What Are Some Great Comedic Monologues For College Auditions

What are some great comedic monologues for college auditions?

I am going to be auditioning my college's theater department soon and I think I have found my dramatic monologue, but I lack the comedic one. It needs to be a female monologue between the ages of 16-23ish (give or take) and cannot be Shakespearian. Any advice would be helpful!

Best audition monologues for college auditions?

I need two audition monologues, one dramatic and the other can be anything (comedic, dramatic, etc). I'm a 19 year old female looking to transfer to an acting school. Thank you!

What is a great classical monologue to audition with for college auditions?

Kudos to the answer below; I would contribute one specific suggestion. Select something that fits the character/show that you are auditioning for, and one that is not frequently used. Professors and directors in these roles have heard the standard auditions for Romeo, Juliet, Hamlet, Lady Macbeth, Lady Bracknell and Oedipus a thousand times each. If you are auditioning for a Shakespeare play, look at Coriolanus or Love’s Labour’s Lost for that monologue that demonstrates your skills. If your view of ‘classical’ is not equivalent with mine (pre-20th century), the same principle as above applies; find an equivalent play/piece that shows your skills while avoiding well known shows like The Crucible or The Glass Menagerie. Break a leg!

What are some great dramatic (male) monologues for an audition?

There are a couple of great monologues that you can find here: Male Monologues. In general, however, you should have a couple up your sleeve, the reason being that a monologue you perform during an audition should come from a story and/or character that is similar to the part you are going up for. This will give the CD an idea of how you would perform that type of role.

Comedic Monologues for Leading Man?

Hey, I have a college theater audition upcoming and I'm having difficulty finding a great contemporary comedic monologue that fits my castable type and complements my Claudio monologue from Measure for Measure.

I'm 6"2 and 180 lbs, athletic build
I have thick dark wavy hair and chocolate eyes
Im 17 but I look like I'm in my twenties
I'm a handsome white guy

I need a monologue from a theatrical performance, preferably in the comedic vain of Cary Grant. Any nods in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you

Dramatic female contemporary monologue for College Audition?

I'm preparing for an audition for my school's audition, and I'm having trouble finding my second monologue. It needs to be from a current play though (past 30 years). I usually play the "ingenue," innocent type girl. I've been looking for weeks, but I'm not having any luck. Any ideas? Thanks so much!

Are there any good female monologues for auditions that are not about love?

Mara, there are many non-romantic monologues that are available to you, but the key point is what kind of play are you auditioning for? Is it a classic (Shakespeare), drama or comedy? If classical, I would suggest Lady Macbeth for a few good potentials. One modern drama potential that I can think of would be from Albee’s ‘Three Tall Women’, or Tom Topor’s ‘Nuts’ has a few good pieces. There are so many comic pieces that I’ll leave you to it. The key point is to make the piece you choose match up with the role you want, emotionally or spiritually - then put in the work and break a leg!
