If the compressor is running at full speed, the coolant is circulated inside the coils at a faster rate and say it draws the same amount of power as a normal 1 ton ac ie: 1300 W.When the desired temperature level is achieved, inverter ac doesnt turn off the compressor. It reduces the frequency of the input to the compressor and reduces the speed of the compressor to maintain the desired coolant flow rate to maintain the set room temperature. Normally at this time the compressor takes only 50% input power ie: 650W.As long as the room temperature doesnt fluctuate or any external heat source is not there in the room that increases the room temperature drastically. The ac takes 650W input power.Meanwhile the normal ac will be running at 1300 W for the same desired temperature.
