What Are The Best Products For The Loc Method

What are the best products for the loc method?

Now I don't really use the LOC method, but I believe it is less about what specific products your should use, but rather what TYPES of products you should use. What works for my hair texture may not work for you.
For your liquid, you can simply use water. Water is the ultimate moisturizer and very accessible. You can also use a leave in spray if you like.
For your oil, you can choose what suits you best. I prefer to use whole plant/fruit oils like olive oil, coconut oil, castor oil, grapeseed oil, almond oil, jojoba oil, etc. You can find a lot of these at your local grocery store, international store, or health food store.
For your cream, you can use whatever styling cream you like. Some examples are Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie, Curls Whipped Cream, Curls Milkshake, Cantu Shea Butter Leave in Conditioning Cream, Hollywood Beaty Carrot Oil Creme (I think that is the name), Shea butter, etc.
While I follow the main idea of this, I don't follow it to the letter. I usually shampoo my scalp, rinse it well, while still wet (not soaking wet), apply my conditoner focusing on the bottom half of my hair, twist it up, apply oil to my hair, then air dry.

I hope this helps.

What's the best way to lock super soft and curly hair?

I'm also an African American Male I had the same problem when i started my locs i have soft curly hair so it took a while for my hair to fully loc which is now 8 months.... the method i used is after i got it twisted double strand it would get twisted with loc butter and with queen helen gel. For me this holds the best after that i would get my locs sprayed with Spritz spray to hold it and i would sit under the dryer with the pins in my hair 15-20 minutes which was alot for me cuz im a dude i don't sit under dryers lol...anyway after that i would get my hair conrow just 4 braids then leave them in for a week or a week and half then take them out so they can breathe and wear my hair out for two weeks sometimes in a ponytail. Then repeat process......slowly my hair started to mat together and lock due to the braids holding the twist.........

Also another thing when starting out do not fully wash your hair with non residue shampoo ( which is the only shampoo you use when cleaning locs) instead in the begining use sea breeze to wash your locs its a leave in rinse shampoo....with this you just apply the sea breeze to scalp mix in like you regularly shampoo your hair then towel blot your hair don't rinse with water...... For the first 3 sessions of twisting do this then start washing it in shower or sink with a hair net and with no residue shampoo because by then it will have a little hold...

A few questions about dreadlocks?!?

Well there are several ways to do dreadlocks i suggest you research each one and find which method is right for you. Try Google and youtube and look up;

Back combing
Backcombing + Crochet hook (the method i recommend the most it is neat and realistically instant and can be washed within the first week of installation)
Latch hooking/Interlocking/Nappy locks tool (this method specifically creates slender soft braided branch type dreadlocks and is regularly used by african americans and curly haired people in general)

The method you pick will depend on how long you will be sitting there. But if i had to estimate and average time then 4-10 hours depending on how much hair you have, how many/thin you want your dreads.

Most methods are painless but you may feel some neck stiffness and slight scalp soreness just from all the touching and what not.

Most dreadlocks only need heavy matience around every 3 months or so depending on you hair texture the curlyer you hair is the longer you can go without heavy maintenance. Twisting, crocheting, latch hooking every time you get substantial new growth 2-3 inches.

When it comes to washing you HAVE to wash your dreads at least once a week preferably 2-3 times a week if you sweat a lot or live in a hot climate. Use low/non residue shampoo for at least the first 3 months and do not condition it with anything greasy but pure aloe vera gel is helpful and strengthens hair and tames frizz. Just make sure you rinse them completely and make sure they dry all the way before going to bed or putting them in a bun/braid with wet hair which can cause mildew/mold/and stench, you can use a hair dryer on medium heat to help. To freshen them up between times just re twist the roots with aloe and spray them with witch hazel.

Dreads grow at the same rate as regular hair. But you will see a length difference if you are not used to leaving your hair alone and letting it do its thing it will seem to grow longer faster. Although the process of making dreads like backcombing can shrink up the hair and make it appear shorter.

Oh and you do NOT have to shave your head to remove dreads, just soak them in deep conditioner over night and pick them out slowly from the bottom up, after that all you will need is a trim to even out the ends.

DREADLOCKS!! ALOE A GOOD THING??? HELP!!?

So I have read allot about dreadlocks but I still have some questions. I'm going to use the back combing method. I don't want to use wax, because to me that's not a real dread, the wax holds the hair together preventing it from knotting.

So the products I'm going to use are;

-Locking Accelerator -Dread Head HQ
-Dread Soap, completely residue free, unscented- Dread Head HQ
-Lock peppa -Dread Head HQ
-Dread Licious for smell- Dread Head HQ
-100% pure Aloe Vera Gel- WalMart

Now my questions are;
-Is aloe actually good for dreads? I have read that its good for the hair, it keeps breakage from happening. Will it prevent frizz like wax does?

-Should I actually use Lock Peppa? I know it attaches to the hair, and washes out when you wash your dreads. But it supposed to help tighten your roots, which I really am going to need help with because i have bone straight hair!!

Any other tips? I have 25 inches of hair, medium thickness, bone straight, layered hair (layers grown out for 5 months)

For those of you who think dreads are made with food products, or are dirty your wrong. Its just knots, and there's several methods. My method I will be washing my hair 1-3 times a week. The same amount normal hair should be washed. It's bad for your hair and scalp to be washed everyday!! Your hair and skin need the oils your head produces, and washing it out everyday causes dandruff and other gross problems!

I know not to wash your hair up to 2-4 weeks during the first month. But I will probably wash it after 2 weeks. Then once to twice a week the following months.
