick up on your first day. Most people can get down the bunny hill withough falling after their first lesson.

You should expect to spend at least a few days on a snowboard before you're linking turns and riding properly.

The one area where skiing is tough for beginners is just the amount of stuff you have to deal with and carry around. You've got 2 poles and 2 skiis to carry around and deal with when you fall. Snowboarding you've just got your boots which you're wearing and your board.

So if you don't have great balance, I would start w/ skiis. But if you don't want to deal with a lot of stuff and you're patient snowboarding would be the better choice.

Which winter sport is easier to learn: snowboarding or ski?

Based on personal experience, skiing was easier to learn the basics on (as coordinating your body movements to stay upright on a single board was very difficult.) However, once you learn the basics snowboarding is easier to control tricks with.
