What are the similarities between teaching and learning?

Teaching keeps the teachers up to date with the learning, while learning keeps the students up to date with the teaching. In both cases you end up knowing more and understanding more. Both teaching and learning need analytic functioning of brain. When we teach Students, we also learn those things more vividly.Let us see the teaching - learning model.Source - http://www.edpsycinteractive.org... .It clearly shows how learning and teaching impact each other directly and indirectly.

What's the similarities and (obvious) differences between gangs and cops?

Police officers are employees of the state, city, or county and make their money in that manner.   They are normally salaried and are paid overtime and have various sorts of benefits as you may expect. They are normally issued uniforms and equipment and receive a great deal of formal training for the performance of their duties.Gangs are self-sustaining and make money normally by criminal enterprise.   Selling drugs or committing other crimes.    They are not employed other than the fact that individual members may have jobs outside of the gang. Both groups are "heirarchical"  (as are most all human organizations) but police departments have a formalized chain of command, a promotional process... That sort of thing.Gangs have a heirarchy as well but it's informal and the leaders are so by reason of charisma or power or the formation of a clique or power-center within the gang.Gangs can, to some degree, function as de-facto enforcement organizations in a particular community.   Their activities may provide income for the area generally, as small stores, markets, services and such are kept functioning by the generation of income by the gangs..... I listened to a study which showed that during the worst of the "rust belt" period in greater Detroit, it was the illegal drug trade that moved millions of dollars annually through the area, keeping "mom and pop" stores, barbers, hairdressers, video-store owners, and the like functioning.

What are the most important differences between Bruner and Piaget?

Piaget was a unilateral stage theorist who put specific age groups on each stage children go through until they potentially reach formal operation. It was a pretty rigid deterministic theoryHowever Bruner's theory had a little more lee-way. It was somewhat cyclical and was a process that children and people go through when experiencing new phenomena. For example, if a 35 year old man had never seen or felt sand, he would still go through all of Bruner's stages. He also agreed with Vygotsky in that language can help the development of understanding, especially with regards to the symbolic stage. It's been a while since I looked in depth at these theories but they were the key differences I remember. In sum: Piaget: deterministic, unilateral, no care for language. Bruner: more flexible, cyclical, and cares for language.

Why is a Bunsen burner flame hotter than a candle flame?

it's the difference bewteen burning pure propane and a mixture of hydrocarbons that are in wax. in most cases, this is parafin, depending upon the type of candle. there is also bees wax, soy wax, tallow, etc.
in a bunsen burner, one can regulate the amount of oxygen getting to the flame. in doing so, we can make the flame of a bunsen burner turn blue to almost clear, this is the hottest flame. burning parafin is incomplete combustion in that it produces C (soot) and CO. the flame is also yellow, a colder version of a flame

Can someone please tell me what the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis is?

Sapir-Whorf hypothesis states that people have a set pattern in the way that they think(or understand the world) based off of the language that they speak. For example, Laplanders and Eskimos have many names for snow because they live with a lot of it and this affects the way they think. Compared to someone from the U.S where we only have a handful of name such as snow, sleet, etc.
