What Branch Of Military Is The Best To Go Into And Why

What is the best U.S military branch for snipers?

I have always wanted to be a sniper, and am going into the military for a career, and I've been torn between the army an the air force (but I didn't realize being a sniper in the Air Force was an option until today) and upon hearing this, my old dream was once again ignited, but Iv heard from a recruiter that the current president is planning on cutting the GI bill out and lowering the tuition for people who join, and it made me wonder whitch branch would be best to go into for a sniper. Granted, I know I have to be a good shot, and that I need to practice and it uses math a lot, but. Everyone tells you to chase your dreams, and this is mine. I'd like a little help though. I've heard the air force treats u better than the army, but I'm not for sure. Any opinions?

What military branch would be the best to join?

Well if you want to travel to different ports, but be at sea 98% of the time then go Navy. Air force you can do a good bit of traveling but they pick your job pretty much for you. As for the army you could travel and pick the job you want and that will be the job you get. If you don't want a combat job don't pick it. As for the marines I am not real sure how it works for them. Call a recruiter and just ask them. If you don't want them hasseling you leave them a fake name and #.

What is the safest branch in the U.S Military?

No definitive answer. You could go by historical losses, but it really depends on what war and what kind of war.The Army has lots of frontline combat troops, which generally is more dangerous than rear support troops. The Army has taken the most casualties historically, but then they are historically the largest force. The Marines have lots of frontline combat troops, again generally more dangerous, and a higher percentage of ‘tooth to tail’, every man a rifleman attitude, and an aggressive warrior ethos. But a smaller force. The Navy has been in a lot of combatting, but all and all, been pretty good at not getting shot at since WW2. A lot of the things the navy does can be dangerous, as recent mistakes have born out. Still and all, in conflicts short of all out war, safer. The Air Force has the smallest pointed edge, with most of its troop supporting a sharp forward edge. In most conflicts, many will not be shot at, and conduct their missions at home or forward bases. That all being said, if a all out war were to occur, than no rear area may be safe.

Which branch of the US military is the best funded?

My purely anecdotal answer:When driving around on an Army post, the word that comes to mind is utilitarian. The buildings were designed to be shelter. Nothing more, nothing less. The landscaping appears to be maintained by a bunch of juvenile delinquents, which is pretty close to reality (article 15 extra duty). This applies, not only to the Soldier side of post, but also to the MWR (Morale, Welfare, and Recreation) and dependant family facilities. Twice in my career, I've worked out of facilities that had been condemned by the Air Force, but appropriated for Army use. When driving around an Air Force base, you feel like you're on a college campus. The shrubbery is neat and carefully arranged with blossoming flowers. The buildings are designed to look magestic, calling back to the wild blue yonder their hearts are set on. Again, this isn't just for the Airmen, but is reflected throughout the MWR and family facilities. When I first noticed the difference, I was a teenaged dependant of my Army dad. The joke he told me still rings true as I compare Ramstein AFB with Sembach (abandoned by the AF, and occupied by the Army), or Mcchord AFB with Ft. Lewis:When Congress hands out the military budget, the Army spends all of its money on tanks and guns. When it goes back to beg for more funds to upgrade housing facilities or improve MWR services, Congress says “No. We can't afford that.”When the Airforce gets its money, they spend it all on quality of life improvements. When they run out, they go to Congress and beg for more funding to pay for their planes and runways. Congress says “Of course. We can't afford to have our planes fall out of the sky!”Photo credit: Google image search.

Which military branch is best for families?

Each branch as pros and cons. Every family has different desires. I would suggest going to talk to all four of the local recruiters. You might not be eligible to go into a certain branch ( they have various criteria) so that would automatically narrow down the choices. It is a GREAT option (any branch) for families. Medical and dental coverage is outstanding. Benefits like life insurance, commissaries, and cost of living adjustments are awesome. There are wonderful resources for military families, from counseling, to how to budget for babies, to GREAT home loan options thru the VA. We live really, really, well and have four children. We are not hurting for anything. HOWEVER, we also spend a lot (and I mean a lot) of time apart, and we move often, far from family and friends. Your spouse needs to be ok with a tremendous quantity of time apart, putting her as a solo parent a bit of the time, and possibly apart from family or current supportive people in her life. You have the danger element covered I would assume, as you were a D. Sheriff...some spouses would have a hard time with the current trend of military deployed to the war zones. You will run across some people who have never moved or not often moved while in the military, and that don't deploy. That in my view is not the common route of military personnel.

We are partial to the Marine Corps. It has served our family well. The deployments are generally shorter than some other branches (not always, but generally by several months from my experience) and the branch is smaller, giving you a smaller community of peers. And of course there is the "Few, The Proud, The Marines...thing....

Also, in the Marine Corps they are going to more civil service for the MP's...you might want to look into that option...I have no idea the criteria, just that they are changing over to that. You might could google that. I know that the Army also uses "public" employees for some of it's security.

And bravo for wanting to do what it takes to be a good provider for your family...that is to be commended!

God's speed in your search.

What’s the best military branch for females?

First my quals.I have trained several females in 2 separate combat arms. (Army and Combat Engineers). I got along well with them (NOT that well. I was married, and loyal)One of them LEFT HER WEDDING to attend my departure from the Reserves.I worked on an ‘Air Force’ base for 5 years. My daughter was in the army reserve for 5 years.I would go with the Air Force. Navy sucks. Months away while ‘hot bunking’ with somebody you may or may not like.Army is brutal. Some women eat that up. (The last time I was with the Regular Force, the best sapper in the Troop was a female.)There is a problem with ‘pulling their weight’. Lots of them make it, but they have to work harder to do it. It’s not fair, but it’s not like they have a lighter rifle for you. Also, most Western armies, including the CF have recorded a lot of sexual harassment in the Army. I suspect a lot of it is because the Army is always in the middle of nowhere. Supervision is harder when stuff can happen on the other side of the tent and you won’t know. They don’t get stuck out as long as the Navy, but they spend a lot of time away from home. However, the group I saw with the largest female representation was the ‘Air Force’. The women there are not ‘breaking ground’. They are doing their job is well lit offices and hangars. While they do have to do foreign postings, these aren’t as austere as the army (less stress for your family at home) and on base, most nights you get to go home. Still a sexist world. Women make better mothers than men.And most jobs in the army can be found in the Navy. You want EOD, Ammo tech isn’t far off. Army mechanics work on trucks. AF fix planes. 2 of my sappers went Officer, on the Blue side of the Engineer family.

What branch of military is best if you want to travel?

I am a Junior in high school and have decided I want to join the military in order to travel. Which branch is more likely to travel to Asian countries? My dad was in the army and we just came from Germany, but how is it with the navy, marines, and airforce? And what would the best position in those branches be for a higher chance of travelling *with decent pay? I'm aware there are chances that I might not travel at all if I join. Or if not the military, what is a decent/high paying job where I get to travel to Asia?

What military branch is the best to join for nursing?
