Wattpad Popularity Do You Care About Being Popular

What is the most popular genre and topic on Wattpad?

Romance - Most wattpad users ate, to say I'm plain terms, suckers for romance. Personally, I prefer unique romance. But with wattpad, you'll find that clichés have a lot of importance. Of course, people look for unique books but still, they come across a cliche book, and they read it. That's wattpad. You know, those CEO, bad boy good girl, cocky baddasses? Those kind.Teen fiction - Most wattpadders are teens. So of course, they read loads of teen fics.Paranormal/Fantasy - Yes. Wattpad has a big audience for paranormal. Mostly werewolf and vampire novels. I personally love them. But then again, I live all the genres I'm mentioning here.Fanfictions - Ah. Fanfictions. Loads. I can't even list them all.

Who are the most popular writers on Wattpad?

Have you heard about the Wattpad Stars? They are some of the successful writers on the site, achieving success on and off Wattpad. A few names that come to mind are Anna Todd (imaginator1D), Lindsey Summers (DoNotMicrowave), Kelly Anne Blount (KellyAnneBlount), Rebecca Sky (RebeccaSky), Ali Novak (Fallzswimmer), Isabelle Ronin (isabelleronin), Rachel (knightsrachel), A.V. Geiger (adam_and_jane), Gaby Cabezut (gabycabezut), Shaun Allan (ShaunAllan), Noelle (hepburnettes), Claudia Tan (claudiaoverhere) and… wait for it …Yours truly! (BrandonWong048)Before this post gets dismissed an advertisement, let me just say that talent is not defined by popularity. While all the names that I have listed above are extremely talented individuals (myself not included), there are many talented writers on Wattpad are still undiscovered. That is due to the fact that Wattpad is home to thousands upon thousands of writers, with millions of stories in circulation. My advice for you? Take your time searching for the next undiscovered talent. It is fun watching their careers take off. Better yet, be that undiscovered talent. Take some time, practice, and write that popular novel. If writing isn’t your thing and you just want a good read, try The Wattys 2016 - Wattpad winners. You won’t be disappointed. If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to reach me at bwong1202@gmail.com. I will be happy to respond.

How do you get popular on wattpad?

I want to say "write well", but unfortunately, on Wattpad that's generally not the case. Don't get me wrong, there are some good writers on there - but they're often unread. Wattpad stories are basically all the same: something about depression/angst, self-inserts, beautiful MCs, love triangles - hell, half the time the writer hasn't even PLANNED the story at all, and literally just makes it up as they go along (which usually makes the plot meandering and pointless). All the good stories I've found on there - stories with a bit of meat on them, rather than cliche themes - seem to have rather low reads. (Again, that being said, some of them are popular - but they're still drowning in run-of-the-mill 1D fanfics -_-)

On that site, popularity generally comes through networking rather than talent. Hence the reason why Wattpad doesn't exactly have a reputation for being home to good writers - "critique" generally consists of "OMG this is great, read mine?" rather than anything useful.

The answer, basically, is networking. Spamming "read mine plz" would do the trick...

EDIT: Scarlett is exhibit A.

How to get more reads on Wattpad?

Why should it matter about how many reads you have on Wattpad? Why are you even writing fiction in the first place if all you care about is being popular? Write because you enjoy it, not because you want internet popularity. In the real world of writing and publishing, nobody cares about internet sites like these anyway so I wouldn't worry.

Let's face it, if you were submitting a query letter to an agent they aren't exactly going to give a toss about how many reads you have on Twatpad, nor whether thousands of whiny preteen girls on the internet give you good reviews.

And if you say that when you 'get published' no one will read your stories, for a matter of fact this is irrelevant. It takes anything from at least 20 years to get to even a remotely publishable standard, and even then the chances are pretty slim.

At the end of the day, all of the people who write that illiterate drivel on Twatpad about vampire/werewolf teenage love triangles, with an abundance of basic grammar mistakes, are never going to make it in the real world. They may have a million views on their crappy Twilight/Hunger Games knock-off, but in reality they have zero chance of making it anywhere in the real world. Ever.

How to become popular on Wattpad?

I hope you are writing for some purpose beyond popularity...

Do what so many do on wattpad,

1.take the most popular stories in each section, and re-write them
2. do glowing reviews of everyone who comments on your "work"
3. bask in glory of internet praise for a few weeks
4. deny all claims of plagarism *you had this story sitting on your comp for years!!*
5. Sick your fans on the other author and villify them as racists, liars, haters, and bigots and bullies!!
6. Finally get called out on all your other stories being hack jobs
7. delete all your stories
8. make new user
9. GOTO #1.

Question about The Watty Awards on Wattpad?

It is basically just a contest in which you can enter your book into and see how popular it is and there are prizes if you quialify 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in any category, there are many kinds of rating like categories and best cover, best male character and so on, the overally prize is most popular which is a whopping $1000 prize, the current winner is Cold_Lady19 who won with her book "my wattpad love" you are allowed to enter a maximum of two books and I highly reccomend it, it will be worth if you qualify, there's no shame in trying:)

What do you think of Wattpad?

READERS:It's an AMAZING platform for readers. There are a variety of books to read. However, books are not proofread, so it's quite difficult to find a book without many grammatical errors. Also, most of the popular books are extremely cliche. If you find a popular book, it probably has some bad boy, vampire, or werewolf. The best place to find good books to read is the Featured Novels. You can never go wrong there!WRITERS:It's a good platform. I used to write books, but didn't know where to share it. With wattpad, I was able to create an identity of my own. But Wattpad popularity heavily depends on your plot, the grammar/writing, and LUCK. Do cliche, write it well, and you're sure to become popular. It's very difficult to get noticed. There are millions of books out there, and unless you specifically ask a person to read your book, there's a lot of possibility that person would never have come across it otherwise. More than often, I find myself putting in much more effort than the results I'm getting, but ultimately, you should write for yourself.Overall, I'm really grateful for a website like Wattpad. It's amazing.
