This asked been asked to death so this is my answer for a similar question: Marilyn was one of the first women to be overtly sexual and play sweet, naive, and innocent characters at the same time. Prior to the 50's, the bulk of feminine film characters were comprised of vampy brunettes like Theda Bara, or innocent blondes. Marilyn broke this barrier, and this can also be seen as a feminist achievement because she helped to break down the age old Madonna/Whore complex that was characterised by the puritanical 1950's. By becoming a sex symbol within mainstream acceptance and therefore making film and society more permissive of sex, Marilyn in part allowed women today the sexual freedoms they enjoy (she was the first Playboy centrefold, although she didn't pose for the magazine). This in particular is a feminist victory as it has always been primarily women who have benefitted from the sex industry and who can carve out careers based on sex, compared to the few men who are able to support themselves financially by doing the same. Marilyn was also one of the first women to challenge her studio on the basis of artistic rights (she wanted more varied roles) and after leaving Hollywood at the peak of her career in 1955, she was the first woman to set up her own production company, which helped in the break down of the rigid studio system. Marilyn helped give Ella Fitzgerald her big career break by making a deal with owners of the popular white clubs who disallowed black singers from entertaining, to let Ella sing if Marilyn would attend the concerts. This is really more of a racial than feminist achievement though.

I agree with what most of the others here have already said, especially Thunder's comment about Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. Those generational planets create a strong allure when they are in conjunction to other planets within a person's chart, and especially so with a conjunction to the Ascendant. These people somehow seem exciting, powerful and glamorous, and they have a presence about them which can translate to magnetic attraction on a larger level to the general public. A transit which may act as a catalyst is when one of these generational planets forms a conjunction or other significant aspect with other planets within the chart. In Newman's chart, Pluto is in opposition to his Ascendant. Interestingly, Pluto is now almost conjunct his Ascendant. At the height of his fame and career activity, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto were slowly progressing across his midheaven and 10th house.
