What Bills Will I Be Paying At 18

Can my mom make me pay for medical bills at 17?

Car insurance yes. Driving a car is considered non-essential.

Medical bills are the responsibility of the parent until 18. Now, can she get into a bank account with your name on it to get funds out to pay it, yes, but legally she is responsible for the next 4 months.

Should I keep paying my Mom's bills?

I'm only 18 , I work at mcdonalds. Every job I've had I've always have to pay my mama's bills , she's had job offers but don't wanna work cause she doesn't like nursing home so she doesn't want to , now school is coming up and I have to pay her car note and get my brother's hair cut. Then i had to pay the deposit for our apartment, put gas in the car, money to put on the lights, almost everything I can't even start my senior year cause I won't have the money to even get my hair done. She has taken all my checks really I can't even pay my phone bill ! She work for the school also but they don't get paid until the 30th in Sept . Should I keep paying for everything , cause every time I want to get something for myself she says I'm being selfish , I'm tried of giving her all my checks , I want a little money to do stuff, I don't even know when I can start school !

Do you think people under the age of 18 should pay rent and bills if they have a casual job?

I don’t think affluent parents should charge their kids (under 18) rent. I do think it would be fair to ask them to use their money to buy some of their clothing, like if they want designer clothes and the parents only wanted to buy them serviceable clothes; the child can pay the difference. A similar principle could apply for electronics, such as if the kid wants the latest $1,000 iPhone instead of an old model on sale. That’s a good way to teach the value and empowerment that comes from working for what you want, and shutting down whining because now the child is making decisions about their own priorities, with their own money.I think if the parents are poor, the situation is different. If the parent(s) are doing everything they can to pay the bills, but have low skills, someone in the family with health issues, etcetera, they may really need their kids’ contributions in order to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table. If you’re a parent in that situation, I suggest you explain the reason to your children, so they understand you aren’t just being mean and really need their help. If you’re a child and you’re not sure about the situation, I suggest you ask your parents. They might not tell you if finances are tight because they don’t want to worry you, but if you’re adult enough to help pay the bills, you’re adult enough to ask whether the family is in financial trouble. Ask in a mature, non confrontational way, and you’re more likely to get a straight answer.

How GST in India will impact my credit card bill?

No effect of GST on your credit card bill if you are paying the dues on time and in full. It will appear to the bill when you make a late payment. So when the credit card companies issue the statement, there will be finance charges on the same, involving 18% Goods and Services Tax (GST).The GST will also be applied to the bills of those paying the minimum due, which is calculated at about 5% of the outstanding balance in a billing cycle.Since the credit is getting revolved with minimum due payment, the concerned lender will charge interest at the rate as prescribed. Over the interest amount, there will be 18% GST.It may seem affordable to pay minimum due but can so easily push you into a never-ending debt trap. Level of responsibility for 17 year old regarding paying bills?

Well, seems to me you are in a serious predicament. In my own experience, as the oldest sib in my family, I need to be as hands-off, not on any ones radar, let the parent do the "parent" stuff as I can when it comes to my siblings life. They grew up seeing me as someone who "always tells me what to do". Which is true to some extent. Does "go watch your brother/sister" ring any bells? So that's why I said you seem to be in a serious predicament. Your siblings are going to fight you on this and yet it is so important that someone pick up the slack- or the bills won't get paid, etc. and then everyone will be in trouble. But what to do? How to get the sibs on your side and contributing so that you all have shelter and utilities?? One thing to remember is that when it hurts enough people will start to pay attention to solutions to ease the pain. By that I mean, maybe if the lights and gas and water all get shut off (remember, you have found alternative solutions for your self) then your sibs may feel more compelled to chip in- even the 17 year old! If the older two sibs don't get their act together than I think a front yard full of their stuff is the wake up call they might need; but that's just me! Maybe you have more patience than I do :)

Parents put bills in my name after i turned 18?

I still live with my parents, and they have put multiple bills in my name, and stopped paying them, AFTER i turned 18. Since I wasn't a minor when they did this, I know it's not as easy to fix. Is there anything I can do without filing the police report? If i pay the debts off myself would it help some?

Can kids do their part in order to help pay the parents' bills?

It depends on what you mean by "their part". Are you talking legally or are you talking are is this theoretically possible?   Kids should play a part in helping out in the family. They shouldn't have to shoulder a parents burden however. We make our kids do chores and believe that there are principles of "success therapy" that would indicate that it is very good for kids to feel included in being able to help out. But unless they are child actors and they want to be child actors or maybe they are olympic athletes and the parents are the kids managers and thus can't earn their own living, I would say kids shouldn't ever be placed with the financial burden of the family except in cases of absolute poverty in a non first world country. In those cases I won't judge what families have to do to survive.

I'm 18 years old, pay no bills, and make 30k a year. What's the best way to make 1 million by 20-22?

Mathematically you can’t get there from where you are without acquiring additional income. Even then, it is highly unlikely. Why? Because you would have to engage in a high amount of risk to make it happen. The higher the risk, the less likely the outcome you desire because the odds are stacked against you.In addition, I would assume you are going to take on responsibility for your own living expenses somewhere in this time period. Making 30K a year and having someone else pay your expenses when you are out of high school is not a grown-up or responsible thing to do. You need to be responsible for you. That means looking at your future from a practical perspective and taking a realistic look at what you can accomplish from your own efforts and with your own money, minus expenses. The path to quick wealth is littered with failures because it is full of scams, get rich quick schemes and charlatans who don’t know what they are doing so they take unreasonable and unfounded risks.Get smart. Learn some skills. Invest in yourself. Save while you are doing this so you protect your future options.

I'm 18 and my parents want me pay rent for living in my own house, Is this fair?

o wow that's harsh. as parents, they should be happy that you're furthering your education. i have lived at my house and commuted to school for 2 years and my parents never pushed me to pay them anything except for my cell phone and my car insurance. i save most of my paychecks for tuition but they help a little with that also. tell them that you're saving for your education and saving to afford a place of your own. living on your own is expensive even if you live with roomates. tell them your plan for your future and how by living at home is helping you save money for your future. i hope this helps. that's a tough situation
