What Do I Feed My Pig Nosed Turtle

Pig nosed turtles and goldfish?

yah goldfish arent meant to share a tank with turtles. they wont get along. Your best bet is to upgrade your tank. go to petsmart and get a 10 gallon kit that already includes everything you need. they are like 60 bucks. definately worth your fishes lives.

Can turtles swim on their backs?

Turtles rarely swim upside down- their camoflague and lifestyle are all geared to the back shell facing the sun. They really should not be floating upside down either.

They certainly CAN swim upside down. Sea turtles 'play' all the time and swim upside down often. Several 'hunting ' turtles, like the Fly River turtle do lots of twists and turns pursuing prey. Other turtles will do some 'acrobatics' in a big enough tank to show off their skills, but rarely in home tanks which tend to be too small.

How do I introduce a different breed of turtle to my tank with two other turtles who already know each other?

It depends on what kind of turtles they all are, but the bigger issue is that a new turtle can introduce foreign health concerns. Did the new turtle come from outside or a pet shop or breeder. Size is also a big issues , larger turtles will intimidate and sometimes harm smaller turtles. Turtles from the wild should not go into a home tank, especially if it’s a snapping turtle. It can take a very long time for turtle symptoms of illness to show. Salmonella is one of the problem microbes.

What do you call a flying turtle?

1) Balloon Suit (see website)
2)Green Wing?
3) Absurd Bird?

Silver dollar turtles?

First, you need a tank. The rule of thumb is 10 gallons per inch of shell length. A female can grow to 13" in shell length but this isn't likely for you unless you learn to care for turtles properly before you buy them. The water should be deep enough for it to swim in but shallow enough in one place for it to stand and still stick its nose out to breathe. There should be a basking site for it with a bulb above it for heat. Not too hot, though. Most people add a UV light so the turtle can make its own vitamin D. I prefer to feed the vitamin D; liver is a good source. If you dust the liver in bonemeal, that will provide calcium as well, so the turtle can grow properly. Other good foods are live earthwoms, small fishes (not goldfish), and soft-bodied insects. Adults may eat dark green leafy vegetables too.

Are turtles and tortoises endangered species?

Unfortunately, yes. Among all the major vertebrates, chelonians are the most endangered animals. According to the IUCN 2017 Red List, about two thirds of their species are in danger of becoming extinct. They are being harvested from the wild as food source, perceived medicinal properties and as pets. Habitat loss is another major threat to their existence. This is the latest report on the conservation status of chelonians from different parts of the world: Tortoise and Freshwater Turtle Specialist Group
