Thoughts On My Short Poem/lyrics

Whats a Lyric Poem?

Lyric Poetry: a short poem with one speaker (not necessarily the poet) who expresses thought and feeling. Though it is sometimes used only for a brief poem about feeling (like the sonnet).it is more often applied to a poem expressing the complex evolution of thoughts and feeling, such as the elegy, the dramatic monologue, and the ode. The emotion is or seems personal In classical Greece, the lyric was a poem written to be sung, accompanied by a lyre.

Lyric poem
A type of poem characterized by brevity, compression, and the expression of feeling. Most of the poems in this book are lyrics. The anonymous "Western Wind" epitomizes the genre:

Western wind, when will thou blow,
The small rain down can rain?
Christ, if my love were in my arms
And I in my bed again!

Paraphrase? lyric poem?

How Do I Love Thee?
by Elizabeth Barret Browning

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of being and ideal grace.
I love thee purely, as they turn from praise.
I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhoods faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints--I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears of all my life! And, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

Paraphrase what you consider the most appealing or meaningful line that you find in the poem.

I did not write them...the artist is "Spill Canvas"
The song is "All Over You"

Yeah he's a looker,
but I really think it's guts that matter most.
I displayed them for you,
strewn out about from coast to coast.

I am easily make believe,
just dress me up in what you want me to be.
I'll take back what I've been saying for quite some time now.

I gotta feel you in my bones again,
I'm all over you.
I'm not over you.
I wanna taste you one more time again,
I'm all over you.
I'm not over you.

In my daydreams, in my sleep,
infatuation turning into disease.
You could cure me, see all you have to do now
is please try.
Give it your best shot and try.
All I'm asking for is love,
but you never seem to have enough.

I gotta feel you in my bones again,
I'm all over you.
I'm not over you.
I wanna taste you one more time again,
I'm all over you.
I'm not over you.
This life is way too short
to get caught up in all this stuff
when I just want you to love me back,
why can't you just love me back?

Why can't you just love me back?
(why can't you, why can't you)
Why can't you just love me back?
(why can't you, why can't you)
Why can't you just love me back?
(why can't you, why can't you just love)

I gotta feel you in my bones again,
I'm all over you.
I'm not over you.
I wanna taste you one more time again,
I'm all over you.
I'm not over you.
This life is way too short
to get caught up and all mixed up
when I just want you to love me back,
why can't you just love me back?

Why won't you just love me back?

Why can't you just love me back?

My lyrics look more like poems than lyrics. How can I adapt them to pop and/or rap music?

On Netflix, in an exclusive interview, David Letterman has a one on one conversation with Shaun Carter (Jay Z). It’s really fucking awesome. I like it because they cover so much material you can’t get from a 60 min late night cable show where you’ve gotta share the stage with 2 other guests, 2 songs from some band, and commercials. One of the questions Dave had was, and I’m paraphrasing (How do you piece together such an elaborate story, because to me, it seems like you’re jumping all over the place, talking about things that aren’t in a linear form.” J responded with “its just like telling jokes… sometimes you hit one…and they keep rolling one after another. Other times it feels like work and it’s a struggle to put something out there that you like 100%. Sometimes a song will take 3 mins, sometimes 3 weeks”.Point is. You can draw from any anywhere with your rhymes. When you were little, in the future, in the present. I bet what you have is good. You and Keep at it. Ask yourself if your rhymes are elaborate enough. Sometimes words rhyme in more than one part of it. Maybe change up the cadience. Cadience is the syllable that hits the hardest when you say the word. It’s the emphasis. Think of the first few verses of “the way I am” by Eminem…. I sit back, with this pack, of zig zags and this bag of this weed that gives me the shit needed to be the most meanest Mc.You get the idea.

Is the poem The road not taken a lyric poem or a narrative poem?

I beleive the poem is lyric in nature. It tells the short story of Frost's life in 20 stanzas. He comes to the crossroads and decides to take the less traveled road, rationalizing that someday he will come back and conform, but knowing in truth he will not. He makes his decision and concludes that his decision to take the road less traveled has made all the difference. It expresses Frost's feeling about life and shows complexity of thought. Its cadence is lyrical.
An awesome poem by the way!!

