There are a lot of differences, but I would tell you some simple ones to keep this answer from getting complicated…Friend is practically someone with whom you can spend time, and actually like it. Take for example, the classmates that give you company. Or some person who is more than just an acquaintance.Close friend is a step more than that. You start to look forward to the next day to meet them. These are friends, with whom you can share some secrets, who are frequent visitors at your home. For example, take the bench mate you sit with. You like to sit with them a lot, talk with them a lot, miss them when they don't come, but still there is a line, a difference between you.Now let's take “best friend”. Best friend and close friend have a lot in common. But the little differences are the ones that make best friend, a best one and close friend, just a close one. Best friend is some one with whom you can share every aspect of your life. Even your views. Mostly best friends are the people that you have most in common with. You don't actually have to care about what they think because they love you a lot and will never judge you. good question, Best Friend: Someone who will have your back no matter if you're right or wrong, but that person will also put u in your place when you step out of line, ride or die person, a person you will do anything for and the same goes for them, someone you can absolutly trust with your life and your heart and your secrets close friend: a person who will have your back to an extent, someone who you keep close but also at a distance. good friend is like an associate: someone you might talk to every once and a while, but you wont depend on them because you'll bond is'nt that strong.

A close friend will bail you out of jail. Your best friend will be sitting beside you in jail saying "man, that was awesome!" A close friend will help you move. Your best friend will help you move a body. But seriously, to me, my best friend knows everything about me. There is nothing I wouldn't tell her, no matter how bad it is, because I know that she won't ever judge me. She may kick my butt for being a moron, but at the end of the day she knows all the bad parts of me and loves me anyway. My close friends are 90% of what my besty is. They know *almost* everything about me, but I don't feel I could share the really deep and dark stuff without a bit of backlash. They are a big part of my life, but I don't share 100% of myself with them.

Not really sure about this, but best friend is similar to close friend, but the best friend is the one that you do everything with, talk to all the time, spend the most time with out of all your friends, you choose your best friend. A close friend is someone that you are close with and someone that you trust and someone that you spend a lot of time with. A good friend may be one that is there for you, but it doesn't mean that you are that close with them, it just means that you can count with them. A friend, is just that, any person that you consider to be a friend, but not an acquaintance. It just seems to all be a rank that you give people.

Actually, they are one in the same to me, just a different way of saying it. Closet friend means a little more "homey" or "warmer" way of saying it, to me.
