Good clean Sci-Fi/Fantasy shows, books, movies?
Clean? You mean for pre-teens? Stories that ignore love and concentrate on what, violence?? Its a really really old series, and I am not sure someone of your generation will relate because it was written before computers and electronics but the Lensman series by E.E. (Doc) Smith is definitely clean. He also wrote a series about the Skylark of Space (semiclean ?) and Doc Savage (clean) Piers Anthony. None of these are "modern" anymore. Most modern Sci-Fi literature has some sort of sex scene. A lot of them seem to have been required by the editor since they are totally out of place and disrupt the pace of the book. Here is a "best of" list - there are probably a hundred more that should be here. A + sign indicates a series. Ones I definitely think are "clean" I will ☺. (Frankly I can't remember for most of them. The older a book is, the more likely it is to be clean.) The ALA (or some library association) has a list of those books suitable for the young teen. You should cross check with them. Is Smallville Sci-Fi or Fantasy?
Both are generally found in the same grouping when you are at the bookstore, video rental, or (blah)convention. SCIence-FIction is generallly considered to be futuristic and will focus on using mechanical devices to make amazing things happen beyond what humans are capable of performing now. We consider aliens, computers, gadgets, weapons, suits, ships to be the core to the settings of these shows. Fantasy is not generalized to any time in history and focuses on explaining amazing feats or bizarre non-humans through magical explanations. So, a talking centaur, elf, or dragon is common and using spells, gems, rings, swords are how people make magic happen. Smallville focuses on the comics based on Superman, who is a being from another planet. Aside from this fact, and some items/people from his world, we see Earth as it is now. My original thought would be to place this show in Fantasy, but now I think it is more of a blend with a bias toward Sci-Fi because of the alien world aspect.
