Tips for first time spray tanning?

I want to get my first spray tan for prom this year. I'm kind of nervous so I'm trying to get some tips on how to make sure it doesn't look bad. I'm not going to go too dark but i just don't want to be washed out. So would anyone have any tips on how to prepare my skin beforehand or anything to do after to keep it looking nice? And about how long before prom should i get it done? Thanks to anyone that can help!

How tan do you get on your first time in a tanning bed?

you don,t it takes time for the skin to darken.

First time tanning bed tips for fair skin?

You need to get a package where you have unlimited visits during the next 2 weeks because you will probably need to go everyday. You dont need to start out at more than 10 minutes depending on the level of bed you are going to use. They will be able to tell you much more at the tanning salon. If it is a high level, you only need to stay in the bed for about 4-6 minutes. You will NOT see results the first time, and you might not even be able to tell the difference a second time. You need to build up the length of time that you lay, because you have to aquire a base tan before you lay for longer lengths of time and start to see results. The best thing you can do as far as lotion (I feel) is to do 2 things: 1)Exfoliate your skin before you go to get all of the dead skin cells off of your body. 2)Moisturize with just about any kind of lotion. That is SOOOO important! My own personal experience with tanning lotions is that they are useless and as long as I'm moisturized and exfoliated, I tan better. I do not tan very easily so I just gave up on buying expensive lotions. Now, with all that being said- I learned those things about 4 years ago before I discovered the holy grail of tan, beautiful, glowing skin: THE SPRAY TAN!!!!
I know you said that you are over self-tanners, but have you ever had a spray tan??? I SERIOUSLY think its the BEST way to go! I am the kind of person who needs instant gratification and I did NOT like waiting a week or so to get really dark in the tanning bed. It lasts for about 10 days. I usually get sprayed again on day 6ish because it starts to get splotchy. You can be sprayed twice or so in a row if you want to be super dark. There are a few different options and I choose to have someone spray me by hand. Yeah, you gotta get down to next to nothing (or nothing at all) and have someone about 9 inches away from your booty and your boobies, but it is much more consistent and even and gets in all of your curves, etc. I HIGHLY recommend that you AT LEAST try it and see how you like it. Here is what I do, I get sprayed about 4 times a month. Every other time (so 2times a month) I get sprayed, and right after that, I lay in the tanning bed for 15 minutes. I feel like it sets your tan much better than just drying off does. I hope something in this big long answer helped you! and I'm sorry if there are any typo's and grammar mmistakes. Im late for work but I saw your question and just had to answer! Good luck!

Tips on tanning beds?

Some tips: to avoid spots that won't get tan, spread you arms out so it can get underneath your arm. Spread your legs and butt cheeks also. Don't lay your legs flat down, use your feet to hold them up so you don't get a tan line underneath the butt. It's better to use indoor tanning lotion cause it will increase tan by 40%. Always use eye goggles and I would go for 8 min your first time. Then 10 then 12 then 13 and so on. If you burn it itches real bad so be careful and only go a max of 3 days a week to be safe. Have fun! Oh and a little extra tip.. Show your teeth it will make them white!

Tanning bed tips?

My tanning salon has new tanners take a questionnaire to determine if they are even qualified to tan (like if you have a history of skin cancer they won't let you tan), how long they should stay in a tanning bed and which lotion would be best for them.

Because I am biracial, I can tan for the max amount of time and use the highest dimension bronzers and tingles (they should explain dimensions to you). Bronzers give you that sun-kissed look, while tingles accelerate your tan by making you a little extra red while tanning (it fades into a tan... much like natural sun-tanning).

You know if you are at a good tanning salon if they explain all the different types of lotions and the beds. My biggest tip is to get the plan where you have access to all the beds (superbed, stand-up and platinum), and then rotate between the three. The different beds have different types of tanning rays (I think superbeds have UVA rays, which tan the deeper layers of skin, and the platinum/stand-ups have UVB rays, which tan the most outer layers of skin). Rotating ensures the deepest, darkest tan.

And OF COURSE... Make sure you have your eye-wear!!!!

Good luck!

How exactly do you go to the tanning bed? First time going!?

I was nervous the first time I walked in to a salon as well! I was terrified that I wouldn't know what to do and would be on my own to figure it out. Not at all the case... Most salons (for safety reasons) require you to be in their system before you can tan. This means filling out a short questionair on your skin type and medical history as well as giving some contact information. The consultant at the salon will go over your answers and most likely recommend a certain amount of time in the bed for you to start at. For people with fair skin, this can be as short as 5 or 6 minutes. The consultant will then walk you through your first visit showing you where the bed is, how to operate it, and what to do with your towel when you are through. Eye protection is required at most salons as well but only some provide them for you... it's a good idea to pick up a pair for yourself just in case. Most salons also offer lotions for sale but they can be pricey compared to shopping outside of the salon.
The choice to wear a bathing suit or go in the buff is completely up to you!

How long to get in the tanning bed for the first time ever?

5 minutes. If you didnt get burnt then next time you go add 2 minutes. Do that for 5 days then add another 2 mins. Make sure you use a tanning lotion. This will help you from not burning and it will help you tan faster. DO NOT use anything with tingle in it. If you dont know what that is then ask the people that work at the salon and they will let you know which ones dont have tingle in it. Tingle is for people that tan easy and have a nice tan already.

It also depends on the bed you go in. Some beds have more bronzing bulbs in them so you can usually go into them longer because you wont burn as easy. Those beds are level 3 or higher. If your going in a level 1 or 2 bed then I would stick with 5 mins.

Sunbeds first time user tips?

I am naturally quite pale, and this is me after about 3 days of walking around in the sun, not sunbathing.

So I'm using a stand up sunbed tomorrow for the first time, yes i know how bad blabla bla. I dont care, so only answer if you have helpful tips.. Do I put on lotion and will they provide goggles? Should I go in naked, and for how long should I go on my first time?

Look at the picture up the top and if that's from about 3 days walking in the sun just normally, how long will it take me to get a good tan even darker than that if I go on the sunbeds every 2/3 days fro two weeks?

Do you tip the tanning salon workers?

Everybody should get tipped because of the low wages. Unless they refuse it then keep it.
