What Are My Chances Of Transferring To University Of California Berkeley

Transferring into University of California at Berkeley?

This fall I will be attending the University of North Texas (2012 - 2013), but I look to transfer into the University of California Berkeley, or University of California San Francisco. I plan to major in Biology how hard it is to get into the Biology program at either of those schools. I know Berkeley is a very prestigious school, but I do feel I have some characteristics that make me stand out. (I am an Eagle Scout, have 3.9/4.0 GPA, and have many volunteer hours) With that being said do you think I have a decent shot at getting in?

I also was wondering when I need to send in my transfer. And also can I send in a transfer request my freshman year or do I have to complete a full year before I can transfer?

(Anyways thank you for your help, I'm just really frenetic too say the least)

Please chance me for transferring to UC Berkeley :)?

Can I transfer to UC Berkeley or UCLA from Santa Clara University?

I am a senior in highschool. My goal is to attend either UC Berkeley or UCLA. Because I am out of state my chance for admission with a hs. GPA of 3.6 and an SAT score of 2050 is slim to none. However, I am very qualified for Santa Clara University. If my dream is attend either UC Berkeley or UCLA would be the best approach in terms of transferring. I've researched that UC Berkeley admits 1/3 of all transfer students but much less in terms of non-california residents. If I achieved a 3.5+ gpa in college, would being at Santa Clara provide an advantage because it is in-state? Or would I have to establish residence in California in order to gain a better chance of admission while at SCU?
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Transferring from the U.S. Naval Academy to UC Berkeley?

Whether one may be admitted to UC Berkeley with a GPA of 2.5 is difficult to predict. The University of California at Berkeley does not publish the GPA of their newly admitted first year students like other universities do among my sources. One also does not give much information on your writing, community service, high school education, or extracurricular activities in high school.

I would suggest one carry out the plans that you have. Take only the courses at the community college level that will transfer to a university. Some community colleges have programs that will cover the first two years of college and they should transfer into California colleges and universities. The last idea for you is that if you must be in California to study at college. Pick two other California State Universities as back-up to Berkeley. SF State, San Jose State, or Hayward State are the closest State Universities to Berkeley. Good luck.

Is it possible to transfer from Drexel University to MIT , Berkeley , Caltech, Stanford after Freshman year ?

No to Berkeley. Berkeley is already overwhelmed by junior applicants from community college and these students actually NEED to transfer in order to complete a bachelors degree. You just want to transfer but you technically don't need to because Drexel does grant bachelor degrees. MIT, Caltech and Stanford are extremely hard to transfer into, so prepare yourself for that possiblity of not getting in. MIT will say that you are eligible to apply if you have completed less than 2.5 academic terms, but more than 1. For Caltech, in fall 2013 (its the only term that Caltech considers transfer applicants) 161 applied, only 6 were admitted. At stanford, their website says that transfer admit rate in recent years have ranged from 1 to 4 percent.

Better prepare your mind for the reality that you might not get any consideration for these schools. You can be the best candidate and still be average to the 3 private schools. There is pretty much no chance at Berkeley.

What are my chances for UC Berkeley as a transfer student for Fall 2008?

I suspect with that GPA its not good - Berkeley is tough.

But don't worry about it too much - all the UC's are good. And while Berkeley has a great reputation for its undergrad it has perhaps and even better reputation for post grad. So going to Berkeley for post-grad is perhaps an even better option. Since schools usually recommend you do post-grad elsewhere if you did undergrad at Berkeley you may not be allowed to do post-grad there.

See if you can get admitted to an honors program. Professors usually get to know students better in such programs which will be a help in getting admitted to Berkeley for post grad.

Thanks
Bill

What are the chances of transferring from CS to EECS at UC Berkeley during the first year?

0% because the university recently stopped allowing students from the College of Letters & Sciences to transfer to the EECS major. That being said, there wouldn’t really be much of a reason to transfer to the EECS major from CS in the first place. You can take the exact same courses as a CS major and the career prospects are the same.

Transferring from UC Davis to UCLA/UC Berkeley?

I'm currently a freshman at UC Davis, majoring in History but I would like to explore the possibility of transferring from Davis to UCLA or Berkeley as a junior.

I'm inquiring if that would be possible (I know UC to UC transfer rates are low, I'm concerned with technicalities) and if so, what classes I would have to take in the major or other pre-req classes needed to make a successful transfer. Please be as detailed as possible.

Note, I'm trying to find expert or insider information regarding this but any other answers are much appreciated.

Ivy Tech transfer to UC Berkeley?

No one can transfer to any UC until they have completed sixty semester credits or ninety quarter hours of required classes.

The Haas (l.c) School of Business only admits undergraduates at the start of the junior year and only admits students who have completed the above mentioned credits at Berkeley.

All MBA programs require a bachelor's degree for enrollment.

If you earn your bachelor's degree at Haas, your chances for admission to its MBA program are probably lower than if you had earned the bachelor's degree at another university.

Save tens of thousands of dollars by earning your bachelor's degree at a public university in Indiana.
It is not worthwhile to pay undergraduate out of state tuition.

The Haas MBA program is so competitive for admission that you should not set your heart on it.
Your chances of admission to it will be greatly increased if you have had at least two years of post-bachelor's full time responsible paid business experience when you apply.
