What does the grey tick on Facebook Messenger mean?
If you're speaking about the check marks in Facebook Messenger, they exist only in Facebook Messenger. By that I mean, the grey check mark is used in the FB Messenger app to indicate you've sent a message. Once that message has been delivered turns to blue, and once read, it changes to a photo of the person you've sent it to. Now, that only applies if you've sent it to another person who also happens to be using the FB Messenger app. If they're only reading messages while logged into the desktop website the same doesn't apply. You'll see the grey check mark, or tick you speak of, until the recipient logs in again, at which time it will say "Sent" and (I think" "Read", showing the time your message was read. I'm slightly unsure about the last part because FB changes it all the time. The rest I'm confident about, though. :)

Messenger "9" 1st version was in Beta (testing) form. The newest version is not, But it's not working well either. Stick to 8.1 until they work out the Bugs. Including people using 8.1 trying to message ones with 9 or reverse they are having compatibility problems; like text not showing,pictures not showing. It shuts down on Vista users , not allowing people to log in.Web cams do not always work. Many things do not work or are missing that YM 8.1 has. If you sent the message before they blocked you, yes — you will see a coloured tick in a white circle. If it was also delivered before they blocked you, that circle’s background will be the colour of your chat.On the other hand, if you attempt to send a message after you have been blocked, it will not send — you will receive an error telling you that the person is unavailable at the moment.
