Waking Up And Having Vertigo In The Middle Of The Night

Waking up middle of night nauseous and dizzy?

the last 3 nights ive been waking up in the middle of the night extremely nauseous and on the way to the bathroom im so dizzy i fall many times along the way. I wake up in the morning and dont have that problem. Any ideas why?

Why do I feel dizzy and WEAK after peeing in the middle of the night?

I agree with Dr. Liang-Hai. The culprit is your blood pressure drop due to either change in position from lying down to standing (orthostatic hypotension) or after emptying your bladder. Urination is autonomically governed and is related to relaxation/contraction of smooth muscles not only of the bladder but also of blood vessels, hence its association with blood pressure. But it might also be a different medical condition and that the peeing and dizziness were merely coincidental. I hope its the former. If it is, then it might help if: from lying position, slowly sit down in bed first for a while and stretch/flex your arms and legs until more or less blood has circulated into them before you slowly stand up to go pee. And don’t strain while urinating. Otherwise, you may have to see your doctor if it persists. Diabetes may present occultly in this manner. Also, this kind of syncope is more common among the older population with medical conditions or those taking medications that can affect blood pressure. I don’t normally openly offer management in Quora, but it seems you need it. I myself had syncope before, hit my head on a hard surface and suffered from concussion. You wont like this happening to yourself….Good luck!Try these 15 minute exercises which make a real difference: The Vertigo and Dizziness Program vsl cb

Dizziness Waking in Middle of Night?

I tend never to get an uninterrupted night of sleep, and for years now when I wake up in the middle of the night, I have about a five-minute spell of dizzines. I get up, stagger sideways for a minute because the room feels tilty, and sit back down to wait it out. I don't have an inner ear infection, and it only happens when I first wake up early in the morning. After I go back to bed and get up at a reasonable time, it's gone. Anybody know what's up? Do I just have an unusually hard time transitioning to wakefulness? Thanks! :)

What might cause vertigo symptoms at night during sleep?

A2AI don't think you can have a loss of balance (vertigo) in your sleep because you are not conscious or aware of balance. There are known cases of vestibular disorders that can cause the symptoms of perpetually falling over. Chapter 1 of Norman Doidge's book 'The Brain that changes itself' deals with one such scenario. However, there is a biological mechanism where you can upset the crystals in the semicircular canals when you roll over in bed. I have seen several patients present with Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo from no other traumatic cause except that they woke up in the morning with the classical symptoms of BPPV!!Testing is done by: Dix- Hallpike Test and treatment is: Epley Manouver.Go to your Physiotherapist or GP for a consult after confirming they are good with vestibular disorders.

Feeling dizzy while sleeping and waking up?

Dizziness is something that needs to be seen by a doctor. The two most common things a person has symptoms of dizziness from are 'labryinthitis,' which is in the inner ear and comes from having a 'cold' virus (although no other cold symptoms may be present) and it's HORRID ... the dizziness is usually accompanied by vomiting and a person simply can't 'sit up' or even look at anything because they are so dizzy. The second most common thing is low blood pressue ... and if you are dizzy when sleeping or on waking, you may have sleep apnea and you aren't getting enough oxygen at night to sustain you. Some people actually stop breathing for minutes at a time when they have sleep apnea. GO TO THE DOCTOR as soon as possible ... this is not a 'true emergency' so don't go to the ER unless you are also vomiting and can't walk, but make the SOONEST appointment you can with your primary care physician and tell him that you want this 'investigated' so you don't have to put up with this dizziness any more ...

Last night I woke up in the middle of the night really dizzy and nauseous. What caused this?

Go see a doctor. Maybe you think it’s anxiety but it’s something else. I have epilepsy, a very mild form that developed in adulthood with no known cause. I mostly have seizures at night, while I’m sleeping. I may even had them long before I was diagnosed. Only twice I had them while I was awake. I don’t remember anything about the first time. But on the second time I woke up very dizzy and nauseous, and then I had a seizure a while later. Sometimes people have a warning that they are going to have a seizure, it’s called an aura. In my case it’s nausea, dizziness and confusion. Some people can have other warning signs or none at all. Check with a good doctor to make sure it’s not something serious.

