Hardest Drums in Metal songs?

Can you give me some songs that have some really tricky or fast double bass patterns? Odd time signatures? Thanks. I'm thinking along the lines of Bleed - Meshuggah, Stengah - Meshuggah, or Becoming - Pantera ......

Are playing the drums challenging?

No, playing the drums is fun. Playing the drums is exciting. Playing the drums is what makes life so amazing.Learning how to play the drums is challenging.finding the coordination to do four different things with your arms and legs, (five, if you also sing) and maintain rhythm and tempo, and still advance your own musical ideas and story.Finding out that maybe, just maybe the drums aren't the instrument for you, can be challenging. Some people, find out that they don't have the coordination. Or the discipline,or the love, to play drums.Playing drums can create challenging situations. You are one of the most essential members of a modern band. Singers, guitar players, horn players, and keyboard players may start a band and their name may go on the marquee, but everyone knows that its really the drummers band. Particularly the rhythm section. Holding some over sized egos together so that the show can go on, can be extremely challenging.Playing the drums? Is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

What are some good drum songs like "adam's song" by blink-182?

Hey man. I think travis' more impressive songs are 'down', 'feelin it', 'always' and adams song.
For other good punk drumming try AFI, Rancid or anythin by Zebrahead.

but if u want to try something more challenging i think the most technically gifted drummers are:

Avenged Sevenfold (the rev)
Tool (Carey)
Deftones (Cunningham)

They are more metal than anything else tho. (You will need a good double pedal!)

P.S. Carey (Tool) is the hardest to cover. I cant touch him no matter how hard i practise!!

What are some fun songs to play drums to?

What are some fun songs to play drums to?Anything by Blondie, featuring the great Clem Burke, drummer extraordinaire…Here’s one example, “Dreaming”

What rock song has the most complex drumming to play?

It depends on how you define “rock”. It’s a pretty broad genre, but I’d say the genre with the most complex drumming might be fusion which has a lot of synchopated beats. There’s a great band called the Mahavishnu Orchestra. They were very psychedelic/experimental. The drummer I’m mainly thinking of is Billy Cobham who played on their first record which is the only one I listen to. He does a lot of fusion. You can check out a lot of his stuff. I know there’s also a genre of rock called “math rock” which has very complex drumming. One math rock band is don caballero. Also check out Tool and some Progressive Rock like the band Dream Theater. If you want to check out drumming that blew my mind, check out on youtube these videos called, “gospel chops”. I don’t know if I would call it rock drumming but it’s definitely the most complex drumming I’ve ever heard. These drummers do a lot of things where they do odd groupings of their fills. For example, lets say their fills are 16 notes long. The simplest way to play that would be to play 4/4/4/4 - four hits on four drums. What the gospel chops drummers do is they do uneven groupings that still equal 16 so they’re on beat. A gospel chops grouping would be - 5/7/4.

What are some great classic songs to drum along to?

Ethan Hein's list of James Brown tracks will keep you busy for months trying to emulate the grooves of Clyde Stubblefield and John Starks. When you encounter a hurdle and cannot decipher the ghost notes on the snare drum (this will most definitely happen) - you can refer to the book Funkmasters for transcriptions of the drum charts.  Find it on Amazon here: http://www.amazon.com/Funkmaster....Personally - I select songs to learn based on two factors: enjoyment of the style/artist and an obtainable unknown (a lick or groove I cannot play but is within close enough reach to make the exercise enjoyable).  Below are some different "classic" drum songs I have found worth learning for developing chops in different styles of music: Big-Band Funk (You like horn-driven music with lots of hits)Dave Garibaldi on What is Hip by Tower of PowerGordon Campbell on In the Stone by Earth, Wind and FireProgressive Rock (Challenging but good if you like highly-orchestrated songs) Bill Bruford on Heart of Sunrise by YesNeil Peart on Xanadu by RushFunk (Dirty with heavy grooves) Joseph Modeliste on Cissy Strut by the MetersYou Scared the Love Right Out of Me by Funkadelic
