She is signed to Universal, and all of her career is linked to Universal. This means that her image, like every other mainstream singer’s image, is made by Universal or another major label in order to target some public - in O’Connell’s case, probably a teenage public who listens to electronic pop with dark elements and similar things.She is just another mainstream pop singer portraying the image that the label and her managers ordered her to bear in order to gain profit and visibility, nothing else. Don’t make any assumption on her feelings or whatever else, you’ll never know anything about her apart from her public image and the money the label, managers etc. want to make with her.