P b shelley as a lyricist?

You can take some information from here.

It can be said without any reserve that the genius of English poetry is best manifested in the great Romantic Lyricism of the 18th Century. The Lyricism became spectacular in the Odes, Sonnets, and elegies of Wordsworth, Shelley, Coleridge, Byron and Keats. The Lyricism of these great Romantic poets is generally deemed unsurpassable either by their illustrious predecessors or by their subsequent meritorious successors. Romantic poetry is basically Lyrical even when its theme is philosophic, didactic or secular love.

A Lyric is a short poem, usually divided into stanzas and directly expressing in melodious language the thoughts, emotions and feelings of the poet himself… It is the crowning glory of the subjective poetry. In modern times the range of the Lyric poetry has expanded so far that it is now identified with the subjective poetry. Originally, however, the Lyric meant a song which was sung in accompaniment with a Lyre or Harp.

This original sense of the lyric being a song is preserved in its melodious (musical) language and in the intensity of emotion or feeling expressed. But whereas , in ancient times the Lyric ,like music , was inspired by something external to the poet by such public events as war, triumph in war, and religious ceremonies, and as such possessed the objective character , the modern Lyric , however, is inspired by something within the poet and possesses purely personal character. A Lyric proper is actually the product of a swift, momentary and passionate impulse. It implies impulsiveness or subjectivity. Secondly, it turns on to some single thought, feeling or situation. Thirdly, it is unique in its spontaneity and sincerity. Fourthly, a Lyric possesses the element of reflection and last but not the least feature of the Lyric is its music or melody. Shelley is considered as the greatest Lyricist till date.

What are some important characteristics of lyric poetry?

Most lyrical poems are short, but there are longer examples. They also tend to be written in first person and include the writer in the poem. Another characteristic of lyrical poetry is in the types of moods and emotions the poem expresses. These emotions tend to lean toward the extremes in life, such as love, death or loss. Other emotions can be expressed, but the emotion is always very intense. An example of a lyric poem is "I'll tell you how the Sun rose" by Emily Dickinson. A lyric is a short poem that expresses the feelings and thoughts of a single speaker. It utilizes vibrant images as well as descriptive words to create a specific mood.A lyric can have rhymed or unrhymed verses; however, it is basically written in a melodic fashion. In classical Greece, a lyric was sung with a lyre. Lyric poetry is meant to express a personal emotion in an imaginative fashion rather than tell a story. The initial lines from Dickinson's poem are: "I'll tell you how the Sun rose - A Ribbon at a time - The steeples swam in Amethyst, The news, like Squirrels, ran."

What is lyric type poetry?

First, let’s analyze the category itself. There are MANY different ways to categorize poems: love poems, poems that rhyme, sad poems, long or short poems. These can (and have been) ways to describe poetry. Another way is to analyze and categorize poems based on their FUNCTION, that is, what the poem DOES.Thus, functional definitions of poetry are-Narrative Poems: That class of poems that TELL a STORY.Dramatic Poems: That class of poems that ENACT a story through the voice or voices of a CHARACTER or CHARACTERS.Lyric Poems: Any fairly short poem that TELLS the FEELINGS or observations of a SINGLE SPEAKER.Of course, in practice there may be some overlap, some poems may appear to be doing more than one of those things, but as a general description, these 3 categories are very useful descriptors. Now, Lyrical poetry is the kind that most people think of when they think poetry. Consider the components-Fairly short. How short is short? I don’t know. Short enough to be capable of memorization by most people. I don’t know what is short. I know what’s not. The Iliad. Beowulf. The Ramayana. All WAY too long to be considered “short.” My general rule of thumb is that “short” means it can be printed on a page or two. Think of a song on the radio. That’s about the length- a page or a couple of pages.Tells feelings or observations. This is the distinguishing mark of Lyrical poetry. It’s not a story, though it may sometimes vaguely seem like it is. It doesn’t have a narrator. It has an “I.”It has a SINGLE SPEAKER. Again, think about songs. Most of the songs you hear on the radio are a speaker telling his or her feelings: “I will always love you” or “I can’t help myself” or “I like big butts and I can not lie.” All of these are lyrical in nature, all telling feelings or observations, all of a single speaker. That’s it really. It’s not a complicated idea. It’s a simple formula that has worked for thousands of years and just keeps on working. We like lyrical poems because we empathize with the human emotions that they display.