Extreme vertigo when I turn my head at nite.?

It could be one of a number of things.

1. It could be an inner ear deal but if it only happens at night, I doubt it.

2. Your neck could be out of place and specifically the "Atlas" joint. This joint helps control your balance and when it is out, you can get this feeling when you are laying down and turn your head. I have had it and it really sucks. Try standing on one foot during the day. Can you maintain balance? Now try closing your eyes. If you start to fall, that is your problem. Your eyes can over ride the senses and stop it while you are up but at night, your eyes don't work in the dark so you get the loss of that ability.

The joint is the very top one where your spine attaches to your skull. Press on it and see if it is tender. If it is, contact a Doctor of Osteopathy or a Chiropractor. They can pop you back into place and stop the vertigo.

Could a ruptured brain aneurysm be misdiagnosed as vertigo (inner ear infection)? Would it explain memory loss?

Context: Around 3 years ago I woke up in the middle of the night with extreme vertigo. The vertigo, and heavy vomiting continued for several hours, and then subsided. My GP came to the house and diagnosed it as vertigo, probably due to an inner ear infection. I had an ENT exam at the hospital, but it came back clean.Ever since I have a serious memory impairment.I have discussed my memory issues with my GP, around a year later, but he dismissed it as ‘normal’ due to stress and lack of sleep. However, stress and lack of sleep aren’t issues anymore. My memory has improved somewhat, but is still abnormally bad.In your opinion, could this have been a ruptured brain aneurysm instead?

Why do I feel dizzy after waking up from sleep?

There are mainly three reason; decrease blood pressure, decrease blood sugar level and problems in your inner ear (involve in balancing your body). All other causes are directly or indirectly related to above mentioned reasons.Blood pressure: When you stand up after sleeping or sitting position there is pull of your blood to your legs and abdomen due to gravity that causes decrease in blood volume in your heart to pump causing a transient decrease in blood pressure causing dizziness and this condition is also known as orthostatic hypotension. Around the heart and blood vessel of the neck, there are special cell (baroreceptors ) which scene the blood pressure level in the body for its correction. When decrease in pressure baroreceptors send signals to centers in our brain, which signals heart to beat faster and pump more blood, and also decrease the diameter of the blood vessel finally maintain the blood pressure. Therefore if the baroreceptor is not working properly that might cause dizziness.Glucose: Bain cell utilize glucose as it main fuel for proper functioning. In extreme condition only it can use energy from fat. If you eat very less diet before sleeping might cause dizziness when wake up due to decrease in glucose level. For more: http://medicalbasic.net/why-do-y...

Why am I feeling dizzy while sleeping?

One night I woke up from a strange sensation - I felt dizzy. It was just the beginning of dawn and I could see the gray shapes of the objects in my bedroom. The room was spinning. I tried to get up - and laid back down immediately - I could not maintain my balance. In the morning I did get up but I could only walk looking straight ahead of me. Any glance sideways made me lose my balance. This lasted two days, then went away just as suddenly as it came on.Later I found out it was called vertigo. It is usually caused by changes in your inner ear. In most cases, vertigo is transient (goes away on its own). If it doesn’t go away and impairs your function, the cause needs to be investigated. My most recent bout of vertigo was not as severe as the one I described above, but merely annoying and followed an onset of pharyngitis (sore throat). It lasted a couple of days and went away when the the soreness started getting better. I attributed it to labyrinthitis (inflammation of an inner ear structure). The key thing to remember is if the dizziness is impairing your function you should seek medical attention.Otherwise, you may try doing the Half Sommersault maneuver by Dr Carol Foster. This, of course, will only work if you do have positional vertigo. Dizziness is a non-specific symptom and may be caused by more than one disorder.Simple Fix To Vertigo Continues To Be Widely Viewed Online Video
