Took Asvab Got A Question About The Job.

Question on asvab scores and jobs (NAVY)?

Okay I took the ASVAB and got a 50, I am 23 and been out of high school since 2003, so I am happy with my 50. Anyways I am also a tier2 seeing as my high school now falls under tier2 but when I graduated I got a high school diploma it doesn't make much sense. Anyways I been going in circles with my recruiter and today I finally bugged him enough and got more info out of him. I want to be an ABH and now I am being told I didn't meet the mechanical score for it and now I am really confused about it all. I keep getting told they need females and all that stuff but yet not a single job is open and then he made it seem like I didn't really qualify for much at all, so here are my scores can someone please help me understand all this.

I took the asvab test today and I got 51, what kind of job can I expect in the Army (recruiter was not clear?)

A score of 51 isnt that great and will greatly limit your options.

If you didn't really try that hard or didn't take the test seriously then I would wait that mandatory time and retake it. also try to study in the areas that you didnt do so hot in.

Ideally you want to be in the 90's, that way you can have any job that you want in any of the services.

Questions about jobs and my ASVAB score... Please help me out!?

As a potential Navy recruit I know CT jobs are available. The recruiters there were trying to tell me that they are putting a lot of people in CT...lots of females. CT(crypto) They have different specialties that you can see if you can get one promised on a contract to attend "c" school. Just some food for thought.

Got a 72 in my asvab, what jobs can i get in the army?

you will be able to qualify for most jobs with a 72 on the ASVAB...so if your recruiter bullshits you let me know jhaggerty22@yahoo.com I was in the army been through it all and have known some recruiters and asked lots of questions. Also you should be able to get school options and perhaps a cash bonus, trust they got it they just dont want to give it because they like to use them as incentives to fill specific job slots. Depending on what you want to do, 18X Special Forces, 11B-Infantry, do NOT get conned into becoming a tanker (M1A1) bad *** machine but in todays military your a grunt or a bastard and those things are dirty and always need maintenance...if you want intell I recommend 97 series and not 96 series...92Y is supply specialist which is a lot of paperwork but has lots of freedom and first dibs on a lot of cool ****, 92R is parachute rigger cool job and airborne is mandatory for that job, I do not recommend other 92 series jobs, dont get suckered into COMMO, if maintenance or computers is your thing do it...there are so many jobs and that score can get you most of them alone, ask for airborne and air assault or ranger too if you are not going 18X

medical is good but do NOT become a Combat Medic, cool, but very shitty too especially if u r a guy...and if you want military police, okay cool...you MIGHT get to do something similiar to Police when in garrison if u r lucky but you could wind up being a glorified infantryman or simply escorting detainees to and from various prison cells

How do I stop worrying about the ASVAB, getting my desired job (Cavalry Scout), and the MEPS for the Army, 4 years until I enlist?

For starters, the asvab isn't a one and done deal! You score low on it (which is hard to do), you can retake it, not sure how many times, and the scores needed for cav scout, according to Military and Veteran Benefits, News, Veteran Jobs is a CO of 90, which is combat and from what I remember wasn't that difficult to get. A list of line numbers is here: ASVAB and Army JobsNow as far as MEPS and getting your job, your recruiter will have a list of openings and MEPS will have one as well, if there isn't an opening, you dont sign on the dotted line until they do! Wait for a slot to open, dont let them talk you into going into one job then trying to reclassify into another.Lastly, quit worrying! I'm going to assume you're a freshman or sophomore, you have much bigger things to worry about that should take up your time. It's not like a football draft, you may have to wait a little bit to get what you want, and with a good recruiter you can get it and be ready for the fun of basic and AIT!

I scored a 35 on the ASVAB test, what jobs can I get?

I'm trying to list into the navy and that's what I scored, I was really hoping for at least a 75. They told me if I pass I can't retake it whatsoever. So what kind of jobs am I looking at here?

I got a 49 on the asvab. what job can i get in the army?

First of all, the ASVAB is scored on a curve with 99 as the highest score. I am a retired enlisted Navy man and they never took anyone below 39 for even the most menial jobs. You may not qualify for Intel, but without talking to your recruiter you cannot know what's available for jobs.

The requirements for OCS are probably at your recruiter's office or online. Google "Officer Candidate School".

You are allowed to retake the ASVAB once.

What's a good way to study for an ASVAB test?

There is no way that you can study for the ASVAB. Trust me. Working with this test for 5 years I must know something about it.   It's either you know it or not. Each section of the test is Timed. You can know how to do Trig, Geometry and Physics and you can know every word in the dictionary but if you are Slow at doing the equations or answering the questions, you will not do well on the test.   THE TEST:   Because they score only the answers you get correct, of course any answer that you did not even get to will not be scored at all.   Here's what you do.  Do the best as you can in each section. On all military test, 2 answers are normally way out in left field and can be negated right away. This now gives you a 50/50 chance of getting the answer correct. If you know it great, if not, take your best guess.   Once you know that there is only say 30 seconds left, go down the list and check answer "C" or "B" but check the same answer all the way down the list.   By doing this, you have at least a 25% chance of getting a correct answer which is a lot better than 0% if you had left that answer unchecked.   Almost everyone that answers this question will tell you to get the ASVAB Study Guide and swear by it.   In my 5 years in working with kids taking this test, I've known some who have taken the test once, then tried using the study guides and have gotten worse scores the second time.   There are others who will again swear by the study guides. Those people probably would have scored just as well without.   The only thing I can say about the Study Guides is that it will give you a good idea of what type of answers to expect to see on the actual ASVAB. Thats it!.

I got a 26 on my asvab?

I saw a job ad for a "linguist" on monster.com and it was for the U.S military. I'm an interpreter already and always looking for new work. I signed up and got an interview. I had NO IDEA, what to expect. I was just looking for more work. I got there, and was blown away. First off, they had me take the ASVAB which I was NOT prepared for. I didn't think I would ACTUALLY be joining the military if I was gonna work as an interpreter for them. So I took the test, I had no idea what to expect, I thought it was gonna be really easy. I didn't think I had an issue on the language portion (English and Reading Comprehension) but I hadn't taken a math class for four years and it's always been my toughest subject, and I am AWFUL at problem solving, I was never good at it, so I'm pretty sure that had a lot to do with my low score. Does a 26 practically mean I could be mildly retarded?