Which of the following statements BEST explains a lyric poem?

Example of lyric.
Because of what you've Done
What you've become
I'd give my life to anyone
For one more night

and leaves it all of in mystery
also Lyric poetry is a form of poetry that does not attempt to tell a story, as do epic poetry and dramatic poetry, but is of a more personal nature instead. Rather than portraying characters and actions, the lyric poet addresses the reader directly, portraying his or her own feelings, states of mind, and perceptions.

Although its name, from the word lyre, implies that it is meant to be sung, this is not always the case. It certainly had its beginnings in song, but since the advent of mass literacy and the printing press, much lyric poetry is purely meant to be read

Also
Forlorn I've been scorned
always left to adorn
all the mindless tarantulas
so glad they were born
Take a seat, sip defeat
swim in visions through me
Oh, those careless tarantulas
roam ‘round but, don't feed
Oh, appetites, rights to fight
Pass a bandage when ya bleed
Yeaa,
help kick *** don't walk on past
flies in dire need
Hey, share the wealth you state yourself
is it your ego that you meet?
Flies are all the reason man
you're sitting in that seat
Hades breaks the beacon
so close to you endeared
all you inane tarantulas
Oh, yea, Satan will be feared
Like Hitler in a cauldron
ever weakened bluntly smeared
Oh, such foolish tarantulas
what if flies had not been here?
No appetites or rights to fight or
Pass a bandage when ya bleed
Yeaa,
kicking *** so in the past
Ah ha, now where's your money
Hey, keep that wealth all to yourself
nothing graveling at your feet.
But, flies were are all the reason man
you were sitting in that seat
Forlorn it should be
turned the other way ‘round
You'd be broke ain't no joke
flies are running your town
and they feed and they fight
aiding all who that have cried
Kicking ***
Kicking ***
Kicking assssssss
Oh, appetites, rights to fight
Pass a bandage when ya bleed
Yeaa,
help kick *** don't walk on past
flies in dire need
Hey, share the wealth you state yourself
is it your ego that you meet?
Flies are all the reason man
you're sitting in that seat

I would say C.

Is there any poem/lyric in which sadness is described as a person?

Sadness PersonifiedSadness is not that tallbut also not that shortaverage is the word to useif such a word is soughtBut in width he is bursting outand breaking all his seamsyet somehow Sadness seems so smalllike half forgotten dreamsSadness is very quietand also VERY shybut often he does hide it wellpoor Sadness, he does try.An actor great he really isfull of comedy and mirthbut turn your back and Sadness' facewill crash right through the earthAnd if you should ever catch a glimpsewhy, for Sadness, your heart would breakfor Sadness is long past pain;that dull sharp lasting acheDon't look Sadness in the eyesor your throat is a lump you cannot swallowfor you'll see inside the glazed over gazethat Sadness is completely hollowEmptied out and just a shellfar far gone beyond distressSadness drifts through space and timewhat anchors him on earth I can only guess. It is a sad smile Sadness ownswe all know he does not believe:it seems that all Sadness can do- in his life, is grieve. But Sadness does not grieve for lossnor death, hardship, nor strife.Ironically it would seem- that Sadness grieves for life.Sadness is not that tallnor is he that shortaverage is a word to useif use a word I ought. The time that I've known Sadnesshe's tried to disappearbut the more he tries to shrink awaythe more he's noticed hereFor he is not inconspicuousthough he wishes that were trueand covers up with cynicismwhilst painting himself blue. One time I befriended Sadnessbut then I broke his heartand then in turn Sadness broke minewe were both doomed from the start. But yet I still know Sadnesssometimes I say hiit's not an easy friendshipbut I think we both do try.I wish I could change SadnessI wish I could set him freebut I should have known long time agothat it was not up to meWhatever the future holds for either of us, I know..I can't spend too much time with SadnessI have to let him go.Credits : Sadness Personified by Sky Blue Pink
