Toyota Tercel 93 Timing Belt Replace

Rough Idle 1993 Toyota Tercel, what's wrong?

While the little car is idling, with the hood open, can you hear a pronounced "hiss"? If you are not sure, with the engine idling, use a can of carb cleaner and spray around the intake area, particularly in the area you were working. If there is a change in the idle and it smooths out, locate the leak and repair it.
Be certain that you replaced everything else correctly. I know, you probably have checked, but check again. You admittedly lost one of the pieces, so, if necessary, go back and re-check EVERY place you put your hands.
If this doesn't turn something up, there could be a coincidence.

...and scroll down below the descriptions, and follow the procedure for retrieving codes. If there are any, write them down, and refer to the description(s) for the areas of needed attention.
If there is a code delivered for a particular system, refer to a repair manual and follow the proper DIAGNOSTIC routine first, BEFORE repairing or replacing any component(s). One system (eg. fuel) can affect mixture, and can cause a code for a MAP or O2 sensor etc.
Check that you replaced all of the plug wires in the correct order and on the correct plug.
Basically, check the basics. It was running before you started. Look to see what YOU did that changed it. It doesn't take much, and when you find it, you will probably feel really dumb. I know I do when I do those sorts of things.

Good Luck and Merry Christmas

1994 toyota tercel rebuilt engine?

I would like to know what is done when they rebuild an engine for a 1994 toyota Tercel. i changed my head and valves and changed the timing belt. Blue smoke is coming out the exhaust of my car and burning the motor oil quick. should i replace the pistons since i already put money in it or replace the motor?

How do i change the timing belt on a 1984 toyota tercel wagon?

You will need a Impact or a chain wrench to hold the pulley from turning. Then get a big breaker bar and pull hard.
They can rust in and be very hard to get out.

Does the 2010 Toyota Corolla have a timing belt or timing chain?

Toyota corolla depends on the type of engine it is.If its a petrol version it has a timing chain. For diesel version it has a belt.If you still have confusion a servicable timing belt has easy access bolts on cover so mechanic can open and observe them.Another clue timing belt is replaced every 1,50,000 kms or 3 years whichever comes earlier. It would be easily defined if your car had visited for belt replacement on previous occasion.2 clues they leave first is service history where part is issued. And second is the belt cover, where on top a sticker is pasted whenever it was replaced last.If its a stock belt, then sticker will be of yellow colour with black printed marking..and if replaced by Dealer then a grey sticker with black hand written marking by permanent marker.Toyota also has a timing belt service light which comes on once it reaches 1,50,000 kms, or incase someone opens and replaces the belt. For timing chain its a non serviceable part, the movement of chain makes it serviceable only in case the timing is out due to solonoid swich or oil pressure switch fault.Aur in case of accidental damage. So gasoline versions can stay happy as its non serviceable. It has a marking of Vvti on trunk or fender which is in case it has a chain, wheras for Diesel version its written D4D where a belt is placed.Up votes doesn't funds me financially, but it supports a writer's morale. Be generous of your donation, it won't cost you more then a click.

Why won't my car start after fixing a broken serpentine belt?

Ok so first question is the starter rotating the motor like it should and it just wont start or are you turning the key without getting any results. If its not turning over id first off hit the starter solenoid with a soft hammer a few good raps may dislodge a stuck solenoid. Now if the motor is spinning but not firing up my first place id look is the distributor wiring unless it runs coil packs then i would guess that you knocked the wires off the crank sensor or maybe even broke the crank sensor. I am at a disability here not knowing what the vehicle make is., if it died while driving because belt fell off and you ran on battery till it ran out of power. ( a jump start is the ticket in that case ) Honestly im going with the crank sensor or crankshaft position sensor.being the root of your problem because if the belt broke it could easily take out the sensor as belt flew around the front of the motor. But check all your connections and research the crank sensor ..its usually a cheap and easy part to replace if its in a area where belt passes by it that makes sense as to your problem. Ok let me know a bit more info if possible. Dont give up the answer will come

What is the source of a rattling noise after tune-up and timing belt change?

you need to tack it back right away..if not the shop might play it off as your own tinkering mistakes...and they wont cover it in the warrenty

What causes horrible MPG in my 1981 Toyota Tercel?

hmmmm, I'd guess you have a timing problem from this line

"Brand new water pump, timing belt, distributor cap and rotor, new spark plugs and wires all around"

The timing belt could have been off one tooth when you replaced it, the distributor cap could be a off a few degrees from when you timed the car.

92 Tercel 4cyl, CAR PROBLEM?

Well I've worked on many different cars in my time and as I was reading the details I was thinking "it could be the transmission." Then I smiled when I got to that part.
A bad torque converter would give you these symptoms. Low level of trans. fluid would also do that or a dirty trans. filter, dirty or burnt fluid or the bands could be slipping.

1993 toyota corolla stall when at a stop?

Your car has an idle speed control motor to keep it running at idle. The computer opens and closes the motor to allow air into the engine to keep it running. But the computer has to make certain assumptions to operate the valve sufficiently, and one of the assumptions is how much air goes by the throttle body at idle. If it is very dirty, not enough air can go by, and the compute can't compensate. Try cleaning the throttle body with some spray cleaner and a tooth brush. Take off the boot that comes from the air filter, block the throttle open (even a stick inside the car will work) and scrub it until you see clean shiney aluminum, but don't scrape. If that doesn't fix it, your idle control motor may be bad. Let us know how it tuns out.
God Bless!
