What Did Ant Helen Do To Charlie Perks Of Being A Wallflower

In 'Perks of Being a Wallflower' why does Charlie love Aunt Helen?

It is gathered around the end of the novel that Aunt Helen molested Charlie. Thus, continuing to read won't give you any answers :) On the other hand, perhaps a second read might.

But you see, Charlie's blocked out those memories. His conscious can not yet face these distressing memories, so his subconscious tucks them away and lets forward other, significantly more pleasing ones.

You might also notice that in certain parts, he refers to her with an uppercase A, and in others with lowercase. I theorize this has to do with her psychotic phases and hence with Charlie's flipping perceptions of her.

In "The Perks of Being A Wallflower" Aunt Helen molests Charlie but?

Sometimes when a child is molested, they don't fully understand the enormity of the situation. Charlie still loves her because he doesn't know how else to treat her. Additionally, he has blocked this memory out until the breakdown at the end. His parents do find out about what has happened to him, yes.
I don't think that his brother and sister already know of this, though.
I love this book so much... I fall in love with Charlie every time I read it!

The Perks Of A Wallflower?! Does aunt Helen Molest Charlie?

That was such a great book, It's so great I don't even know where to begin praising it. It truly shows the horrors of mental disease and what it can do to a person. It was an amazing book, one of my favorite books I've ever read. There's so much to say about this book but I'm too tired to say it all lol. I hope you liked the book a lot, it would be cool to talk about it more.

Also yes Aunt Helen did molest Charlie. The book can be a little confusing but she did molest them. He suppressed the memories of her molesting him until he realized at the end. The reason I think he feels so attached to her is because when someone is abused they can get confused about their emotions towards the other person. Charlie felt emotion when she molested him but he was confused about which emotions he felt. Hope I helped and message me if you want to ask anything else.

"I feel infinite."

The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012 movie): Did Charlie wanted Aunt helen to be dead?

Thank you for the A2A.I have read the book and watched the movie, and I don't feel that he wished her to be dead, at least not initially. I too think that  he felt guilt about the incident in his childhood rather than abused. He loved his aunt, and felt responsible for her death.  Such feelings are a toll on most adult heads, think about Charlie who was just a child then. My guess is that even  as a teenager up until he met Sam, he didn't feel abused by his Aunt, and still harbored immense love for her. Only when he realizes that Sam too likes him, maybe even loves him,  does  he recall his childhood incidents as the horrific happenings that they were. I feel that up until Sam's acceptance of Charlie, he felt that the only human who truly loved him was his Aunt Helen and that's why he repressed the memory of his abuse, as already having lost her he didn't want to tarnish her memory. Once he realizes that someone apart from Helen possibly loves him, he realizes that maybe even as a child, his subconscious mind understood the truth and wanted Aunt Helen dead, hence the call to his sister.

In The Perks of Being a Wallflower (the movie), why does Charlie say that his "aunt was his favorite person in the world, until now", right before he kisses Sam, if she sexually abused him?

Because his he thought his aunt was the only person who loved him and he repressed his traumatic experiences until when Sam kisses him and he realises that someone else loves him and it brings back all his traumatic memories which he has been trying to supress for a long time.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012 movie): Is Charlie in love with Sam or just infatuated with her? How can you tell?

He was infatuated with her at first but gradually fell in love with her. He is an introvert, that is something which holds him from expressing his feeling to Sam. He was abused by his aunt which haunt him and made him unclear about his feeling towards Sam. That’s why he began a relationship with Mary Elizabeth which ended disastrously. As he asked to his English teacher “Why do people fall in love with wrong people”. But in the end Sam found about his feeling and ask why did he never ask her out and he replied “We accept the love we think we deserve”. It shows that he was suffering with low self esteem due to his aunt’s abusive behavior in the past.

What did Charlie's aunt Helen do to him in Perks of Being a Wallflower?

Charlie's Aunt Helen molested him until she died getting his second present. Why? Well, we don't know WHY exactly, but that Helen was raped by a family friend as a child. Whenever Helen tried to tell someone, they chastised her. (because they didn't believe her) Helen obviously bore no ill will for Charlie and cared about him deeply, but she was a victim of a vicious cycle. (like Charlie)

The reason Charlie remembers her as the greatest person he has ever known is because, despite the molestation, they were close and cared deeply for one another. Aunt Helen bought him gifts and demanded that Charlie's father never hit him in her presence again. An interesting theory is that Aunt Helen's rapist often defended Helen and showed her love through gifts -- maybe that's why she decided to molest Charlie. (I don't want to say out of love because that's disturbing, but so is molestation/rape.) That's just a theory, not a fact. Charlie repressed the memory because he didn't want to believe it, remember -- he held his aunt in high esteem and throughout his early childhood he was the one he cared about most. Charlie wasn't angry at her because he understood and forgave her. Aside from the close bond the two had, Charlie's personality is to naturally forgive. To forgive is one of the first steps to recovery. So, because Charlie forgave quickly, he wasn't upset. Though, it's highly likely that Charlie had his moments of anger (his moments in the hospital are never detailed just that they were "bad." -- some days.)

At the end of the day, Charlie will always love his Aunt Helen. He understands why she did it (not that it's an excuse), but that didn't change the fact that she bought him two gifts a year and was his best friend during his first seven years. Although it's sick that Charlie could love his molester, what good would it have done Charlie if he held a grudge on his Aunt Helen? Charlie wants to move on and participate, hating his Aunt Helen won't add anything to his life.

What did Charlie's aunt Helen do to him in The Perks of Being a Wallflower?

Aunt Helen, a troubled young woman who was abused by many men, loved Charlie but molested him when he was younger. In the book it is said that he was molested by her every weekend. He was most probably molested by his aunt and since he was only a child, those things were a bit cloudy to him. The events were apparently being reminded to him when some situations were done that by his new friends Sam and Patrick.Sam told Charlie that she was molested by his dad's boss when she was 11. In that context, Charlie told her that his aunt was also molested (instead of him being molested by his aunt) and she turned out to be a nice person and that she was his favorite person.Obviously, Charlie was trying to make Sam not insecure about what happened to her. That she's not alone and everything was gonna be fine despite that event in her past. Even if Charlie changed his story, it reflected his experiences as wellMore good explanation you’ll get here: What did Charlie's aunt do?
