Need suggestions for high end laptop?
I'm currently looking a for a high-end laptop mostly for programming though. I would like to once in a while play a game on it also, like maybe Starcraft. I've looked through many and Asus and MSI look very good to me. What I would prefer: RAM: 5GB or above HDD: 500GB or above Display: Higher end. 1600 x 900 - 1920 x 1200 The higher the better. Graphics: I'm sort of behind on graphics, but a good Nvidia should do the trick. Run games smoothly. CPU Speed: At least 2.3 Ghz or above. Etc: Multiple USB ports, decent sound quality, battery life - 3 or more hours, And what's your opinion on size? I think 13" -15" is good, does anyone have portability issues? I mean that as the laptop is just too big, etc. And my price range is up to $1,000. Thanks for looking, I really appreciate the help.

Absolutely not. You will not be able to play any top end games with that without experiencing serious lag. If you're going to get a Pentium 4, at least get one that's near 3.0 GHz. I would suggest going dual-core, though. Make SURE MAKE SURE MAKE SURE, though, that there is a good GRAPHICS CARD in the laptop.

-sigh- Don't buy a laptop for gaming, buy a laptop for having a computer for modest usage on the go. If you want gaming, buy parts of off Newegg.com, and build it yourself, it's a lot easier than most folks think. What I have is a Macbook Pro, a Netbook, and a desktop computer. I use the MBP for when I'm going away on trips for more than a day, or when I'm sitting on the couch, and don't want to hunker down in front of my desktop. My netbook is brought to classes with me all day, which I use to take notes, and occasionally look things up while I'm at cafes doing homework. Lastly, my desktop is used for hardcore computing, such as compiling programs I write, Photoshop, AutoCAD, and last but definitely not least, gaming. If you go with my suggestion on building a gaming computer here's my advice, buy everything from either newegg.com or tigerdirect.com, and here's my preference in components: Case: Anything you want, just make sure your motherboard fits it. Motherboard: Asus Processor: Intel Quad Core, make sure it's compatible with your motherboard Heatsink: Should come with your processor, if not, order one that's compatible with yours. Hard Drive: 500GB Caviar SATA drive RAM: 2-4GBs, anything more is just going overboard Graphics Card: this is the essence of a gaming computer, I have an Nvidia GeForce 9600 GSO, get whatever you like, but I recommend the 9 series by Nvidia Disk Drive: Anything, preferably SATA, and have it be a DVD burner Building a computer is an extremely fun experience, so if you do end up doing it, enjoy yourself, and remember, have fun :D Any questions about building a computer, or any of the components, look around on the web, that's how I learned.
