I really don't know what it is. I am studying for the unit test in History class I took notes I think they were good but I have taken the test like for times and I have a couple more times to take it to try to pass it. I can't pass it it and it is hard for me and I am behind and trying to get caught up and I am always having appointments and trying to get caught up is really hard right now since I am home schooled not much help because there are no instructors.

Why Giovanni da Verrazzano's reputation did not proliferate as much as other explorers of his era despite his discoveries?

I think the main reason is that they had rather small effect, at least relative to the size of his discoveries. He did not open a colonial empire or a major trading route - in fact, France did very little with the Atlantic seabord afterward, instead going to the St. Lawrence region as discovered by Cartier. It also did not have a lasting effect on the map, because the area he explored would be explored again, and in greater detail, by others within a very short time - in fact, Estevão Gomes had already left for the same area by the time Verrazzano returned, and did a better job at providing data for good maps.

How did Louis Philippe I become the king of France?

There was a July Revolution in 1830 against the tyranny of the last direct Bourbonnian king of France, Charles X. For years the liberals had secret societies and were very organized, and they managed to proclaim the Duke of Orléans, Louis-Philippe, the new King. A lot of monarchists hated him because he was the son of Philippe-Égalité, the relative of the decapitated king Louis XVI that was part of those who voted to execute the king, and since it was decided from only one vote, he was blamed for the death of the king Louis XVI. The title of Louis-Philippe was changed : he was not King of France but “King of the French”. He too would get overthrown in 1848, which would be the rise of the Second Republic (the “conservative Republic”).Louis-Philippe was the last king of France, but not the last monarch. Napoléon III was elected president of the Second Republic and made a coup d’État, and became Emperor. His regime ended with the loss of the Franco-Prussian war of 1870–1871. XIXth century history of France is complicated. It takes a while to get used to it.XIXth century rulers of France :Napoléon Ist (Bonaparte)Louis XVIII (Bourbon)Charles X (Bourbon)Louis-Philippe (Orléans)Napoléon III (Bonaparte)This is why there are 3 claimants to the throne : one of the direct house of Bourbon, one of the cadet branch of Orléans and one of the house Bonaparte. It makes 3 types of royalists in France that bicker against each other. This is why the royalist movement was weak afterwards. Even today you have the Orléans pretender go into great lengths of legal arguments to explain why the Bourbon pretender cannot have the throne, and so on. It’s quite entertaining actually.Bourbon pretender : Union des Cercles Légitimistes de FranceOrléans pretender : La Couronne - Le blog de soutien à la famille royale de FranceBonaparte pretender : Mouvement de l'Appel au Peuple

Vasco da Gama definitely..first to sail around the Cape of Good Hope of Africa. 1497 to India.

Bartolomeu Dias was a Portugese navigator whose 1487-88 Atlantic voyage around the southern tip of Africa opened sea routes between Europe and Asia. (ANSWERS.com)

NOT Columbus, he sailed for Spain. (but he tried to convince King Juan of Portugal..but, no go)
Cabot was English, acually first to land on North America.(Nova Scotia) but early in his career he was made a captain by Spain.
Cartier, French. (explored the St. Lawrence River)
Drake sailed the coast of South and North America for England.
da Verrazzano sounds Portuguese but I've not heard of him. A ha!

Giovanni da Verrazzano (often spelled Verrazano; c. 1485 – c. 1528) was an Italian explorer of North America, in the service of the French crown. (wikipedia)

Magellan is not on the list. He was Portuguese but sailed for the King of Spain. Credited with being First to circumnavigate the world, but he died in the Phillipine Islands.
